The song's title means "Before the shadow", that is before death. She talks about a person's imminent death or even her own, full of fear, but as she states, she, at least, had the privilege to love. So she's walking up the stairs to meet her Creator, getting rid of anything that can be a "burden" for the afterlife-the cloak goes off because the soul must be delivered completely naked and pure, just like an embryo. The water that falls down is cathartic, forming a silhouette of hers that could be a reference to both her presence on this earth, or even to an older version of herlself, now overcome.

thanks for all your reaction to Mylène
In this song, she addresses Jesus, telling him that she is afraid of the other side, but that she has loved it.
The song ends with her leaving her cloak behind, stripping naked to go to God.

The song talks about death. And it's water that you can see during this song, making like a curtain. In this curtain, they write the word "passé" wich means "past", and the words break down when they are falling... It's symbolic : you cannot grab the words, it is fragile and indeed already dead as soon as it exists... The past is no longer. So she will be, because soon it is her silhouette that will desappear on this curtain.
And the end, she is not on a throne... She is going to heaven, or something like that... She climbs the stair, with her so nice dress, full of jewellery and gold, but after a while she leave everything behin her, and she is nearly naked, like when we are born. Also so symbolic.

hello Lil ! yes , it's her best outro and what you see is not sand but a real wall of rain with wich they could create letters or silhouettes , a world first , of course ! if you add the final climb towards perhaps the paradise or a higher world , you get the most emotionnal outro of all time (it's my opinion but i'm not the only one who thinks so.....) ; she made a lot of people cry that night ; and yes , Mylène is very addictive 😉 ; thanks !

Oh, Lil, thanks for this reaction.
The rain that you see falling on this title comes from a curtain of water specially designed for this show. It was a world first because there was also the word “passé” (in English “past”) written on the water curtain as well as his silhouette.
This song evokes death and the fear of passing to the other side. This is symbolized by the fact that she undresses while climbing the stairs to pass to the side of the shadow (death), being stripped as if for a birth and then ready to die.
Mylène Farmer is really a star in France, very enigmatic, dark but with songs that are as deep and dark (ballads) as they are lighter and danceable (electro, rock, pop...) but always with messages.
She is the queen of gigantic shows and tickets to her concerts sell out in just 2 hours, often 2 years before the show. These are concerts in very large halls or stadiums like during his last “Nevermore” tour in 2023/2024.
She is famous for her intros and outros, such as the intro of “Avant que l'ombre” (“Before the shadow”), with the title "Peut-être toi" (Maybe you)(INCREDIBLE) and the intro of the “Mylenium Tour” with the title "L'amour naissant" (“The growing Love”)(EPIC), a concert which was voted the best concert of the century in Russia.
You absolutely must see these 2 intros !

It's not sand, but a real curtain of water, which is scenically completely new at the time.
