I was simply pointing out that from my experience in the theater, people laughed for some reason when Thor took off Thanos’ head. Which, while being a great moment, didn’t really strike me as comedic, hence my surprise at the audience reaction when it was a rather depressing scene showing that the heroes failed.

When I first watched Avengers Infinity War, I was so shocked of the ending, it was the first movie I've seen where the villain won, and I would've never expected it in a Marvel film. The car ride home after watching the movie was just in complete silence, I didn't know what to feel, sad, frustrated, scared, it was a roller-coaster of emotions. I didn't stay long enough in the theater to see the Captain Marvel teaser and thought it was completely the end, but growing up, I realized that this could've been the true and best ending to the MCU, there was still salvation for the main Avengers, and Thanos didn't even cackle evilly after his victory, he lost so much and chose to be a farmer instead of a viscous warrior seeking out more for his own gain. We all could've accepted this was how the MCU ended, maybe if the directors gave us more time to appreciate this ending Endgame wouldn't have happened, it already looked to have one of the darkest atmospheres of the MCU films minus the humor. In my point of view, I see this as the true ending and I'm proud of making that statement, it takes time before you can really appreciate something you're not used to.
I really like the MCU's portrayal of Thanos. He still retains some of the heartless and cold tactics and ideals as Comic Thanos but also has that sympathetic purpose of watching everything he cared for disappear and to avoid it happening to anyone else, he made a decision that while grave and to many.. heartless and immoral, to him was a decision that had to be made for the greater good of others so they wouldn't share the same fate

to be honest thanos was not a villain he was trying to help but everyone saw including the avengers saw him as the villain even though he was just trying to delay the inevitable
The antagonist wins and, in his victory, chooses solitude over ruling the universe, always wondered why did he do all this, never really struck me as the bad guy just someone trying to help the universe stave off destruction but using extreme methods and ideology, and then he succeeded and decided to live out his remaining days in solitude waiting to die atomizing the stones so they could never be found again so they could never tempt someone to use their power
