This is why he was charged. Could not activate lights and sirens as cops would in a regular pursuit as they weren’t fitted to QPS trail bikes. Because of that it was argued he should not have initiated a pursuit
The hilarious thing is if this had of been 2 years ago and he had called in someone not wearing a face diaper they would have had dozens of these so called "brave" cops there within minutes to beat and arrest the perpetrator.
What an incredible bike rider this officer is. It was pretty scary a few times there. I was so invested but he never got his perps!! Sad that he was supported by the people he was meant to though…
That has to be the scariest police chase I’ve seen. That poor cop - he has mad skills but i was holding my breath when the bus squeezed past him. It stuns me how few people use evasive driving techniques & even when they see a vehicle coming straight at them, they don’t slow down, don’t move over to create room (even when they can) & just seem to assume the other vehicle will magically miss them. I know many people must freeze & not be able to think quickly enough to check there’s no one beside them or up their a$$ so they can evade, but everyone should be constantly aware of where traffic is around them.
The officer on the bike was in contact with the base, for quite some time. I know little about procedure, but I am wondering why a more senior officer wasn't engaged to oversee the pursuit and call it off if that was the case. And obviously not enough police on the roads, as I didn't see even a hint of another police vehicle throughout the entire chase. A bit different from the videos of police chases in the U.S.
i respectfully disagree with most comments: the officer is pursuing w/out siren/lights.. putting many ppls lives in danger.. and for what crime? someone threatened an off-duty cop? i gave evidence of my neighbour threatening to slit my throat at my local GC cop station.. they wouldn't pursue it.. said I could have instigated it.. cop basically told me to suck it up.. that these things happen.. and if I pursue it then it may just make the neighbour more agro.. yet one of their own, and they act like they are in lethal weapon 2.. ridiculous.
p.s apparently they are specifically prohibited from pursuing on a dirt bike due to no lights/sirens... which makes sense.. because they can't warn the public of the oncoming threat to their safety. just my opinion.. not trying to change others
Completely agree. The thin blue line at work again. Does anyone really believe he would have risked not just his own life but public safety by initiating a per suit without light and sirens if the crime was against a member of the public

what a green light opportunity it is for Criminals in Qld with a no pursuit policy - basically run and we wont come after your entirely negates a police officers job - then Charges are brought against these brave men and women - what is happening
In Victoria for a while the Police had a 160kmh speed cap that if the offender went over the pursuit had to be terminated no matter what. You will never guess what happened... (and then after that they changed it and they don't say what the limit is now but if you drive on the wrong side of the road they will still terminate the pursuit)
Most of the time, all they have to do is just start driving on the opposite side of the road - police will have to terminate as they will cop the blame if the pursuit leads to a collision, even though the bell-end evading arrest is the one doing the dangerous driving.
Officer Venz should tell the upper echelon of Qld. Police to "stick it". He was trying to do his job after a fellow officer and his family were threatened with being killed by the 2 THUGS, and what does he get for his bravery....CHARGED by the polished seat brigade. This sends a message to other criminals that Police can't chase them so do as these mugs did. Well done senior Police you just presented those on the front line with more problems.
Sweet, so the take away from this is that you can be punished for doing your job well. Please don’t pretend to represent me with sound bites. Own your position, and argue for it. Don’t cowardly hide behind ‘the public want this’ when by that you mean you want it.
One of the safest and well calculated pursuits I have seen in a long long time. The Sergeant gave the suspects room so not to be right up their behind pushing them to go faster and take more risks than they are lady were. Yes he should have had emergency lights and siren but again this would have made the suspects run harder and the civilian vehicles often create more danger and do silly things when they hear sirens. You saw in this video how little civilian vehicles played a part…. Now go and watch pursuits or other emergency driving where police/fire/ambulance’ are trying to get through traffic and see how much of a crap show it is.
He should have got up alongside them early on once they started riding dangerously and snatched on their brake and dropped them on the ground. Job done, without endangering more people! And of course the gronks on the moped are heading to Cooli/Tweed 🙄
Question = would the public have been in as much danger if the pursuit did not occur, would they have reached the same speeds and was it worth it .... ANSWER NO ........ more people were put at risk by his actions .........when anyone breaks the law and a policeman breaks multiple laws to catch them and puts innocent people at risk doing so its just crazy... especially in todays amount of surveillance cameras that are active there is no need to chase anybody .

I was a NSW Police trail bike squad officer for 12 years. Have had dozens of pursuits with other motorcycles on and off road. That was nothing more than a cruise. Minimal danger. Some comments in this section are obviously from people who are risk adverse. Cowards in other words.

what the cop biker did was reckless. no lights or sirens; riding into oncoming traffic; a pursuit which he could have ended up killing a pedestrian. a uniform doesn't make it safer for other road users. he should have been stood down.
He shouldn't have been in pursuit then.. What ever the boys did wasn't worth him the police officer risking the lives of other road users. Keep up the good work even if your superiors don't appreciate it I certainly do. Thanks for keeping us safe.
Copper shouldn’t have gotten off that dangerous driving charge so easy. He literally was by definition riding dangerously, running red lights riding in a bike lane on the wrong side of the road, mounting footpaths, cutting off traffic and I could keep going on. Obviously the dickhead on the moped was doing the same but that does not justify the cop continuing the chase putting the public in danger.
I cannot believe that most comments think the police officer was doing the right thing.. No lights and sirens blasting thru red lights and driving on the wrong side of the roads is not him doing his job correctly.. If an innocent drive smashed I to the officer and he was badly injured or killed what would happen to that driver.. This was poor judgement on the officers behalf and he should be held accountable... Police officer must display emergency lights and sirens to go thru red light and be in pursuit of vehicles for the safety of the public...
my question is...would they have charged him and stood him down if he had in fact caught the two people making threats? hhmm, maybe not maybe just a suspension with pay. police should be held accountable but he was in fact doing his job was he not?
These people threatened an officer's family. Officer Venz should have received a commendation for skill and bravery. Where the hell was his back up!!!!
What were the factors that led to the charges? I would guess because he had no siren and blue lights and he cut off the car which beeped at 3:30 it was probably that car driver who complained. Well done and glad you got acquitted. As an emergency trained motorcyclist in the UK I am amazed that your machine had no audible warning fitted?
Happened at his home so I think the bike was his own.
@philtwowheels Mate the home was of an off duty copy but the officer on bike was on duty.
This is why he was charged. Could not activate lights and sirens as cops would in a regular pursuit as they weren’t fitted to QPS trail bikes. Because of that it was argued he should not have initiated a pursuit

The hilarious thing is if this had of been 2 years ago and he had called in someone not wearing a face diaper they would have had dozens of these so called "brave" cops there within minutes to beat and arrest the perpetrator.
it was june 2020. yeah when the only criminals going around on the streets were the cops...
Fark that cop has some stones. He threaded the needle so many times.
Sometimes that works to your advantage. it makes your path more predictable.
Great policing Queensland.
Bet if the suspects didn't have masks during Covid there would be 609 cops after them
Only in Victoria

absolutely. criminals are being protected by the courts.
I'm all for cops, but where he lost me was when he squeezed past those tradies & the ute on the footpath made me shake my head. that is where the pursuit should have ended.
what a green light opportunity it is for Criminals in Qld with a no pursuit policy - basically run and we wont come after your entirely negates a police officers job - then Charges are brought against these brave men and women - what is happening
Makes you want to resort to what ever means when it comes to your door.
Most of the time, all they have to do is just start driving on the opposite side of the road - police will have to terminate as they will cop the blame if the pursuit leads to a collision, even though the bell-end evading arrest is the one doing the dangerous driving.
The "woke" polished seat brigade just made those on the front lines jobs 10 times harder, and sent a message to thugs to do the same.
The cop had no lights or sirens. They didn't have them on the trail bikes.
Sounds like they need to watch some of the videos of bike pursuits from Brazil and take notes.
Did he have his sirens on because maybe the video blocked them out but I couldnt hear any
His vehicle didn’t have lights or sirens and was an unlawful pursuit.
He was calm and calculated at all times, his radio calls were professional and clear and he was aware of the traffic around him at all times. Congratulated with a punch in the nuts from his bosses. What a shit world we live in.
Copper is a hero .
Now to respond to Dept. or Qld Government ridicule for this brave officers action , shame on you . We as public want action for criminals actions.
Charged ? He should get a commendation.
He should have got up alongside them early on once they started riding dangerously and snatched on their brake and dropped them on the ground. Job done, without endangering more people! And of course the gronks on the moped are heading to Cooli/Tweed 🙄
The only thing Venz did wrong in this chase is not kick the bs off the moped.
Great work officer. Pity no one supported you. Useless law system.
respect to bike cops, this guys is just bobbin' and weavin'
Stupid law.. The officer should be allowed to pursue and take down/out these scumbags
Sadly it's the way things are in Australia. Police force is worried about the public coming after them if things go sideways..

Three different suburbs, going down one way streets, crossing highways with fences down the middle, makes it hard to be in the same place with a car when bikes can travel differently. There could have been some coming.

No lights, no sirens. What idiots. That officer caused more danger to the public than necessary.
Typical officials, crucifix the police officer for doing his job whilst not a word bad about the offenders and their actions. And they wonder why Queensland is in such a mess.
That’s what happens when you give the LEFT power 🤷🏻♂️
Pedantic: mopeds actually have pedals (where the ped comes from) and it's ensued, not in sued.
Yup. Yet again, my faith in the judicial system and governments to protect us from low lifes and criminals just took another bullet in the face. Apparently, its okay for them to do what ever they like with absolutely no accountability. But, its not okay to try to apprehend them. I thank the officer in the video for his service. Had that have been me, I would have walked away from my career in dismay and I personally know serving officers who have done exactly that due to lack of support from the establishment. CRIMS RULE.
Officer did the right thing in my mind, Also was it just me or did that trail bike have ELS and Siren
Police trail bikes in QLD dont have lights and sirens and that is the reason he is not supposed to chase....In the bush maybe but not on a road
And the crims win again that officer was doing his job.

That’s not a damaged ego at all. If someone threatened myself and my family I’d chase them down as well. And to end the pursuit all these scumbags needed to do was pull over.
I was a NSW Police trail bike squad officer for 12 years. Have had dozens of pursuits with other motorcycles on and off road. That was nothing more than a cruise. Minimal danger. These offenders allegedly threatened a Police officer and his family which I would rate as a serious offence. Compared to how we operated 20 years ago I would say that officer was extremely restrained. I have taken out numerous offenders on motorcycles and owing to the gravity of the offence taken them out on this occasion. Unfortunately most police management got to there positions because they are YES men and most have spent there career behind a desk and have a much different view on risk compared to police risking there life every day. Some comments in this section are obviously from people who are risk adverse. Cowards in other words.
Seems weird that the Police Force would equip officers with dirt bikes so they can pursue other bikes on and off road, as well as other duties, and then, when they do their job they get charged and stood down.
I know we have a no pursuit policy here but geez...

Read through the comments. Trouble is that everyone is a lawyer. "They shouldn't have pursued them because the Police bike didn't have warning lights and sirens". Typical of the public that would be the first to complain if the Police didn't chase them. Hats off to the Police. The police hierarchy need to take a very long hard look at themselves for the way they treat serving police.
Well done that officer. You should move to a police force that stands by its officers and backs them up. Disgraceful QLD.
Reckless riding. What if it resulted in a crash injuring innocent people. If it's an issue, call in air support.
Media says he was off duty and this was the police officers own motorbike. I think the ones he was chasing said "you are dead you dog" or something similar. I do find it a bit reckless that he is chasing them, through caravan parks etc.. No sirens to warn people etc etc.
Oh FFS he's wearing a police body worn camera!
Why was he charged for, he was DOING his job, he tried so hard to apprehend the defendant, if anyone should be charged, I say this open hearted, it should’ve been the two on the moped, rego number check, oops you gotta leave a licence number too, won’t be long, they’ll catch you.. a..holes. Grrr makes me so cranky…
what the cop biker did was reckless. no lights or sirens; riding into oncoming traffic; a pursuit which he could have ended up killing a pedestrian. a uniform doesn't make it safer for other road users. he should have been stood down.
💯
Seems like some strongly adhesive gps tracker tags launched from a gun of sorts would solve a few of the issues highlighted in the video.
If you’re going to pursue someone maybe you should use your sirens when you’re riding on the wrong side of the road or blasting through red lights
He didn't have any....
He shouldn't have been in pursuit then.. What ever the boys did wasn't worth him the police officer risking the lives of other road users. At no point did it look like the officer was exceeding his capabilities of himself or the bike. He looked as if he was just going onna Sunday ride. It's a joke, Electric scooters go faster then that. Wish they got trapped by the council workers on the footpath. They were literally flapping their arms making a mockery.
You know your not doing so well in life if you're unable to have a licence and unregistered bike and need to run from the police.
Wow... it's good to his his dept had his back!
Punish a police officer for doing his job. This is insane. Pretty soon when you need police they wont attend due to getting in trouble. What kind of bureaucratic idiocy is this. Great effort by this officer. If that was me those fools would have been knocked from their moped at speed. Need more cops like this. Keep up the good work even if your superiors don't appreciate it I certainly do. Thanks for keeping us safe.
props to this officer did an amazing job, judge should be ashamed of themselves
Copper shouldn’t have gotten off that dangerous driving charge so easy. He literally was by definition riding dangerously, running red lights riding in a bike lane on the wrong side of the road, mounting footpaths, cutting off traffic and I could keep going on. Obviously the dickhead on the moped was doing the same but that does not justify the cop continuing the chase putting the public in danger.
I support the cop.
No one would believe those tradies about what happened on the footpath that day
It’s annoying when the criminals aren’t the ones to blame but the people trying to fight them. It’s backwards.
my question is...would they have charged him and stood him down if he had in fact caught the two people making threats? hhmm, maybe not maybe just a suspension with pay. police should be held accountable but he was in fact doing his job was he not?
Seems like they don't they have sirens on QLD police trail bikes.

What were the factors that led to the charges? I would guess because he had no siren and blue lights and he cut off the car which beeped at 3:30 it was probably that car driver who complained.
Where is his siren?
Why is the police bike so underpowered?
Where is the back up?
