I feel like no one is talking enough about how perfect that ending is. It's so dark. Completely true that most parents don't consider their kids' trauma when going through with divorce.
I think in a lot of cases it would be more traumatic for kids to grow up in a house full of hate and tension, rather than just have split parents who are happier and healthier. My grandparents hated each other but were too co-dependent to split, and every visit was just so depressing. I can't imagine decades of that.
Unhappy parents make unhappy kids. It's NOT fun to grow up with parents who don't love each other. I never once saw my parents kiss each other. Never. My mom and dad are so much happier now they are divourced. "Staying together for the kids" is usually counter-productive. I wish they had divorced sooner.

I feel like no one is talking enough about how perfect that ending is. It's so dark. Completely true that most parents don't consider their kids' trauma when going through with divorce.
That was a really well-written ending.
I think in a lot of cases it would be more traumatic for kids to grow up in a house full of hate and tension, rather than just have split parents who are happier and healthier. My grandparents hated each other but were too co-dependent to split, and every visit was just so depressing. I can't imagine decades of that.
Unhappy parents make unhappy kids. It's NOT fun to grow up with parents who don't love each other. I never once saw my parents kiss each other. Never. My mom and dad are so much happier now they are divourced. "Staying together for the kids" is usually counter-productive. I wish they had divorced sooner.
100% bettter two divorced parents who are happy or have the opportunity to be than two miserable parents where there is constant tension in the air and the kid absorbs all that misery,dishonesty and duplicity.

Limited time with your kids and then being reminded you aren't spending enough time with them. Yeah, good times. Thank God divorce is the norm, at least we don't have to worry about being stigmatized anymore.
