Hi, Yes, a jazz player will usually add tensions to the chord as well as play various types of chord voicings. Some voicings may be closed (smaller than an octave) while others may be open. I think if you study some jazz theory and harmony with a piano teacher or pickup a book, that would be very helpful. Good luck with the vibes. Ed
