Overall my broke but is spending way more than I should because these brands spent money on samples

I read in the US most skincare is owned by like 3 companies so they don’t care about competing anymore. In South Korea there are 100s of companies so they’re all (actually) competing for your service
Most of them are owned by l'Oréal, Estée Lauder, Shiseido or Coty those four own 90% of the market XD So yeah they really do NOT care they are filthy rich 😅
That sounds like a monopoly which is illegal in the US. Though the way to get away with this is like with certain types of companies only having a few main owners, but the few main owners own a bunch of other companies. So there’s still “technically” competition. Though actually, there isn’t much of a competition. Which means that it’s a monopoly. If going just based off of the definition of it and why the US even made it a law in the first place about 100 years ago. Same kind of stuff goes for the cell phone services here in the US. The top 3 (it used to be top 4 until about a few years ago, but that’s still not enough competition) companies would go to each area (town, city, or county) and put in a bid in the amount of money to the local politicians for the rights to certain amounts of cell towers. So there are a lot of cell service companies in the US. Each of the top 3 companies owns some of them (they bought some of them). Though if a company isn’t one of the top 3, then that company rents cell tower usage from one of the top 3 companies. It’s even worse ‘cause some companies rent cell tower usage from a company that is renting from one of the top 3 cell service companies. That sure does seem like a monopoly of an industry in the US. The problem is, loopholes to the monopoly rule.

Most do because of customer service, but sometimes the employees just get the return rules from higher above. Or they had really bad sales because of people abusing the return system. Sometimes they refer you to the manufacturer to get a replacement item or repair. So if they treated you normally and with respect but just didnt take a return, it's not bad customer service per se. We're just used to how easy it is to return.

They would then proceed to ignore you, not reach for stuff you asked for, etc. Often, they would judge you based on clothes and accessories, not knowing that clothes, purses, shoes often cost more when their brand labels are not boldly screaming. They automatically assume that if big brand labels aren't showing you are probably poor
I’m American but lived overseas for decades. It was so weird to come back and discover free samples aren’t really free anymore. It’s better for the environment because less plastic trash I guess, but that’s not why companies are doing it.
I'm Filipino and have been to East Asian countries many times. Whenever I buy K-beauty products or even gadgets, I am given out samples and you can even ask for extra. Meanwhile in the Philippines, the Korean brand branches or retailers will rarely give you a sample, the local branches employees will either get the samples for themselves or they usually sell them. You will find sample-sized products being sold in major malls.

Wow! That’s great. My friend broke her arm in England in the 80’s and never got a bill. It was amazing. I have a $10,000 deductible on my US insurance. It’s a joke. I only spend a few thousand a year on medical so it never kicks in. So I pay premiums out of my paycheck for the peace of mind but never benefit from it.
It's amazing how poor of quality hells care in the United States is despite how much is paid for it. I know of people who had totally treatable injuries who are now permanently disabled because their insurance company decided that having a working arm wasn't worth paying for

It's been 2 years fighting insurance and they feel my quality of life & mobility isn't worth the cost of a wheelchair. 🎉 Oh also to note the reason I could never fully recover is they decided my ability to walk isn't worth the cost of surgery. 🤯

This is really true. I'm not even living in Korea. But I ever once visited and shoped Korean skin care. I bought 3 products, but I got sooo many samples. Even one of them was not a sample, it was a bottle of foundation. The bonus I got : 8 packs of sheet mask 1 bottle of foundation 1 lip tint 3 samples of serum 1 pack of pimple patch (there are 4 sheets in every pack. Every sheets has around 15 patches) 2 samples of face wash 3 samples of mosturizer 1 sample of toner 1 sachet of shampoo I would never forget it!

They don't give much these days, but when you have an event or asks if you can give them samples, they usually give you a small cotton pad or sun blocks. I remember when we didn't get samples the first time my mom and sister made comments that they were stingy because we got so used to it. So, there is this store, called “OliveYoung” (or 올리브영 in Korean) and THAT’S where you’ll be buying Al of ur stuff, it’s like the Korean sefora but without the sefora girls and waaaay better. And the thing is that they don’t give you the samples at tho counter like they show you at the vid. You’ll sometimes see these packages displayed that include free samples. The free samples can be refills of the same product or some kind of product that will boost the usage of the og product ( for example, I bought a contouring pallet and it came with a contouring brush or smth). Not all products have free samples but they are all worth it! If you have anything you want to like, buy or smth that is not specific, like a foundation but you don’t care which brand, you can comment here and I’ll give you the best options for you ❤️❤️

Yup.. I switched to Korean and Japanese skincare a long time ago. Cos I found something suitable for my face from the samples they gave me. So, I transitioned from western skincare products to fully Asian skincare products. They r very generous and they have better customer service.

Most do because of customer service, but sometimes the employees just get the return rules from higher above. Or they had really bad sales because of people abusing the return system.
Sometimes they refer you to the manufacturer to get a replacement item or repair. So if they treated you normally and with respect but just didnt take a return, it's not bad customer service per se. We're just used to how easy it is to return.

They would then proceed to ignore you, not reach for stuff you asked for, etc. Often, they would judge you based on clothes and accessories, not knowing that clothes, purses, shoes often cost more when their brand labels are not boldly screaming. They automatically assume that if big brand labels aren't showing you are probably poor
I’m American but lived overseas for decades. It was so weird to come back and discover free samples aren’t really free anymore. It’s better for the environment because less plastic trash I guess, but that’s not why companies are doing it.
I'm Filipino and have been to East Asian countries many times. Whenever I buy K-beauty products or even gadgets, I am given out samples and you can even ask for extra. Meanwhile in the Philippines, the Korean brand branches or retailers will rarely give you a sample, the local branches employees will either get the samples for themselves or they usually sell them. You will find sample-sized products being sold in major malls.

Wow! That’s great. My friend broke her arm in England in the 80’s and never got a bill. It was amazing. I have a $10,000 deductible on my US insurance. It’s a joke. I only spend a few thousand a year on medical so it never kicks in. So I pay premiums out of my paycheck for the peace of mind but never benefit from it.

So, there is this store, called “OliveYoung” (or 올리브영 in Korean) and THAT’S where you’ll be buying Al of ur stuff, it’s like the Korean sefora but without the sefora girls and waaaay better. And the thing is that they don’t give you the samples at tho counter like they show you at the vid. You’ll sometimes see these packages displayed that include free samples. The free samples can be refills of the same product or some kind of product that will boost the usage of the og product ( for example, I bought a contouring pallet and it came with a contouring brush or smth). Not all products have free samples but they are all worth it! If you have anything you want to like, buy or smth that is not specific, like a foundation but you don’t care which brand, you can comment here and I’ll give you the best options for you ❤️❤️
