I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2009, back then I didn't even know what it was. I felt alone and I had nobody to explain to me what was happening to my body. This year i'm doing my bit to raise some awareness, tell my story, and try to help remove some of the stigma around IBD. If you are newly diagnosed you are not alone! Reach out to me if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to.
Special thank you to Musgrove Park Hospital and their staff for allowing me to film myself over these past 12 months.

It saddens my heart to hear about children w this horrid disease. Yes, I had minor problems w undiagnosed Crohn's. 4 mos ago I was diagnosed after a heart attack n on life support 5 days. Yes, this is a very unusual way to have started for Crohn's testing, but I'm 67 yrs old! And when I think of children, I cannot hold the tears back. I pray for the parent's heartbreak of there is nothing they can do. I pray for children like my son who's 50yr old n watches his mother suffer n there is nothing they can do. Yes my child, us adult who suffer weep n pray for the children. We know ur pain. Prayers, sweet child.

Only times I ever get any compassion or sympathy is when my stomach distends in multiple spots. Where I look like I'm in late term pregnancy and I normally have a 6 pack. Its just amazing how many people choose to remain ignorant to it and tell you to "quit faking being sick". Or "what?!? Your not coming into work today because you have a tummy ache"?? Just the audacity. If they only knew we never would catch ourselves faking a sickness if anything we become pros at faking we're doing well because we don't want the attention or to feel pity or an inconvenience to those around us. I had been fighting Crohn's for 2 years undiagnosed had gone to the ER during a extremely bad flare-up where I wasn't able to go to the bathroom for 8 days and my stomach was distended to the point that I had to sleep sitting up right and walked like a hunchback which is how the majority of my flare-up are these days. But after doing the contrast CT they had told me I'm more than likely has colitis or a slim chance of ulcerative colitis so being an idiot of a man that was too tough I need medical assistance I fought it White Knuckle for the next year-and-a-half until it's got the point where I was Rapid Cycling with flare-ups having extreme symptoms for weeks at a time and then maybe a couple weeks off and then right back to it with vengeance. So finally at the EGD colonoscopy and endoscopic contrast MRI done to confirm 100% that I have Crohn's and it's progressed to the point since I never sought treatment that my entire small bowel system is infected and inflamed right now along with inflammation and polyps in my large intestine and colon. My doctors wanted me on Humira immediately for concern that id need surgery soon if not but since its a new diagnosis and humira cost 8000 per dose insurance made me start at the tier 1 meds like budesonide, pentasa and ondansetrin. Non of which seem like they've gave me any relief whatsoever if anything it feels worse somedays

I have crohns too and it’s horrible, I was eleven when I was diagnosed and I went through 12 weeks of liquid feeding, a session of steroids and pain, pain, pain. I’ve had 4 flare ups in two years. I got bullied because I didn’t grow for ages and I was way smaller and less developed (boobs, periods etc.) I started a medication called azathioprine and it has honestly saved my life. I haven’t had a flare up in nine months and I am growing perfectly and healthy!!!

Even family who see me go through what I go through for almost 17 years have a hard time grasping the concept of what I go through on a daily basis. Misery doesn't cover how I feel most of the time. I was in Vietnam about a month ago and was really unwell everyday for the whole trip and when I came back all my tests to see what it was- came back saying I had a parasite (loads of people have it and get no symptoms ever) so when the medication for that didn't work I was pretty sad. I found out I had crohn's about a week ago and im currently having a pretty bad flare up but im really trying to keep my head up and keep going on with life even when all I want to do is sleep and stay inside. this video helped me so much. thankyou! xx

When I was 13 in August of 2018 I experienced a lot of the symptoms of crohns and I was on holiday too. The doctors told me it was just food poisoning and I'd be fine in a couple of days. They gave me buscopan and nothing worked. Later on they began to investigate me for a form of IBD. They did blood tests and samples and even a scope. My scope was last week and they found ulsers and inflamation. So yeah I have crohns. I have started a modulen diet and can't eat food or drink juice for 8 weeks. I'm 14 and it's all really scary. All I want is to be able to sit with my friends at lunch and eat food normally.

please take time to read this, it might help you my husband suffered from crohn's disease almost all his life and i can tell you that its really terrible, watching him get lean and pale worried me the more, he lost appetite, he was always and was unable to go to work again,he kept having sores in his mouth and the constant pain was making the situation worse. we kept going from one gastroenterologist to another, they were not helping the situation, they kept giving us different drugs and it was making it worse, they kept increasing the dosage, in 2016 when i went to cvs pharmacy to go and get another drugs for him, that was were i heard about dr folonsho a herbal doctor, who specialises in using natural roots and herbs to treat diseases and chronic pain. at first i was in doubt, because we have tried many options that were not helping and all the doctors we came across told us that there was no cure, and i believed, so i contacted this herbal doctor and he said he could help my husband, after i told him my problem, he said he has a herbal remedy that can heal my husband and reverse this illness completely and he will be back to his normal state of health, not having many alternatives anymore i requested for the herbal remedy, because the situation was getting worse, after using the medicine for about 3 weeks there was great improvement, and my husband was getting back to his normal self, its been 4 years now and my husband is still strong as ever, all thanks to dr folonsho, and may GOD continue to bless you, so if you are still sufferring from this disease kindly contact dr folonsho today either through email drfolonsho@gmail.com or via whats app +2348073410606 or you can check out his website drfolonshoherbalhome.simdif. com/ and you will be glad you did, i wouldn't want someone to experience what my husband did

For me i also have partial seizures and high blood pressure...I was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was 20 and was getting symptoms 6 months before my 20th bday. Had it for 14 now. Used to be on Humira and those painful stomach injection for 11 years until I stopped doing it regularly and my antibodies refused the medication. The Dr. Wanted me to take Remicade but I refused as I have venephobia and don't want to take biologics. I haven't been on meds for a year so far and just had a colonoscopy & endoscopy. Everything seemed to be clean and normal. The only thing that scares me is that I had an MRI last December and inflammation showed in my small intestines...2 months ago I took blood work and everything was normal even my inflammation levels. So I'm not sure if I need to take meds as I'm thinking of taking Stelera injections. I definitely do get symptoms depending what I eat and have fatigue almost daily. When I wake up I usually have to be in bed for 2-3hrs until the tiredness goes away. I'd recommend Vitamin D3, Turmeric, Ginger, antioxidants, cucumbers, grapes. Would not recommend Fast foods, or Restaurant foods that serve heavy amounts of grease. Get your organic foods from Farmers Market, or the fields...better to grow your fruits and vegetables if there is space. Go to bed a little bit hungry and consume wine a few times weekly if 21 or depending on your country laws.

I think I may have it. If I do get diagnosed with this it's probably the end of my life, I already have two serious illnesses and I certainly do not have a positive outlook on life.

Hello, I would avoid forums as I find them very negative. I think Instagram is the best place to find fellow IBD warriors :)

Zaiqa thank you for watching. Sorry I hear you’re having a hard time. There is no cure for Crohn’s disease at the moment, hopefully one day there will be!

I am curious, when people say 'bleeding' what amount of bleeding are you talking about? Spotting when you wipe or obvious rectal bleeding with bowel movements?

Danielle lee for me bleeding is when I get up and the toilet is full of blood. In saying that, when blood hits water it usually looks a lot worse than it is. Also I’m told if it’s bright red that’s normally an indication it’s not serious(unlike black/red tarry stools) :) I don’t get bleeding often at all, normally only once a year or so!

My girlfriend has crohns and she was thinking about staying off her infusion and doing it a more natural way. What do you or anyone else think of that idea?
