  • Welcome to Volume 2 of our How To: series!
Today we are talking about How To: Beat A Heavy Hitter.
These kinds of players are effective because they hit a big ball. This can be intimidating and hard to find a rhythm against, as you feel like you have no time.
There are a few steps to beating a player who hits a big ball, that get covered in this video!
    - Mental Belief - I can beat this kind of player
    - Changing pace/spins on the ball - adding different speeds and spins to keep them out of their rhythm
    - Compact unit turn - making sure contact point remains in front
    - Slice approach shots - keeps the ball low and allows you to close for the volley
Watch this video for more analysis on how you’re able to beat a heavy hitter!

They are very intimidating, I try to keep it on their backhand side to have a ball I can deal with cause their FHs are killer. Thank you for the tips very legit 💪🏽

Great tips, thanks! The atp clips are nice but rallies with Delpo and Soderling might have shown your points more clearly...

Please do a series of videos how a slicer can beat all the other game styles. These videos cannot suggest the use of any topspin, have to stay within the limits of the style that work under match pressure.

LOOL! Monfils is a heavy hitter??? Yes, he can hit a flat bomb, which has a 50% chance to hit a back fence, but it’s not what a heavy hitter is!! Nadal is a greatest example of heavy hitter, the one that pushes you back with high but still very fast ball due to a tremendous amount of topspin.

Just deflect their ball every time

If you can consistently do it deep - yes. But typically blocks will go short - which they will be able to step in and hit a winner past you

True heavy hitters just love when someone is slicing at them, as the can easily create their own spin and slice allow them to hit the ball on the rise. See matches when Fed tried to use his super slice vs Nadals FH, it didn’t really work.
