Ross, save the sawdust and mix it with yellow glue. You can fill in the cracks with it. I always carry one of my many Gerbers. Don't leave home without it. Nice job on the table. Bend some coat hangers to form clips to hold the table cloth down. Staples can really ruin a picnic. Take care and stay safe. PS: I have to do my table this fall.

Oh! Smart with the sawdust! I could have filled in so many of the knots and cracks! I'll know for next time. And I'll have to find some wire coat hangers as most of ours are plastic! But another great idea! Thanks a bunch, have a good weekend!

Hi Phil! Thanks. Ya it's a mega table for sure. A tractor is a wonderful thing, and so helpful. Have a super fantastic weekend!

Nice size picnic table for gatherings Ross. Those Milwaukee Forge batteries are great. Good idea to give the table a coating to protect it from harsh weathering.

I am really impressed with them! I'm happy to have the table protected, and I'll be doing my fences later this summer but with the natural golden stain not the gel based stuff, and definitely not Slate grey! Haha. Have a super weekend.

Methinks I would buy new boards for the top, as that splitting is from old age and sun drying of the wood. When I think of it, there would be a lot less work ( sanding ) with new boards. (Maybe for the seating boards too ) Great table though.

Hey Reg, I agree they are getting old so it's something I'll have to look into in the future, but for now it'll hold up well for another few years. I was thinking I could cut the ends off and add a "bread board" end to it and maybe that'd help. We'll see. Much appreciated, and have a great weekend.

@@RossOnTheLand Yes, now that you've got it sanded and panted/stained it looks like it'll do for quite a few more years.
      Nice job.

Haha! I thought it was a liquid stain, not a gel coat, I would have liked to spray it on.
