Oh, Hemingway... My favourite writer of all time. He is a master. None of my friends know why I like Hemingway, but then again, none of them read The Old Man And The Sea (opposite of Demon Copperhead; simple and short). Hemingway himself considered The Sun Also Rises to be his most successful novel, but I love The Old Man... for the same reason I love David Copperfield; simple, readable writing that stays with you. I'm not saying it's always enjoyable on first read; but, if you read it more than once you start discovering hidden treasures. Enjoy! He is a master for a reason.
Books & Co., which is Ann Novella and Micha Collins will be tackling East of Eden at the end of the year if you want to join in. I don’t think it’s been officially announced yet, but has been discussed on their Discord.
On average how many books do you keep after you've read them? I would like an unhaul video to see the books that you didn't like and are getting rid of or ones you liked but don't need to keep. Also, I remember your recommendation of Nine Coaches Waiting and was wondering if you have read any other Mary Stewart books. Is there anything else by her that you liked?
Alana, I know I already left a comment, but you have to go to a neurologist to check these headaches. It's not a joke. I waited too long and now I have a migraine disorder; it could've been easily fixed. Also, I sincerely don't mean to scare you, but I lost my partner to brain cancer 3 years ago. It started with headaches. Please, see a neurologist.
I had a friend I went to school with and she was a powerlifter and used to have migraines so often and one day she just dropped dead due to a brain haemorrhage. After it happened my friends and I were paranoid we were gonna drop dead randomly too and we talked to a doctor who said it could’ve easily been prevented if she went to see a doctor and got those pills that make you pee a lot to get the fluids out or something but yeah it all started with frequent headaches and migraines all very scary and serious stuff :/
@@Amy-tg7tu Thanks for your reply. I started getting migraines in my late 20's. No one knows why, but it sure costs a pretty penny to keep them at bay, $300 each month. I work for myself so I have no insurance. Anyway... headaches are no joke. Always a sign of something.
@@alanaestelle2076 I'm glad. I can't wait until you read Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton just b/c friendships do change as we get older. I miss just ... hanging out. Then again, "time is short" as they say. I was always one of those people who wanted to leave something behind. Can't have everything. Anyway, looking forward to this review. You don't do a lot of memoirs.
@@martasoltys9091 I heard keto/carnivore diets have helped some people with it because it reduces inflammation maybe look into that? :( I hope you get rid of those headaches asap 🤍
Feel better!! I’m inspired to collect and read books that I believe will stand the test of time.
I like this philosophy! And thank you!
The mentality of "the book's not going anywhere" is so true! I'm borrowing your mantra for myself in 2024🙂
YES!!!! Especially for new releases and established classics!
love this! these overwhelmingly big hauls are too much sometimes. i myself need to tone it back a little. thanks for the inspo🦋
yes! They can be overwhelming!!

I have a feeling I'm going to get on with Hemingway!
@@alanaestelle2076 I'm impatiently waiting for your Hemingway review.

Please read Tristram Shandy. It’s such a funny classic book. It’s a chonker but worth it.
I would love to see you do a video on your favorite international and or Asian authors.
Lonesome Dove is a great book.
I think I will give Thirst For Salt a try.
I hope you're well.
I'm really looking forward to reading Lonesome Dove!
And if you read it, I hope you enjoy!
I'm well, thank you. Hope you are also!

I pretty much keep them unless I absolutely hated them - when doesn't happen very often. I haven't read any other Stewarts yet!
I think. you will love East of Eden, The Sun Also Rises, and you will devour. Lonesome Dove, as I did. You have exquisite taste.
I’m really looking forward to East of Eden the most!!

Also rises? I don't get it, what also rises? Bread rises? You can get a rise out of someone; the moon rises? Hmmm, what else rises? I don't know.
LOL bread!
Bread - LOL! Steam, high-blood pressure, elevators, hot air balloons...
