It's not. Purple did something similar with Mandrake Root (lengthy impro solos), but after Machine Head they started doing it with Space Truckin' instead, though they sometimes mixed in bits of Mandrake Root. That's probably what you're hearing.
kinda they started in Space Truckin' and then switched into a improv section based off of Mandrake Root but on the album it's just listed as Space Truckin' so that's why it says just Space Truckin'
Bits of it are from Mandrake Root- the end of solo call is the same, but the actual 'riff' for the solos is different. It's technically from The Nice's version of Blue Rondo a La Turk! Jon even included a bit of the melody in this section in the 80s (I don't think he even did it in the 70s - correct me if I'm wrong). But yeah, it's the bass part which wasn't on the original but was added by The Nice, replacing the bass part to Mandrake Root. Plus to confuse even further, the slow volume-control bit bit at 2:45 (originally in actual performances of Mandrake Root) was later use in Fools, which was before this!
Let that be a lesson to you, Jon L M-Fer, for stealing Ritchie's sound waves/frequency. Ritchie always gets them back in the end! Jon L lost all of the air out of his organ, and that is what he gets for being an evil idiot! Jon L, Roger G. and Ian P are morose!, as Ritchie so brilliantly points out here.
@@גריקליימן Stage clowns should have never been, especially Roger G, Jon L, and Ian P--what a circus act those 3 are and need to return to Ringling Bros Barnum and Baily because that is whence they came--their first gig, so to speak!
@@Kris.G As I have said before, Ritchie's body language is in direct response to the actions of the 3 stage clowns. Dont ever compare him with them again!
Ritchie actually takes his guitar and over rides the sound board, and Jon L, who temporarily stole Ritchie's air waves until Ritchie took them back. That also means Ian got Jon L, and the other 2 ass clowns, fighting with the soundnem, and vice versa---what a super brilliant strategy.
The best ever guitarist on stage !!!
Wonderful! Love love love DP💖💖💖 (specially Ian G and Ian P)😍
The best!
Genial genial, energía talento creatividad profesionalidad etc etc.....
Mamma mia , Ritchie !!!
Rock on!
Good thing this is filmed in Black & White & not in Colour or else it would be too much to handle!
5:48 till the end is 110% beyond incredible👑♨️⚡️😱
Esses caras sao de mais...🎸🔥🎤🎼🎼🎼🎹🥁
Better than LED
Ritchie plays better than Jimy page.
John Bonham once said Ritchie's guitar playing sucked.

Love💗💗💗
I just love Ritchie's body language when he takes the sound waves back that Jon L, Roger G, and Ian P stole. Ritchie is some kind of brilliant!
And that's not 'clowning' any more to you? Typical fanboy-ism and double standards.
