    One extra squeeze of fuel, is considered overfilling tank by manufacture and is number one cause of EVAP failures. Tank needs that space in tank to pull a vacuum without sucking up raw fuel. While fuel is bad for the system, the Ethanol in fuel deteriorates rubber components, the major cause of leaks in EVAP systems.

      Actually, you are incorrect. I went to a GM training class years ago and the instructor said manufacturers design the fuel tanks with enough space so you can click the fuel pump nozzle a few times and be ok, he said they do that because they know not all fuel pump nozzles are the same and not all people are the same and depending on the temperature the amount of fuel will be different in each tank so they make sure there is plenty of space for expansion. He said what you don't want to do is keep clicking it until the fuel is coming all the way up to the neck and it won't take anymore.
      Also, modern cars are all built with alcohol-compatible O-rings, seals, and rubber hoses, the main cause of Evap leaks is the rubber getting brittle due to age. I am from a state that doesn't have any ethanol in the gas and they have just as many EVAP problems as we do here in Texas.

    Hey 737mechanic, I believe I noticed that you are DFW based. I am about to replace the blend door on my 2014 Camaro and I wanted to ask if it was possible to meet up with you and use your scan tool to calibrate the actuators (I will pay). I do not have access to one otherwise. Let me know if this is possible. Thank you!

    How about non ethanol vs ethanol?
    Both my vehicles improved about 3 to 4 mpg with non ethanol.

    is yours the 5.3? Are you running 0w20 oil? It looks as though your oil press is higher when at idle.

      @@737mechanic the W isn’t for weight, oil companies don’t measure oil by weight. The W is a Classification of oil which translates to Commercial and Personal Vehicles. Trains, Planes and other things use different classification oils that most people call “weight”.
      The thickness, or weight as yall call it is the First Number. The second describes how much stuff is in it.
      Last time I owned a 4Runner it had 5W30… why is ever Car Brand switching to 0W20? Even the new Dodge Rams have 8 quarts of 0W20..! It can’t be because of fuel economy… if so, then everyone should switch to Amsoil and turn their 4Runner into a Million Mile Monster like the Tundra V-8 and the Ram 3rd Gen Cummins 5.7L I-6 Turbo. Just saying, $15 per quart may be worth it (7K oil chances, more minerals, full synthetic).

    I want to know if i can disable dod with the tuner and still pass california emissions

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  Год назад

      I am sure you can, we have to pass the emissions test here; all they look at when they plug their machine in is if there are any codes and everything looks good. You could always re-enable it before taking in for the emission test then disable it after you get back home.
