Good to hear someone with the same problem 👍🏼 I was incredibly skinny and would eat 3/4000 calories a day and still put on no weight. 2 years on a GF diet and I put on 3 stone from eating 2.5k calories 😂. Keep going 💪🏼💪🏼

I always thought that people with celiac disease have explosive diarrheas and very intense, obvious symptoms. I didn't know that there is a spectrum to it, that's why it took me so long to figure out what I had. And the only reason I realized was because my symptoms got worse.

There definitely is a spectrum! I’m glad you finally figured out what you were dealing with!!

I eat a vegan, gluten-free, nightshade-free, and sugar-free diet. In other words, I eat grass. All seriousness, I wish I had eaten this way since I was born. I've spent 27 years of my life struggling with health issues like Psoriasis and a number of other gut issues.

Oh my goodness! That’s very intense, but I’m so glad you are doing better since transitioning to eating this way!

Oats are a GF safe food! I know that they can be at risk from contamination when they are grown or processed in wheat-processing facilities, so I buy oats that are labeled GF. Just wanted to point that out for clarity! Oat flour is great as well.

Yes! You’re correct! I was just talking about those oats that could be from cross contamination like you mentioned! I love GF oats! Thanks for pointing that out 😊

I was diagnosed just last year
I was always very skinny and short (much more than the other kids)
My parents thought it was because I did gymnastics and in my family everyone is skinny
I didn’t get my period and I didn’t start puberty so my parents decided to take me to the doctor
I did every type of test and after a long few months, I was finally diagnosed
I started growing taller and I just generally felt better
    I am no longer underweight
    I was 1.35cm and now I’m 1.49cm
In a year! (I will probably end up 1.60cm, that’s what my doctor says)
    I’m currently 36 kilograms
(I’m not American, sorry if my English is not so good😅)

I was diagnosed at 12 after my brother was diagnosed, I didnt think I had any symptoms but it turns out I was severely malnourished. My growth suddenly slowed around 5 years old and I was much smaller than kids my age. After I was diagnosed I grew 8 inches and gained 35 lbs in about 7 months, and I finally started my period(I know 12 is normal, but my family all started around 9). I have been gluten free for 4 years now and feel so much stronger. Did you gain weight suddenly or gradually after you went gluten free?

Oh my goodness!! What a story! I gained weight slowly over time-it was a struggle to gain it back but I was definitely malnourished before as well. I’m so glad you found out that you had Celiac Disease!

Hi! Welcome! I am only speaking from personal experience, but for my own journey with Celiac it took me a while to see weight changes in my body.

I also have celiac disease and have lost 20-25 pounds because of it. How long did it take you to gain some weight again. How much weight were you able to gain . Any info back would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Hi! I definitely can relate to you! It took me a while to gain weight (I’m not entirely sure how long, maybe a year) and it’s been about 7 years since I cut out gluten! I’ve gained a fair amount back!!

It doesn’t set you back to square one, but you may be sick for a few days!
