- This soundtrack originated from Killzone 2 titled by the same name.
The Helghan Empire was the totalitarian governing body on planet Helghan, ruling over the Helghast people. The founder and first ruler of the Empire was Autarch Scolar Visari.
The Empire was the instigator of the Second Extrasolar War in which they attempted to conquer the entire Alpha Centauri system and expanding its domination over Earth's colonies. They failed to achieve their goals and which lead to ISA retaliation, which in turn resulted in the death of Autarch Visari and a volatile power struggle amongst the Helghast leadership pursued. Ultimately, the Empire was utterly decimated in a planet-wide devastation, the Terracide, in 2360.
The survivors of planet Helghan were granted refuge on Vekta where they founded New Helghan, the official successor state of the Empire. Those that remained on Helghan were secretly united under Jorhan Stahl and slowly rebuilt Helghan's military might, and swearing revenge on their enemies.

funny thing about this story was that if you really pay attention to the lore the people of Helghan were the victims all along even on the late games.
Still vasari and stalh are very evil. The people may not be but the leaders are.

@@warforge_jp yea but that still gave way to a dictator, tbh yes they were treated like sh*t by the UCA but not the isa or vekta. Yet they take it out on them, the helghast may have been victims but it doesnt mean they should do what they did

Very true. It shows how far down a people are capable of going when they have a victim narrative to excuse their horid actions. You can justify a lot of evil by saying "Well their forefathers did it to us first."
Defenders of the helghast dream we exist as long as we remember so get out there spread the word spread art writing whatever but let them know the helghast shall rise again

I loved the Helghast. They were my favourite sci fi space nazis, and I think it says something when they were written a lot better than the ISA. Visari's speech in the second game's intro in particular made me feeling patriotic about a country I don't think I would ever want to be born into.
I really wish they would release Killzone 1, 2 & 3 on PC one day. But alas, I fear that Killzone has reached its end.

@AmeriFolksFellow VM. DP. Rhaefnhyrst No, I meant did I fucking ask you to make a college essay lecturing me about what national socialism is? The entire aesthetic of the Helghast is based on the Nazi's, with a little sci fi put into it. Their uniforms, for one.

@@CapitalTeeth I mean.. The Helghast aren't exactly Nazis, the ISA stole their home first. The game developers most likely wanted the Helghast to look like Nazis just for people to assume they're the bad guys when they aren't. I will admit that in Killzone 3 they did turn rather immoral, but they had everything taken away from them. Also, why so aggressive?
Besides appearance, there really isn't anything that makes the Helghast Nazis. They have no racial motivations, Hell I don't think they even see race at all. They allow women to serve in their military as elite Frontline troops and considering it's Helghan that's a position earned, not given upfront. Even with their animosity towards the Vektans, or rather Earth, it's not for superficial reasons like the Nazis had towards the Jews but because they actually stole their homeland even though they legally owned it. Also most Helghast propaganda usually consists of motivational quotes and Helghast troops killing ISA troops.
The ISA act more like Nazis than the Helghast tbh. The average Vektan actively looks down upon the Helghast. Sure they had embassies but if Vektan propaganda is anything to go by, the Helghast to the Vektans are what zombies are to humans, in terms of appearance. And let's also mention the fact the ISA went out of their way to build a WMD not once, or twice, but three times. The third one in particular was a literal DNA bomb tested on Helghast immigrants on Vekta and the only reason it never went through is because they found out Helghast and Vektan DNA are identical.
The Helghast only look the part, they don't act like it.

Killzone is and always will be, my favorite game. Wished we could have a serie we played as Helghast, to see their view of the war.
I kinda hoped that shadow fall would have had two campains, one obviously being kellan but i thought we were gunna get one for echo, like echos campain would be earlier then his and we play as a loyal echo who starts to see the cracks in the helghast ideology and eventually at the end defys them. With kellans starting like halfway into echos run where shes a prisoner and stuff.
I thought with the cover with two eyes, one vektan and the other helghast and with echo and kellan being so shown off that wed get that but allas its one whole isa campain and one epilogue of echo against isa. Its sad be because they have the botzone/multiplayer character models in the game which could be reskinned helghast enemys maybe but idk

Tomorrow we launch the greatest military campaign in our history
Long live the real Killzone series. Shadow Fall was the nail in GGs coffin that killed Killzone. I love and still love playing the game KZ 1 through KZ 3, SF was and still is such a let down and complete failure for GG. I miss the online play, they did need more maps for us all to play on of course. PS hoped it would have been Xboxs HALO killer but did not matter, still is one of the all time best games PS introduced to us all and got us addicted 🙂
Would it have killed Gorilla Games to make Helghan pov campaign? Or at least let Visari survive?!

From childhood to this day, I have been very fond of our descendants of the Helghasts, since childhood I have been fond of Alpha Centauri and the planet Helgan itself, and I hate the developers for the cliché plot and the company that they failed, the Helghasts are the best in everything and they are not villains, in this game you can it was to combine 2 alternative plots where you can play for the Helghan Empire as well as for the Zkmlyans (Vektans), the developers just drowned this good game with their feet in the dirt and forgot about it, no wonder why the rental failed, but all because the Fans want a full story walkthrough for the Helghast, save Cities on Helghan, help Colonel Mael Radek, save Wizarri, prevent the Teracids, defeat the bastards from the earth

Guerilla did them dirty. As much as they advertised the Helghast in the games they also wanted to treat them like a rented mule.
And the thing is they didn't even lose the Second Extrasolar War, Guerilla just wanted to make sure they could barely recover.
