To hear the journey between Johann Christoph's "Es erhub sich ein Streit" to Joshann Sebastian's "Christ lag in Todesbanden" is a miracle of sounds and style. Ahh, that period between Schutz and J.S. Bach had some amazing music. I love the vocal works of Johann Christoph Bach, Pachelbel, and Buxtehude. The harmonic richness certainly gave J.S. Bach a wonderful foundation to build upon.
