It's crazy how good this is for a game made in 1991. It's so smooth and playable, with the fast horizontal movement (no rolling needed!) and generous lock delay. I also really like the smooth scrolling pieces. I especially love C-Type for its brutal rising garbage and the lovely lion head fountain. One of my favorite Tetris games, next to Tetris The Grandmaster. You can really tell the people who made this had a lot of passion for Tetris.
It's interesting to hear that so many people worked on this. I guess it shows, because it's my favorite version of Tetris on the FC/NES. The only thing it's missing is that one mode from Tengen Tetris that lets two people play cooperatively in the same well. Thanks for explaining the Bombliss mechanics - I need to give that mode another try.
I had a hard time trying the 16-bit Tetris 2+Bombliss because this was developed by Chunsoft, composed by Sugiyama, and the music sounds like it could have come right out of Dragon Quest and I love it. :D
this is by far the best version of Tetris on the Famicom but overall I still have a soft spot for the Nintendo developed NES version something about how the pieces move in Tetris 2 + Bombliss puts me off a little bit in comparison to movement in Nintendo's version but it's still a perfectly fine game and can be very fun
You know, I've just tried the game for the first time and I immediately recalled your comment. There's this weird inertia where you push a direction and the piece accelerates as a direction is held down: It kind of feels like the pieces are sliding on ice. I appreciate what they did here, but I think I'll stick to the Nintendo version because the controls are better.
I was hooked on the ROM of this one, it was an interesting twist on the tetris formula. didn't realize how much of an all-star cast was involved with the development, well outside of the composer, anyway.
I know this the most refined NES/Famicom version of Tetris, but I still prefer the Tengen version because I find the music in this one just doesn't fit the game at all and I'm totally biased because I played the Tengen one a lot more. 😛 Tetris Blast was among the handful of Game Boy games I had as a kid, but if I want to play that I'm either going to go for that one or the Super Famicom versions.
BomBliss is pretty good... and yes, this version of Famicom Tetris is much MUCH better than the first one. The Tetris story is so outlandish and bonkers that it didn't need any Hollywood embellishment, and yet they still embellished it in that Apple tv+ original.
That was pulled off of Twitter but when I went out to find the tweet, it's no longer out there. Or twitter won't return it as a search result for me. Fortunately, I retain all of these things and I don't mind uploading it to share. ruclips.net/video/AK5_eN9O_3A/видео.html

I never knew about this version of Tetris previously and I have to say it looks pretty great!
This is was North American gamers should have gotten for Tetris 2.
I'll get to North American Tetris 2 almost at the very end of the project, though it had a very different name in Japan.
"And this time, there's Bombliss in it."

Eh, Tengen Tetris has a really nice co-op mode I've never seen in another version of Tetris. I like it!
@@EriChanTheRetroGamerNerd That's a good shout too, I do like this version a lot for what it is but the SFC ones supercede it I think 😅

Why does that not surprise me? 😆
Hi! Where you find commercial for this title? Can you share the link?

@@RndStranger thank you!!!
That commercial looks amazing. I think I know what video I'm watching after this one! 🤣🤣🤣
Was it too much to ask to get a 2player Tetris game on the NES?
Tengen did what Nintendidn't.
This is a weird one for sure.
