Haven’t even watched this yet, my friend, but the fact that it’s 45 minutes promises an absolute treat. You’ve really outdone yourself this time, Sir 😯 what a cracking idea!
Yes, add it to watch later but be sure to let me know what you think. I really bit off more than I can chew I think - it took 5 hours to render/export after three days of editing on my dinky laptop, and 11 hours to upload on my dinky internet! All for the love of my viewers! 😀
Thanks so much! I really worked hard on the way to do this best; glad to know you liked it. Any suggestions on things to differently etc for the next videos?
FELL!!! Don't know about the collection, but the singles only ran to nine issues, alas, alas. Castle Waiting! Same response to Autumnlands. Cool B&W Swampies! (Never've seen'm.) Unwritten goes good all the way. Starlight, excellent. Alex + Ada!!!! Will watch further, later. What an endeavor, this!
Glad you’re enjoying it and glad to know it can actually be consumed in pieces and still be fun, I was wondering about that. The Fell TPB has issues 1-8, so missing one. Any suggestions on what I could do better?
That Kingdom Come has the definitely be one of the greatest DC stories Ever Told for me at least just how Mark Waid and Alex Ross handle that story even just throwing in biblical text into it gave it such a unique feel as you are reading it. And I also got to see Superman break right after Shazam gave his life to as many as he could and you just see Superman just be broken by that because he knew how much you looked up to him hey just to see him give his life to save Superman and him and Superman not being able to save him I cried I really did cry I said that's not right like come on don't do this and you just see Superman just fly to was it the Pentagon or something and just go mad and I didn't really blame him for that I I was like messed up Lee comfortable with it and yet you had the the preacher come in the last with second and convince him out of it which was very elegant that speech I can't remember on top of my head but God it was moving
For a non-comic reader, you are turning me into one! I definitely love your videos because you do not just focus on superhero comics, which I definitely would love to read. You made me realize that there is more to comics other than superhero stories. Thank you for giving your two cents on each of the comics you feature and will definitely check them out. More features on non-superhero comics that are definitely worth reading please!
Thank you so much, this just makes my day! What you are describing is exactly the goal, and while I have my own superhero favourites, these days I’m far more interested in the variety and breadth this medium has to explore. It’s truly a vast and fertile frontier, with far too few readers, I find.
hi nice video thanks, and it introduced me to the works of Jason, those books look really really nice, also great to see Giants Days set in my home town!
I’m so glad you’re interested in Jason. The hardcover collections of these slim paperback books are also great (will feature in a future video!) so give him a shot and see what you think. And yay for Giant Days!
So many titles I've now added to my want to read lists, these videos and this one especially I suspect will be another great source of information for me over the first year where i begin to really take this hobby seriously.
That’s great to know because that’s exactly what I hoped they’d be! My to-read list is also growing from the suggestions in the comments and messages I receive. What a good problem to have! 😀
Haha well, in that case I think I made the right decision, what would I do with a king? I prefer to be part of an autonomous collective! 😋 I hope you enjoy the fourteen other shelf video that follow this one too...
You have a very interesting collection my friend of trade paperbacks and hardcovers I'm completely just amazed. And I do thoroughly agree with your statement about every time you try an image comic you don't know if you're going to like it at all. Then you give the series a chance then you're very much impressed with what the creative team had done for that serious I firmly agree with you there. There's definitely a lot of comics from image that I was like I don't know if I'm going to like this at all but it can't hurt for me to give it a chance. And usually I would say eight times out of 10 I usually like what is being published from them.
Yeah I read Manhattan Project 2 I don't think the series is completely finished because I think Jonathan Hickman's a little bit busy with other projects. I think he's stopped at a certain point then try to come back then he stopped again but I really enjoyed that Sears to I thought it was very cool to see those Twist on Albert Einstein in the rest of that world that was being built
Really enjoyed this! Looking forward to going through the rest of the episodes. Also good to hear Ex Machina's someone else's favourite work by Vaughan. I feel it gets overlooked but it's my favourite of his by far.
Definitely will be on the look out for the Ex Machina trades. My collection is slowly growing (I'm more focused on single issues) so I always love adding new series to my mental list. With Saga on hiatus (still..I hope they start it back soon), I need a good story fix. Little Bird was doing it for me but that already ended. Speaking of series this is a great video series! Amazing collection!
Thank you! Singles just aren’t that easily available here in India, and anyway I hate waiting to continue a story 😀. Ex Machina is excellent and the new ‘books’ mean you can have the whole thing in 5 volumes. If you do check it out, I’d love to know what you think of it!
I personally thoroughly love paper girls I really enjoy that series. From start to finish it was beautifully well done the story with me was crazy. I have the single issues but I'm missing one of them out of the entire series of Paper Girls I forgot which one it has to be if I'm remembering correctly issue 16 for some reason it never came. And I have all six volumes of the main series and trade paperback formed. And I want to eventually start letting people borrow that particular series like I've been letting certain people that I know borrow certain comic so I'll try to get them to like get into it if they decide to so far that's been doing pretty good I mean I've been giving my one friend some Hellboy. Andthe other I started her on a comic from boom Studios was called bone Parish she enjoyed that I didn't give her the third volume but when I get a chance to see her again I'm going to give her paper girls
Love your stuff - even the older videos!! Question - what are your favorite Vaughn stories? Did you ever finish paper girls and would you recommend it?!
Thank you so much😁! I think my favourite series by Vaughn remains Ex Machina, although I've enjoyed almost everything I've read by him. This includes Paper Girls, which I did finish, and thought was a lot of fun and ended up being a pretty good yarn!
GROO!!! Really like Twilight children, too. I must be missing something re: Monstress, as well, 6 issues were enough for me. NEXT WAVE NEXT WAVE. yES! Juvenile? Yes!!! silly? Yes! FUN! Yes! Flintstones just didn't make it for me, though. THE GOON!!!! Hmmm, okay: just ordered Screw-on Head from my library... Cooke's Spirit, yes! Brubaker/Phillips, yes! Will finish up your video anon. Cheers--
Depends a lot on how often you release them. It's long. But in installments, doable. But it could take me a week, maybe two, to do it. Now if you were to promote them as being 'parts 4, 5, & 6 of--' (eg., this one being parts 1, 2, & 3), each 45" video would seem much more approachable to me. As is, one every few weeks is doable. Big undertaking, this project.
Yes, I see what you mean. The undertaking ballooned because I didn’t want to break a shelf into multiple videos, I didn’t feel that would be satisfying to viewers in the same way. At the same time I didn’t want to give good books short shrift by making a faster/shorter video - already I realised in this video I skipped right past Over the Wall and WE3, two great books, in my attempt to wrap up! One a week at this length is about what I can manage though, but that seems my regular schedule anyway, just with a longer video here! 😀
I really do have to check out lumberjanes you're like the seventh person on RUclips that really talks about that particular one and I'm just in like watching certain videos and I keep on singing that one keep on coming up I got to check that one out the cover on those trades look good I just don't know what it's about really
never thought that comics collection videos can be so interesting. usually it's like "oh ye here is my vertigo shelf, and here some of my mangas. ye so see you guys in the next video".
Haha, glad you liked it! But maybe I'm doing the same thing you're describing, only with many many more words? 😀 (your comment was stuck in spam for some reason, sorry for the delay in noticing that!)
Yes, a whole bunch now and Essex County (of which you can see two volumes in this video) is my favourite. I haven't read the Underwater Welder yet, but Sweet Tooth (also in this video), Descender, Roughneck and Trillium are a few of the others I have. The man is very prolific and I'm not even getting into his superhero stuff for Marvel and DC!
Hi ! I wanted to ask you, what are some character driven comics i would like. So I dont like superhero comics that much.But. Have you read Spawn, I am somewhat interested in it, is it characterdriven ? Also I have heard Jeff Lemire dies good characterdriven storues where should I start ?
Are you looking for dark and tortured characters like Spawn or also more light hearted or 'realistic' characters? How much I enjoy a story usually has to do a lot with how much I enjoy the characters and their motivations, so I'm FULL of recommendations. 😁
Debjyoti Guha Ah those are mylar comics bags from the USA. They’re just like regular poly comics bags but clearer and stronger plastic. I get a pack of 100 at a time, usually through friends or relatives visiting the US and sometimes my own travel, and replenish when I run low.
Found this channel after much research wanted to know how do you procure graphic novels as these are only available with Amazon India and are pretty expensive any cheaper way to get apart from Amazon
I started buying comics and tpbs a long time ago, using web sites in India like A1 and Infibeam (both now defunct). These days it's Amazon, Bookswagon, some brick and mortar bookstores and used copies being sold by other collectors on Facebook groups etc. Of course they're still expensive, but that's comics for you - they cost more to make than prose books and have smaller print runs so that's just something we have to work with. I hope that helps!
Ah I do gloss over them really fast (my first shelf video and it took three hours and I got really tired 😋) but if you pause the video at around 41:48 you'll catch a quick glimpse of the handful of Hellblazer TPBs I have.
Haven’t even watched this yet, my friend, but the fact that it’s 45 minutes promises an absolute treat. You’ve really outdone yourself this time, Sir 😯 what a cracking idea!

Hell of an effort putting this together. I can't wait for the next shelves. What an envious collection!
Thank you! Effort yes, but worth it, hopefully! 😀 New videos to be worked on as soon as I get back home, stay tuned...
You Sir, have won the internet for this week, month and (quite possibly) the year! Superb video :)
Thank you! I thought maybe I went a little overboard! 😀 Glad to know you liked it, any suggestions for future instalments?
Yes, here's a suggestion - release the future installments now, I say! :)
Alas given some work travel, they’ll be more scattered. I figured 45 minutes is good for right now! 😀
Neocomion by Alan Moore avatar press takes on the lovecraft mythos
You Sir, have nailed the format for presenting one's collection of comic books ✌️ Well done!
Thanks so much! I really worked hard on the way to do this best; glad to know you liked it. Any suggestions on things to differently etc for the next videos?
The bent corner of injection gave me heart attack and this video made me bankrupted
Haha Injection arrived that way but it was around INR 300 so I couldn’t be bothered returning it. Glad you seem to have enjoyed the video!
Awesome bro..That line 'spiderman used to be like what batman is for many' really made me smile..
Great collection..Way to go....
Thank you! 😀 And stay tuned for Shelf 2, which I’ll be tackling as soon as I am back from work travel!

For me the first several years of the Ultimate Universe was very amazing for me I thought I was thoroughly impressed with those stories.
Loved it. It worked out so well. Would love a closer look at giant days and Jason. Can't wait to see more. Thank you for the video and all your work.
Thank *you* for being such a constant viewer! Glad you enjoyed it and you can bet Jason’s going to have his own FtLoC portfolio soon! 😀
I am a life long viewer now sir. Can't wait for Jason videos because I know so little of him.
I’ve put him on the list!
Thank you

Splendid collection. Awaiting shelf 2 !!!!
It may be a few days, but I hope it’ll be worth the wait!
Approaching 500 subscribers...This calls for a treat😉
I thought I explained that these collection videos *were* the treat! 😋
My lord! You have a kings ransom of a collection!
