  • BMW 1 Series F21 LCI has got LED headlamps, new front bumper, refreshed grill, new lights in the back, improved interior, and you can have it with lots of multimedia and driver aids. 118i means this BMW 1 Series has a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder engine. The same 136 hp motor powers the current MINI Cooper, and a more potent version is used in BMW i8. But if you’re a bit of a traditionalist, BMW has a 3-litre straight six M140i for you.

    Been driving my 118i for a year now and just hit 30K km - love this car to bits! The handling is amazing and makes me wanna push it through twisty roads. I’m always amazed by how the engine loves to rev!

    Marek is right, I've had a mini and a 1 series before, and the mini just felt soooo much better in terms of handling, fun and performance.
    The problem I had with the mini was image- everyone thinks it's a cheap girls car!
    Now I sold the mini and got the 120i, now people don't comment much, but I'm losing a lot of driving pleasure indeed

    The old MINI Cooper S (R56) had an electric steering, and plenty of road feel through the wheel, so BMW can do it, they just chose not to. As a side note, I really wish we could get these in the US, they're so practical and they look amazing.

    The latest 1series (before it get's replaced later this year), is great like a 2series/F30 3series.
    And i like it's charm more than the new G20 3 series.
    So i choosed the best of both worlds:
    Have bought my Mini F56 JCW LCI (non GPF, thus sounding tremendously nice) in May 2018,
    and now ordered a full spec 3door 125d M Sport Shadow to replace my 11year old/260000km diesel.
    Sound&fun (&ok comfort&economy when i want it) + comfort/economy&RWD feeling (&fun when i want it) on my daily driving/longer trips.
    For money: Yes, choosing BMW, Mercedes or Audi, or any nicer model/more potent&capable engine from any maker, sure is not ideal if money is your primary concern.
    But really: who cares. You get what you pay for. Having the nicest and paying the cheapest: Oxymoron at it's finest. That never was, never is, never will be.
    And pointless - there are gazillion of choices for new and used cars, from bad to superb, for any kind of wallet.

    So I have just put down just south of 60 grand Aussie for a 125i 2018 LCI-2 with the B48 engine (with waaaayyyy too many options ticked) so I'm excited, I didn't bother spending ther extra for the 140 as the spec I wanted simply would have been a silly price.

    I'm surprised of those "real" fuel numbers. Does it actually consume that much while cruising at 90km/h?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 лет назад

      If you're driving alone, maintaining constant speed, there's no head wind, maybe it'll do 5-6. How often do you drive in such ideal conditions?

    • @tarassu
      @tarassu 7 лет назад

      Actually all the time I go on a trip. Sometimes, if there is a headwind, there is a tailwind when I go back.
      "Alone" - on highway vehicle mass has almost nothing to do with fuel consumption.
      Yes I do use cruise control when I travel.
      For a small hatchback 5-6 would be acceptable.
      How wide were the tires? Wide tires add to fuel consumption not due to rolling resistance but due to drag.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 лет назад

      I don't remember the exact spec, but this had M-Sport pack, so I expect tires were wider, than standard. 5-6 may be acceptable, but BMW claims 4.2 extra urban, so we're talking 30-50 percent more, driving very gently.

    • @tarassu
      @tarassu 7 лет назад

      Marek Drives naaa... I've heard people saying they drive gently but actully are speeding all the time.

    What the hell with the prices? In Serbia 118i starts at around 21500 euros and i think its 5 door version. Sure Golf is still (always is) a better buy, but prices you quote are hideous. 125i is 31500. Thank you for the real life fuel economy information, fed up with BMWs bullshit. Nice car though. But for that money one can have stronger Golf, or even Renault Megane GT (not GT Line) which is 23500, Octavia vRS which is 23200 and Ford Focus ST starts from 24500. And those are warm hatch with 205 bhp automatic full equipment, and hot hatches with 220 and 250 bhp, respectively.

    • @candyman3108
      @candyman3108 8 лет назад

      You can have an Octavia in Serbia for 23200 Eur? Are you sure? In Croatia it starts from 30,000 Eur without the DSG transmission and without the 230 HP boost...

    • @madisjaagura
      @madisjaagura 8 лет назад

      Base 1.4 TSI golf starts from 16800 eur here, base 118i from 26200 eur, base 1.4 TSI octavia from 18800 eur

    • @Zadrigo
      @Zadrigo 8 лет назад

      madoc Here base Golf is 13990, base BMW 118i is 21500 and base Octavia 1.4 tsi is 16820 (although its 2nd trim, you cant get 1.4 tsi in basic trim). Skoda Superb starts from 19490 (1.4 tsi) or 20990 (2.0 tdi). Basic Honda Civic is 17000 and that crap goes 0-100 in 14.8 seconds, no wonder noone sane is buying that.

    • @madisjaagura
      @madisjaagura 8 лет назад

      Base 1.4 TSI 14000 eur? I dont believe it. Maybe your base car has almost no options, but here we have most important things covered. Yes, we had also 14k eur 3 door golf with no options and 85hp engine, but not anymore.

    • @Zadrigo
      @Zadrigo 8 лет назад

      I understand. But the length of my review is a result of questions I got asked after shorter reviews. Viewers like to know a number of things, and unless I just put infographics on the screen there is no way I can cram all this information in 5-6 minutes. Perhaps it is something I should consider. For now you are one of the first (if not THE first) person asking me to make videos shorter.
