No.1 90's toy was Robocop. Sold to children and advertised to children. A movie about a guy who was blown to #### by shotguns and stopped a rapist by blowing off his ####. Later, a guy was drenched in acid and hit by a car. We were living in the world of OCP without even knowing it.
...So, those single word responses? Stoic wisdom posturing or cave man speech? Incidentally, we do live in an OCP like world, but nothing a little Clarence Boddicker attitude cant' fix.
The sequel SHOULD HAVE emphasized Robocop/Murphy's humanity. It should have shown him getting more and more human. And falling in love. Not with Anne Lewis, but with a technician who worked at OCP and, little by little, realized there is a human soul within all the hardware. She brings out all of his human emotions. And because of the milieu, something horrible would have to happen to her--
I dont know, even its being made in 1987. I still love the old design of Robocop. It looked like more "Robo" than the Joel Kinnaman's 2014. And still, Peter Weller is the best Murphy.
