Ah! Thank you for explaining this! I kept having to duplicate layers to get the background moving, and it was taking up way too much space. I didn’t realize that there were options to check on in layer comps. Awesome tutorial!

Thanks again Rajen!!! Basically you just have to extend the BG by adding more drawings to it.

I often start drawing the PAN BG LAYER then convert it to a SMART OBJECT. Double click on the converted pan smart object layer which takes you to a new proxy document. Using the crop tool you can make the smart object as big/or long as you want to and then finish drawing the rest of your background all in one view. Be sure to hit save to save the changes to the new proxy BG. This takes up more memory in your file so don't over do it. This works for rotating a layer for layer comps as well. I don't think layer comps record a rotation on a normal layer more than once.

oh wow i had no idea you could do that! Does it work if you do zoom in/outs instead of pans?
also, not sure if you know how to do this but can you flip through layer comps with a keyboard shortcut? kinda like when you flip between keyframes in an animation. I have been trying to set keys to my layer comps- previous and next layer comp- but photoshop only let's you set that with a command + key option and that's really inconvenient : (

This method does not work with zooming in because I believe the layer comps only recognize the move tool. If you try to resize the image to simulate a zoom it doesn't work. You have to make a new layer for that. I don't know an arrow key shortcut, I just click through with the mouse until I export the images and flip through with the keys.

@@rajenramkallawan4398 ...hmm but that's REALLY inconvenient, then..without a zoom! Couldn't You just convert it into a smart object, instead.. To preserve the size, maybe..?
