    Very instructive. One friend of mine is a Judoka. We once tried some light fighting, without protections and tatami. I think there’s a great chance that karate guys hurt their knees while trying to get behind judo guys, because judo’s neutral stance puts their knees in the way and so 1) either they get throw you in a second, or 2) you hit your knee against theirs while stepping behind them and you both end up with a knee injury. What you think about it? Congrats on your new video indeed! 👍👍

      Try positioning the front foot inside the foot line and pivoting around the knee to create an initial side angle which should allow you to establish a single leg control. If your opponent counters thats ok because the counter is predictable so make sure you think through there natural responses and how you will follow.

      @@DanielPyatt I appreciate it and I will use your suggestions in my training. Of course with als measures of security. I train Matsubayashi-Ryu, my friend trains MMA...he is fascinated about the intelligence and art of Karate, specially the history and the "classical" Okinawan Karate. Greetings from Frankfurt am Main / Germany. Stay safe.

    Recognizable kata bunkai

      Can be found in many. Funakoshi explicitly refers to it in Passai but what gets really interesting when you consider all the variations of the various forms of Passai and how those changes affect the application 👍🏻

    Isn't ude wa just a karate version of a double leg takedown? I don't see why it wouldn't work well from the front.

    • @DanielPyatt
      @DanielPyatt  Год назад +1

      Yes, it is the basic version of a double or single leg. On the main instructional I cover a selection from the front and this is just bonus content
