It takes your breath away and I had to have it. Today we're taking a look at the beginning of my DYI install of Monet's kitchen tile. It's not going as planned, but I'm ever optimistic that I will get the look that I want with my very own Monet's kitchen tile. Stay tuned later this week for the INCREDIBLE end result!
You are the most glamorous diyer!! 😂. You inspire me Angela, you have such depth and richness to you. The tiles look amazing! I think they have more meaning because you carefully painted each one. Wow
I can just hear your grandchildren someday.... praising your skills!! And what a GrandPa he will be... just cause he supports your dreams! Love the life that you can make at HOME 🏡 💙
I HAVE to know the make of that perfectly green corduroy jacket!! And…I can’t wait for the director’s cut video. Real-time, anytime. We’re here with you!
Did I read "keeping up with the Nascar race".?? I like you even more than I did!!!You really are an amazing and talented person. Those tiles are perfection.
I understand your passion for redoing your home. I had that same passion 16-17 years ago when we were doing ours. If I had painted those tiles, I would be handling them with kids gloves, that’s a lot of work!
Stunning! Also, I had no idea you’d built that faux fireplace!!! Is there a video for that? We are looking ahead to our kitchen remodel and I’m wondering…. Hmmmmm…
When I did my kitchen in the country I was very inspired by Giverney also. I had bought so many blue and white tile patterns that I couldn't decide so I continued to buy more types and in the end I did a patchwork of them and it was great. We had bought a Cornue wood burning stove which looked fantastic against it. I had the walls painted yellow and a friend gave me as a housewarming gift, a set of six japanese wood block prints. My dresser was an old shop counter and the wall unit I made up from another broken counter and some fretwork oak I found in the trash. We used the old terracotta roof tiles on the floor which wasn't the best idea as that made the floor very uneven. My favorite detail was the Dutch door, being in the country it was most useful, especially for neighbours to lean on when they smelt my jam making ! We sold the house mid renovation as it was a money pit and we had so much trouble finding sober workmen ! No regrets. I am moving into an old house in south west France which has a tiny kitchen needing complete makeover so am in the middle of finding sink, tiles and worktops , so much fun.
When we redid our house almost 30 years ago we also had chaos but boy was it worth it raising our kids in there. My husband and teen age son laid short pieces of oak flooring and I put on a glaze poured it on like 5 coats. It turned out beautiful and lasted for the 30 years. So don’t give up you are going to be so happy and proud of your work.
Hi Angela ! the tiles look so so good !! Here in Indiana we have also noticed how bad the wood is getting at the big box chains, it is awful !! One day at a time you will get it done ! take care, Paula p.s your blue eyes are stunning
Angela, I worked at a box store and my darling husband and oldest son still do. I-they will tell you this is TRUE - the quality of their wood is TERRIBLE!!! But as always, you get what you pay for. In comparison, lumber yard prices are higher, but the quality is better! I'm confident that you were able to make it work, I've been there SO many MANY times.🙄😊😘💕💗
Oh....well, ironically I'm a hugger...(it's ironic because nobody actually encouraged this behavior in my family)...but once I discovered people who actually hug, I realized that is rather quite helpful! So I feel you needed a little hug of encouragement...nothing sloppy...a bit of a pat on the back and an atta-girl! (Everything is looking fabulous!!! ❤❤❤) Keep Calm and...well, you know 😊
You’re so right! Lowe’s and Home Depot lumber is horrible. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I know you’re jumping for joy to have it complete!
Very cosy, Angela.Well done! i do have tiles above my stove. Living in the Netherlands antique tiles are rather easy to get/ buy. i was in Giverny in the nineties and absolutely loved all of it, the house and the gardens.
I feel your pain on the poor-quality wood from the box stores! We had a similar experience recently ourselves. SO frustrating !!! However, your tiles are gorgeous and giving some inspiration!
These are my favorite videos! (I appreciate all of yours!) But the ones where you're just going for it in real time ... gardening, cleaning windows, tiling, thrifting. It feels like I'm there with you and its just a treat. So sorry about the wood snapping. I would have sworn AND cried!
The tiles are beautiful! Blue and white tiles are used a lot on my country which is Portugal I love the way it s all coming along I can’t wait to see it all done ❤
Love the tile, still love the door. I have so enjoyed your kitchen through the years, and have no doubt that when it is complete with tile, drapers table and all your treasures it will be like birthing a baby the joy will out with the pain.
Your video looks likely you're driving an English design automobile :-) recently too had a large wooden fence project. My son and I went through 3 stacks of redwood fencing! Needed 600. Went to Lowe's too. Here in Nor CA We have ACE Hardware stores. Not totally better. Nonetheless we purchased what was needed . Phew. He's here & termites must be getting the good stuff! :-)
Maybe plant some oaks and birches and robinias and making your own solid wooden planchets....... in ten years :) We do not know this problems in the Netherlands. Great quality wood is for sale everywhere.
I love watching all of your projects, but you really threw me with watching NASCAR. Not something I would associate with you and makes me love you even more! Not because I love NASCAR mind you, but I love your wide, varied, unpredictable interests! My goal is to go on one of your Paris trips. Right now we are spending way too much money on projects and have too many out of town/country relatives that we ought to visit. Some day, though!
For the amount of projects you do, would it be worth the effort of looking into a local sawmill? My dad’s hobby was furniture building and now in retirement he has a lumber business selling specialty wood.
For an finishing edge front piece like that don’t you know someone in your area that can basically “make” an edge piece of wood (like Harper does for Joanna Gaines?). Id think it worth the sourcing and finishing touch instead of busted up wood from Home Depot.
Nuance darling:) it WAS warm and the wind got colder and colder as I filmed. I live one mile from Lake Michigan. It changes on a dime. By the time I was unloading my truck it was freezing and was so strong it knocked my tripod down while filming.

"I dig that about you, baby" - in my best Rod Tillman voice:)
So exciting watching that tile go up on the wall!! 😆 It’s BEAUTIFUL!! 👌
I'm pretty giddy myself.

I’m not easily impressed BUT GIRL!!!! That tile is just gorgeous and what a labor of love.
Then that's high praise indeed.
I can just hear your grandchildren someday.... praising your skills!! And what a GrandPa he will be... just cause he supports your dreams! Love the life that you can make at HOME 🏡 💙
Your tiles look beautiful!! Nothing ever goes smoothly in real life, we just have to keep plugging along! 🤷♀️
I totally agree with you.

I sort of drifted away when Junior retired, cause he was my guy. LOVE. But, I'm coming back, it's changed so much, but I miss it.

I’m in Awe with your beautiful Monet inspired tiles! I’m sure with the finished product it will be wonderful. Miracles do happen!😊
The tile is really beautiful!
I am so glad you fixed the music! The former loop made it hard to watch. I'm loving everything, it is so nice to see your tiles etc come together.
? I was unaware this video had any audio problems. I changed nothing. You can't change files on RUclips once they are loaded. Sadly.
Hello Angela, I had to fast forward to see your tile: exquisite!!! This room is going to be the STAR in your home.
Congratulations, Julie 🌷

Tiles are lovely .cant you find an old piece of wood from somewhere?
It's gonna end up just right.
For the amount of projects you do, would it be worth the effort of looking into a local sawmill? My dad’s hobby was furniture building and now in retirement he has a lumber business selling specialty wood.
Black and white harlequin omg I’m dying!!!!! I love it!!
I can’t wait.
I don’t understand. Isn’t there usually a space in between each tile in order to apply the grout?
There are built in 1/8th inch spacers.
Do you have a video detailing your background and how you became a Francophile? I’m so curious.
One of my favorite videos. The answer might be here if I remember correctly: ruclips.net/video/kUySajY3Pw4/видео.htmlsi=FWaesmHd0wvDAfz2

Help here is IMPOSSIBLE. Just impossible. If I wanted to wait two years and then get blown off:)
No space for grout ?
Wait, the steering wheel is on the typical (American) passenger side?
No, sometimes when I film myself I forget to flip the screen during the editing:)
Is there really not a local lumberyard around there to use?
Will unpack more of the story on Friday:)
I grouted my blue and white tiles with sunshine yellow grout !
COOL!
So you don’t speak the truth in your videos? You say how warm it is…in short sleeves then next clip you say that was not truth 😪
Nuance darling:) it WAS warm and the wind got colder and colder as I filmed. I live one mile from Lake Michigan. It changes on a dime. By the time I was unloading my truck it was freezing and was so strong it knocked my tripod down while filming.
@@ParisienneFarmgirl oh brother…you are much kinder than I would be with dumb comments people like this woman make. I mean good grief !
Looks gorgeous!❤
