    As a classically trained "Pankeyist" I've recently acquired a scooped open back and started fooling around with Clawhammer. I think A LOT of stuff you teach translates quite well! Thanks for this, and everything you do Saint Jimbo.

    I ve just started learning different banjo tuning, and your piece is just amazing. In one of your lives you said that banjo tuning is just a part of playing and you can always tune your banjo different. To feel it different. The double C-tuning is sounding so different for me. It is like deeper or not so ...crispy as the standart one? I dont know, but i just want to thank you, Jim about letting me now this amazing sound of yours.
    Wish you all the best and amazing holidays! Thank you!

    Hi Jim. Love this video. As I enjoy playing and singing along to songs (in private lol) I really like clawhammer style. The strumming down type motion is ok, but I am really having to persevere with the thumb. it's slowly beginning to feel more natural. More clawhammer lessons would be great please.

    I'm a little confused, are other strings supposed to ring out when you play the 4 and 2?

  • @gherat
    @gherat 8 месяцев назад

    When I tune it down to C the strings get really sloppy, do I need thicker strings?

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  8 месяцев назад +1

      The only string you're tuning lower is the 4th string and it shouldn't be that sloppy. The 2nd string goes higher (from a b to a c), so it should be tighter.

    Is clawhammer always played on a banjo without a resonator? Seems like every clawhammer video I find is on an openback.

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  3 года назад +2

      A lot of people play clawhammer on open backs, but quite a few use resonator banjos too. Grandpa Jones is an easy example.
