She's not though from a production standpoint. Having to coordinate can be challenging and everyone's finally there and you decide to walk off? Get the job done and then revisit later what went wrong or could have been handled better. All that can be done over phone or skype or whatever and doesn't require people to be flown from all over the world. Just get the show done. Yes, production worked with Shangela more because of her schedule but they were both asked to be there. Jasmine was wanted there but she left. She disrespected everyone way more because the only obstacle was her being in her feelings at that point, after they had just done a tremendous amount of coordinating to get everyone in the same place at the same time. Is it understandable Jasmine was frustrated? Sure. But the situation is bigger than just Jasmine vs Shangie. Shangie's schedule was an inconvenience the team worked around leading up to filming, but Jasmine just straight up abandoned the whole team by walking off at crunch time. Production likely works with Shangela like that precisely because she has a go to, get er done, the show must go on attitude. And also will take the time to write long texts apologizing and reassuring people of their worth and that they are valued.

So this was basically Production's fault because of piss poor communication on their part. They could have either COMMUNICATED that Shangela would be arriving late due to currently being on tour and having to catch flights and such OR they could have JUST PUSHED THE CALL TIMES BACK FOR EVERYONE!
Listening to Jasmine's side of the situation, she had the right to be frustrated because from her point of view Shangela was just always late and I can understand how that can be frustrating to deal with especially when it comes to work and your time. But also listening to Shangela's side of the situation, we see WHY Shangela was late, but we also hear that she did contact the producers every time that she knew she would be late and she had understandable reasons, she was on a tight schedule between her tour and the holiday special, flights get delayed, taxis arrive late, things happen. It really sounds like an issue of miscommunication but also the producers fault for not letting the girls know what was going on after hearing from Shangela and trying to move the schedule around.
They accommodated Shangela because she wanted to guarantee her participation & worked with her...plus, she got the girls extra pay. We all know that she's a professional

No. Jasmine perceived her to be late because she didn't know that Shangie had made other arrangements with the producers. Shangela's call time was different than the other performers. She was on time, but her call time was latER than the others. If you're scheduled for work from 9-5 and your boss agrees to let your coworker work 10-6, your coworker isn't late, they just got there later than you. That's the sitch, that's the T here. Jasmine just couldn't be bothered to ask or see things from another perspective than her own.
Most of the comments seem to be pro-Jasmine, but I feel like Shangela is coming off as a straight-shooter here. She admitted to being late, and at least one of the two occasions had a very valid reason (plane landed after call time). And the third day of rehearsal she was there in time for breakfast--halleloo! Also, the texts from Shangela, the apology, trying to make amends and explain herself privately... Seems like this could have easily been fixed without Jasmine dragging it out for everyone to see. I'm kind of over Ms. Masters at the moment...

Ru and the producers wanted her there and they made accommodations to insure she could participate. I don't see how any of this is Jasmine's business if she is working and getting paid. Then Shangela taking time with the producers to insure they were all compensated for the extended amount of time shouldn't have been that big of a deal either. Jasmine made the choice to leave because she felt that waiting for Shangela and the producers wasn't worth her time, that's on her not Shangela. It sounds like production is more at fault here. If they knew Shangela couldn't get an earlier flight, or that she needed an extra hour or two that second day, they could've pushed the call times back for everybody or let the other queens know the situation while staying on schedule. The third day I don't see the big deal of Shangela meeting with the producers for 20 minutes to get everybody paid for the longer hours they were working. If it didn't delay production and Shangela didn't need to be on camera at that time, what's the problem? Jasmine just sounds like an unprofessional mess who's let her status as a meme queen go to her head. Any professional performer would understand Shangie. Your body is your instrument and negotiating with employers to accommodate your schedule/understand your mental and physical health is perfectly reasonable. Shangela isn’t a machine. If they asked her to be on the show, they obviously really wanted her and were willing to help her fit into the filming where they could. It seems more like Jasmine was annoyed at the treatment Shangela was getting. But the treatment was simply because she was so busy and needed a bit more time and understanding- which the producers were obviously giving her. Making time for your mental and physical health is a right, especially as a performer.

Shangela works very hard. People calling her unprofessional are not understanding. She couldn't get to the set on time, international flights and travel cause a number of delays. She was trying to get producers to pay the girls for the delays in the schedule. JM, didn't know the words to the Xmas song, wore a bee keepers hat to the final and walked off set.......to me Shangela couldn't avoid being late but JM was in control of the stuff she did. We met Shangela in the UK when she was on tour. She was courteous, kind, funny and totally there for the audience. No need to come for Shangela, JM doesn't like Shangela because she's working, working, working. That's why she don't like her.

I think it's obvious that Shangala has a bit more of a hectic schedule.. And because of that she's having to juggle a bit more than some of the other girls.. With that being said.. The success that she is getting being a part of a brand like Lady Gaga and the movie A Star is Born' the producers are giving her a bit more attention and priorities because her being still a part of the RuPaul brand brings that success over to the show. Jasmine who I like very much is a very fair and square kind of girl but not everything works under those terms in this business.. People get breaks because of what they're doing at the present time and they also get priorities because of that as well.. I feel Jasmine have to really grow more success to see how that works.. No shade and I'm sure she will!! Because she is very talented.. The bottom line is some of the African Americans involved in this show is just starting to shine!! Why tear each other down now?? I love them all yet some ‘shine’ brighter than others, display a level of maturity, while others have some learning to do. Competitions show you your weak spots and what you excell at. Some just have to work harder than others at times. It’s all relevant to me! Hope Jasmine calls Shangela and it works for both! HALLELUJAH!!!
Shangela is the queen who's lived to bring the drama to Drag Race, wants to clear the situation up "real quick" because "there is no real drama," but then goes on for 16 minutes and keeps bringing up her personal world tour, "forgets" to mention Trixie fucking Mattel, and then confirms each complaint Jasmine mentioned in her own video. Late three times, left set to talk to producers without saying anything, got heated with Jasmine when she was confronted about these issues, and then pretends to have the high ground in this issue. I was always a huge fan of Shangela, but there are true colors showing in this mess of a video. If you're such a professional, do your job, and do it the way it's been agreed upon by each participant. Anything else is just excuses and, by definition, unprofessional.
Except she DID do her job the way it was agreed upon. This is how the entertainment industry works. Shangela was asked to be a part of this production and she said "ok but I won't be able to get there until X time" and the producers (the bosses) said "that's fine. That'll be your call time." So she wasn't late, she just negotiated a later start-time then the other queens. She also negotiated a later start time for the next day. Again, not late. And she left set with the director's blessing to speak with the producers because the performers were being taken advantage of and she negotiated them more pay when no one else was willing to ask for it. If you or Jasmine want to read that as unprofessional, you surely can, but it's ignorant of the way show business works and clearly Shangela cleared all of her actions with the people in charge. Like she said, it's not her fault if that wasn't communicated with the rest of the cast.

If you and your coworker got your scheduled hours and they were scheduled to arrive an hour later than you and they showed up on time for that shift, would you say they got there late? No. You would say they got there later than you but on time. That's what Shangela did. Like she said, it's not her fault that the producers may not have communicated that with the other cast members.

Shangela was traveling the world and the producers knew her schedule so that’s none of the other queens business. ALSO she got ALL the girls PAID! She got 4 extra hours of compensation for everyone who stayed after the conversation with the producers. You should get paid for your time! Shangela stood up for everyone. Also they filmed the confessionals the third night of filming, they filmed them after Jasmine walled out to smoke a blunt and relax, you can’t come back in and film if you are under the influence it’s a liability issue for insurance. So Jasmine created that mess of not being able to film her confessionals. Jasmine got all the facts wrong and twisted the outcome. Know your facts before creating drama Kids.

Why is no one talking about the real problem here? Shangela had a gig the day before. I'm sure all of the producers knew that. But they decided they wanted Shangela there . Now Shangela had prior engagements. What was she supposed to do, cancel completely? This would have been disrespectful. So she did as she could, and the producers probably agreed to her being late as a result of her packed schedule. They are the one.not treating the queens equally. I don't thibk Jasmine is fundementally wrong. It's annoying to have someone be late when you're wprki on something (although the way she reacted didn't show professionalism either let's be real) but since Shangie being late was probably part of the deal, it's on the production in my opinion. They didn't deal.with this properly. If they weren't so obsessed with having Shangela there when she clearly couldn't, they could have organised all of this better. She's not though from a production standpoint. Having to coordinate can be challenging and everyone's finally there and you decide to walk off? Get the job done and then revisit later what went wrong or could have been handled better. All that can be done over phone or skype or whatever and doesn't require people to be flown from all over the world. Just get the show done. Yes, production worked with Shangela more because of her schedule but they were both asked to be there. Jasmine was wanted there but she left. She disrespected everyone way more because the only obstacle was her being in her feelings at that point, after they had just done a tremendous amount of coordinating to get everyone in the same place at the same time. Is it understandable Jasmine was frustrated? Sure. But the situation is bigger than just Jasmine vs Shangie. Shangie's schedule was an inconvenience the team worked around leading up to filming, but Jasmine just straight up abandoned the whole team by walking off at crunch time. Production likely works with Shangela like that precisely because she has a go to, get er done, the show must go on attitude. And also will take the time to write long texts apologizing and reassuring people of their worth and that they are valued.

So this was basically Production's fault because of piss poor communication on their part. They could have either COMMUNICATED that Shangela would be arriving late due to currently being on tour and having to catch flights and such OR they could have JUST PUSHED THE CALL TIMES BACK FOR EVERYONE!
Listening to Jasmine's side of the situation, she had the right to be frustrated because from her point of view Shangela was just always late and I can understand how that can be frustrating to deal with especially when it comes to work and your time. But also listening to Shangela's side of the situation, we see WHY Shangela was late, but we also hear that she did contact the producers every time that she knew she would be late and she had understandable reasons, she was on a tight schedule between her tour and the holiday special, flights get delayed, taxis arrive late, things happen. It really sounds like an issue of miscommunication but also the producers fault for not letting the girls know what was going on after hearing from Shangela and trying to move the schedule around.
They accommodated Shangela because she wanted to guarantee her participation & worked with her...plus, she got the girls extra pay. We all know that she's a professional

She admitted to being late, and at least one of the two occasions had a very valid reason (plane landed after call time). And the third day of rehearsal she was there in time for breakfast--halleloo! If they knew Shangela couldn't get an earlier flight, or that she needed an extra hour or two that second day, they could've pushed the call times back for everybody or let the other queens know the situation while staying on schedule. The third day I don't see the big deal of Shangela meeting with the producers for 20 minutes to get everybody paid for the longer hours they were working. If it didn't delay production and Shangela didn't need to be on camera at that time, what's the problem?

Any professional performer would understand Shangie. Your body is your instrument and negotiating with employers to accommodate your schedule/understand your mental and physical health is perfectly reasonable. Shangela isn’t a machine. If they asked her to be on the show, they obviously really wanted her and were willing to help her fit into the filming where they could. It seems more like Jasmine was annoyed at the treatment Shangela was getting. But the treatment was simply because she was so busy and needed a bit more time and understanding- which the producers were obviously giving her. Making time for your mental and physical health is a right, especially as a performer.

I think it's obvious that Shangala has a bit more of a hectic schedule.. And because of that she's having to juggle a bit more than some of the other girls.. With that being said.. The success that she is getting being a part of a brand like Lady Gaga and the movie A Star is Born' the producers are giving her a bit more attention and priorities because her being still a part of the RuPaul brand brings that success over to the show. Jasmine who I like very much is a very fair and square kind of girl but not everything works under those terms in this business.. People get breaks because of what they're doing at the present time and they also get priorities because of that as well.. I feel Jasmine have to really grow more success to see how that works.. No shade and I'm sure she will!! Because she is very talented.. The bottom line is some of the African Americans involved in this show is just starting to shine!! Why tear each other down now?? It doesn't make any sense.. Come on girls know your history!!!!
Elzy Arnold I concur! I do enjoy drama every now and again for entertainment purposes nothing hostile, often know some of these scenarios for publicity. I don’t wish to cringe. I love them all yet some ‘shine’ brighter than others, display a level of maturity, while others have some learning to do. Competitions show you your weak spots and what you excell at. Some just have to work harder than others at times. It’s all relevant to me! Hope Jasmine calls Shangela and it works for both! HALLELUJAH!!!

Shangela is the queen who's lived to bring the drama to Drag Race, wants to clear the situation up "real quick" because "there is no real drama," but then goes on for 16 minutes and keeps bringing up her personal world tour, "forgets" to mention Trixie fucking Mattel, and then confirms each complaint Jasmine mentioned in her own video. Late three times, left set to talk to producers without saying anything, got heated with Jasmine when she was confronted about these issues, and then pretends to have the high ground in this issue.
I was always a huge fan of Shangela, but there are true colors showing in this mess of a video. If you're such a professional, do your job, and do it the way it's been agreed upon by each participant. Anything else is just excuses and, by definition, unprofessional.
Except she DID do her job the way it was agreed upon. This is how the entertainment industry works. Shangela was asked to be a part of this production and she said "ok but I won't be able to get there until X time" and the producers (the bosses) said "that's fine. That'll be your call time." So she wasn't late, she just negotiated a later start-time then the other queens. She also negotiated a later start time for the next day. Again, not late. And she left set with the director's blessing to speak with the producers because the performers were being taken advantage of and she negotiated them more pay when no one else was willing to ask for it. If you or Jasmine want to read that as unprofessional, you surely can, but it's ignorant of the way show business works and clearly Shangela cleared all of her actions with the people in charge. Like she said, it's not her fault if that wasn't communicated with the rest of the cast.
@@mustlovebooknerd In the 'werk the world' tour everyone complained about Shangie being late too but Shangie didn't fell the need to make a 16 minute video. Shangie is the only girl in drag race history to beat up another contestant, she is drama mama.

I literally just watched Jasmine's video before this and I don't know you two personally and I definitely wasn't there... because RuPaul still has that restraining order against me... but I think both of you are sincere in your perceptions of the situation and I feel this is an issue of a misunderstanding. The comments are full of a lot of "so Shangela admits she was late." No! She negotiated a later call time with producers because of her tour dates (which she moved to accommodate the filming). If you and your coworker got your scheduled hours and they were scheduled to arrive an hour later than you and they showed up on time for that shift, would you say they got there late? No. You would say they got there later than you but on time. That's what Shangela did. Like she said, it's not her fault that the producers may not have communicated that with the other cast members.
Disagreements should be talked through in person or dropped altogether. Queens are hired by clubs to turn the party not get sidetracked or put on the spot with bullshit from fans.

Skip to 4:30 - Look it's okay, we all have attitude, we all get frustrated, we all go through it. No one expects Shangela to be perfect but she clearly has her attitude moments, we all saw it on her season when she was throwing drinks at people.

Jasmine says that Shangela is unprofessional for being late. That may be true but it is even more unprofessional to walk out on a production because you have your balls in a bind. Both had an obligation to the production company. Shangela fulfilled hers. Jasmine did not. Seems from this video that Shangela kept the producers updated regarding her schedule as part of her obligation to them. Jasmine simply got pissed off, thew a tantrum, walked out and waited four months to bitch about it.
Being late and telling those expecting you that you ARE late, is no where near as unprofessional as walking off set, imho
both are unprofessional, jush. Shangie shouldn't hold up a whole ass production with her bad timing and/or ego; and jazz shouldn't have skipped out on her money bc of someone else. But, and it's a big but, I believe jazz was going through some emotional turmoil at the time and that was the last straw.

She WAS on time. For the later call time she negotiated with producers. A professional knows their schedule and their limits and discusses them with her employers before acting. She wasn't late because she had permission to arrive later. She was on time. That on time just looked different than what on time for the other queens looked like.
She was probably late for her flight which is why she decided to make this.
I know y’all love choosing sides but this sounds like miscommunication. The producers were assholes for not sharing with the girls that shangie would be late the first day, that’s on production. She was late the second day and production failed to share that also. Jasmine is going through shit didn’t wanna deal with it. And shangie was arguin with producers about PAYING THE GIRLS MORE MONEY for a 12hr day. She just said that. I totally feel like this should be swept under the rug.

Shangela was traveling the world and the producers knew her schedule so that’s none of the other queens business. ALSO she got ALL the girls PAID! She got 4 extra hours of compensation for everyone who stayed after the conversation with the producers. You should get paid for your time! Shangela stood up for everyone. Also they filmed the confessionals the third night of filming, they filmed them after Jasmine walled out to smoke a blunt and relax, you can’t come back in and film if you are under the influence it’s a liability issue for insurance. So Jasmine created that mess of not being able to film her confessionals. Jasmine got all the facts wrong and twisted the outcome. Know your facts before creating drama Kids.

Why is no one talking about the real problem here? Shangela had a gig the day before. I'm sure all of the producers knew that. But they decided they wanted Shangela there . Now Shangela had prior engagements. What was she supposed to do, cancel completely? This would have been disrespectful. So she did as she could, and the producers probably agreed to her being late as a result of her packed schedule. They are the one.not treating the queens equally.
I don't thibk Jasmine is fundementally wrong. It's annoying to have someone be late when you're wprki on something (although the way she reacted didn't show professionalism either let's be real) but since Shangie being late was probably part of the deal, it's on the production in my opinion. They didn't deal.with this properly. If they weren't so obsessed with having Shangela there when she clearly couldn't, they could have organised all of this better. Especially since at this point, they needed Shangela there more than she needed to do it.
If I had a HUGE gig somewhere, I'd be there AT LEAST a day before to make sure i Get there in case there are flight problems- comoun!!
