Benmont , I bought 4 hammond organs because of you, I met you in Santa Barbra, but I was too shy to talk to you, but so you know, you are my keyboard hero.
Interviews like this are such a treasure for fans who, like me, are still dedicated to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' music and legend ❤ I know I'm not the only one who considers all of Tom's music to be the soundtrack of their lives. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm such an avid fan that the day Tom passed, both my children called me to make sure I was okay. I feel honored that I got to be in the world at the same time as he was. I know it probably sounds corny, but it's true. Tom's music is timeless and will live on through generations to come.
Great interview!! Benmont Tench is the greatest keyboard artist in a rock and roll band,, ever, hands down. I can’t imagine Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers existing without Benmont. I’ll say the same for Mike and Tom, of course. The three of them were the connective tissue of the band.
thanks for watching MaryAnn. if you liked the video please subscribe for more interviews as they come through. We have a stack of new productions coming through all the time. All the best Paul
I have seen hundreds and hundred of concerts. I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers twice. Both times I was blown away. How can anybody play 2+ hours and play hit upon hit for the entire show and yet have to leave just as many unplayed? Tom is greatly missed.
Great interview , Mr. Tench is one of the most important players of the late Rock era in my opinion. To me Tom Petty's career can be split into before and after FULL MOON FEVER...after that record his songwriting and production became much more SINGER SONGWRITER-ish and less lead singer in a Rock band style wise. I love Wildflowers but I also loved SOUTHERN Accents , those are my two favorite Petty or Petty & The Heratbreakers albums. There are great songs on all the albums! Thanks.
On a list of Tom Petty albums rated from lowest to highest, Southern Accents is rated one of his lowest. I have always loved it and consider it one my favorites, so I no longer give any credence to such lists. Of course in my opinion, there are no bad Tom Petty albums.
thankyou for the kind words Marian. It was a pleasure to speak with Benmont. If you want more interviews like the one with Benmont please subscribe to the Noise11 channel on RUclips. all the best ... Paul
I don't know what it is, but to me Wildflowers just hits home above all other Petty albums. If I had to start my music collection all over again, Wildflowers would probably be the first album I would buy again.
I'm so glad I got to see the band twice.Philly & Jersey.I think some of the fans around me didn't like me singing along.Yeah,I was THAT guy.Very good interview and super-cool you got to work with the greats of your era. Can't wait to see the movie.
thanks for watching Jerri.I appreciate your kind words. If you liked the video please subscribe for more interviews as they come through. All the best Paul
I miss tom soo much, with that said, all of you Heartbreakers are in my thoughts, take care of yourselves, would love to see you all again in some reincarnation!!!
I bought and keep Benmont's solo album of 2014. He is a very important musician for decades and performed talented as the band's back vocal, but I have to say, Benmont's voice is no longer the same as 20 years ago.
Howie plays bass on just three songs on Wallflowers. Also "Don't Fade On Me" is just two acoustic guitars. There's nothing of that sort on a Heartbreakers album.
Film is awesome, saw it last week….got to take home the movie poster too…asked the guy as I was leaving and he said they were going to throw it away…smh…not on my watch, lol
Mr. Tench is an absolute legend

It's hard to think of a better keyboardist from the classic rock era than Benmont Tench, he really is the ultimate player.
hope you see this BT...thankyou for your candid, gentle manner...the grief has made way for insight...and gratitude

They all were. Tuned in on the same vibe. Howie was crucial to Tom with the harmonys. Those voices together expanded Toms delivery. Very subtely

cool chat but the tour with Bob in Australia was in 1986, in 1987 they played in Europe....

"I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers."
i know the real truth behind it all how i wrote it all the real truth of it all
their is someone missing the person that wrote it it was not them that wrote it
Excuse me if I, have some place in my mind, where i go time to time....
Benmont doesn't look well.
Sadly I agree with you. Hope we are wrong
