@@LordM46 It is when they only seem to collab with the a-holes over at limited run games for their games in a physical format in the US. It was so much cheaper to import a japanese copy of River City Girls 1 and 2, then to pay the exorbitant prices they're trying to milk out of people for FOMO
I'm glad I played this game back in the day. My one major peeve against it is that enemies hit way faster than us and can quickly combine two attacks like a kick and jab, which we can't.
as an old fan of kunio kun series, i love this video and i love the idea that more people outside of japan know the character. The only thing I would have liked about the video is that they had placed scenes of super dodgeball of neo geo, because it was the last technos japan game of kunio kun and it also has Keiji, Misuzu and Sabu as playable characters. I also wish they could bring nekketdu kouha kunio kun's tv series to the west. On the internet you can only get the first chapter subtitled in English, and it shows that it is a great series.

I still have my SFC Kunio Tachi no banka, but sadly had to sell my neo geo super dodgeball.
The Neo Geo version would've been mentioned, too. Not only because of returning characters from Shin Nekketsu, but this was the last game Technos made before they went bankrupt and let other former Technos employees form a company called Million, to continue the Kunio-Kun franchise before Miracle Kidz had a go with the Kunio Dodgeball game, and Arc Systems buy the franchise later on.
Hey! Awesome video! I absolutely love the revival that has taken place because of River City Girls. I was a huge fan of the few nintendo games we received here in the West for Kunio. And now I can't wait for Misako in a miniskirt! Woo!
This is great information thanks for this. I just finished RCGZ and knew nothing about the Kunio series. I was surprised how different this game really is from RCG1.
In the canon they did not forget them Riki is still the boyfriend of Kyoko and Misako although it is not said if he is still together with Kunio since it has not been said in any game that they ended their relationship they are still a couple, actually the crazy ones are hasebe and mami since she was never the girlfriend was in love with him but kunio never fell in love with her and mami and Riki ended their relationship after the first game where she appeared
So, maybe this might be a spoiler but are we ever gonna address the elephant in the room of just what exactly is Mami and Hasebe deal? Because in the RCR they were dating Kunio & Rikki and were often depicted as sweet & nice and then suddenly in RCGirls 1 now they're snotty divas? What gives?
Actually in river city ransom which is the game that was released in the USA but with different names, Mami was the only one confirmed to date Riki (Ryan) but they broke up during that game and Hasabe has never been confirmed to date Kunio in any games, hinted to like him yes but never confirmed dating in any game. She was dating yamada in RCR, but again the names were changed
Im playin the snes game. I wanted to buy river city girls, probably i will but i dont like the hybrid between real japanese games and anime with english dub and american illustration. Less with english vocals for the songs.
they bought river city title and turn all the new games into mediocre beat them up, so boring and lack of creattivity. these new games altho looks nostagia, they lack of the core spirit of rivercity series. one of the biggest core part of river city games is about playful yet extreme detailed interaction with the scenes, items, and camios. there is always something surprises the player when playing and a lot of things to explore. e.g. in rivercity street basket ball you can even pull off the hoop, you can jump into a subway and come out from the other end, or be kicked by a horse to jump high to slam... these new games lack of all these, i played the new rivercity three kingdom, how can you call it a rivercity when you can't stand on your partner's head or trap them with a trash bin? tbh i feel ultimate chicken horse is even more rivercity than these new rivercity games, the characters from UCH are all trying to be sleazy cute just like old rivercity games, while the new rivercity games are all trying to act "cool". I really hate the modern resurrection of old school classic, they just ruined the title and use it to grab money. same thing goes to all new SNK games, every single of them feels like rushed to be markteted for the money.
This game has barely anything to do with RCG besides the girls inclusion. I can play it just fine, and i bring this game out a lot for multiplayer and it’s easy to grasp, so this seems to be a you problem and it’s not “unplayable”. Just get good lol
