  • Permaroof rubber roof installation. The kit came with no instructions so I thought I'd share my experience.
Whilst I'm no professional I couldn't actually find too much 'how to' information about this brand of rubber roof.
So here it is, just sharing my experience of fitting it.
Firstly make sure you are going on to new dry boards. Any moisture and it won't bond.
I think the most important point to note here is the fact that the rubber sheet has joins which are twice the thickness of the main sheet. If you have a ridge and are lucky enough, this would be a good place for it to go.
Where you really don't want the join to be, is where you clip the drip edge in, it makes it super hard to clip in.
Overhang for the rubber is 50mm all round.
I'm super stoked with the result and would recommend, especially as they say it's supposed to last 50 years!
    I hope this helps.

It wasn't too bad, but really hard if there is a join in the rubber as it's double thick

Do you think the rubber could be installed before the facia goes on or would you recommend the facia first. Had the kit delivered today, load of stuff no instructions, did manage to find info online but aimed at the experienced user. Also contact adhesive came as a spray can!!

spray could get messy, hope there is no wind! Facia on first for sure, then your kerb edge or drip edge. Good luck!

Is there a correct way up?

best to check but it would make sense that the outside of the roll is the underside otherwise you'd have to completely unroll it to fit it. And it weighs a tonne

I only have contact adhesive - can info the whole roof with that?

i've only done a couple of these now - the thing is with contact adhesive is you have to do both surfaces, wait for them to touch dry, then push them together. On a roof of any considerable size that would be a total pain. I'd go for the recommended stuff to make your life easier.

      plus contact adhesive is expensive
