Can a man like that kill the son who had put him through financial hell and the wife who might have threatened to divorce him (hence wedding ring under the car seat), when she had the properties in her name so he could evade civil suits? I think Alex went down to the kennels that night with the intent to kill Paul and Maggie, and then frame it as Paul killed Maggie with the blackout, and then Paul loaded a buckshot and turned the shotgun to his chest and committed suicide.
    Double aught buckshot from a 12 gauge is what police officers fire out of their standard issue shot guns to take down bad guys. At close point blank range it would blow a hole through you.
    Alex only intended to fire one shot at Paul, with shotgun by his hip and the nose of the barrel point blank at Paul’s heart. But Paul must have flinched just in time where the buckshot missed his heart and went through his side and out through his armpit and into his arm and clear through to the window. It was so point blank the wadding went into him.
    If Alex would have been dead center shot on the first shot it would have blown a hole through Paul’s heart/lungs and would have dropped him dead. He then was going to turn around and grab the blackout and gun down Maggie.
    But he missed his heart and Paul didn’t go down. He must have fell backwards and then at that point had to fire the second shot of birdshot to take him out.
    Once Alex fired the second shot his “Staged Framing Paul killed Maggie and then killed himself with a shotgun blast to his chest murder suicide plan” went out the window and all hell broke loose.
    He still had to take out Maggie at that point and he did. But had he killed Paul with that one shot he could have staged the shotgun on/near Paul like he committed suicide and then left the rifle wherever it lay and start his cleanup process. He fired from the hip upward to make it look like Paul turned the shotgun on himself.
    But once he fired that second shot the only thing it could be was a double homicide. So he had to get rid of Paul’s guns, clean up really good and then get to his mom’s for an quick alibi.
    If his plan had of worked and the first shot killed Paul and he staged the scene well enough then he wouldn’t even had to have left his house for an alibi.
    His story about napping on the couch would be good enough if it looked like Paul killed Maggie then killed himself.
    He would have only had to clean up his body from blood/GSR and dispose of his clothes and then put on another generic pair of khakis and a blue button down shirt and drive down to the kennel and call 911. He would have had plenty of time to do all that if his staged murder/suicide plan worked.
    Instead he had to kick it into overdrive to his mom’s house and likely hide guns/clothes, and then stay for 20 minutes for an alibi.
    If his plan was double homicide then he wouldn’t have used Paul’s guns. But he was going to stage it and frame Paul for Murder/Suicide. That’s why it had to be Paul’s guns. If it was hit job the hitmen would have brought their own guns. If alex was going to do it solo he would have hid some non-identifiable guns out there in the shop that he could then dispose of.
    But that wasn’t his plan, and then when he missed the chest shot and had to fire a second shot to the head, all his planning went out the window.
    I also think that his one minute stop before he pulled out of his mom’s could have been him running down those railroad tracks in front of his mom’s house to hide something in the woods next to the track, or maybe even lay evidence on the tracks to be ran over by the midnight train.

    I think the prosecution did a good job but completely overlooked what was an obvious point of contention for him, which was that he felt his wife was “privileged enough not to work”. He mentioned this on several different occasions and I think he had built up a HUGE amount of resentment at her over the fact that it was solely up to him to keep up the appearance of leading the wealthy Murdaugh lifestyle and that he’d been “forced” to steal so much money for so long in order to do so. Add to that Paul’s “boat wreck” which had brought shame to the family name along with the added financial blow, due to being sued, and then his wife and son having the audacity to team up against him over his “pill problem”. There’s no doubt he harboured hatred for them to be able to do what he so obviously did to them - in the manner with which he did it. I think, in his mind, he could as easily justify killing Maggie and Paul as when stealing millions of dollars from vulnerable clients, unsuspecting colleagues and friends. Sick, sad, and pure evil.

    • @challengel5675

      I agree, I think he was really resentful of his wife not working and co-sharing all his wealth, refusing to sign for the sale of the beach property, possibly making demands for more money from him. His son Paul's heavy drinking and inability to control himself when drunk, hence the boat accident. Alex being sued as a result, than his finances being looked at closely after stealing for a decade. In his reasoning they become excess baggage and he wanted a new start without them.

    Drug addicts are master manipulators. I have worked as a RN for many years, and learned early on about the manipulative behavior. Perfect example here.

    • @JessBlake2
      @JessBlake2 Год назад +1

      @gailseals3206, sorry, but youre wrong about your characterization of drug dependency. The problem arises when a person is using prohibited drugs because they are forced to interface with an illegal drug industry. You wouldn't denigrate someone who requires frequent injections of insulin to live. Prohibition forces people underground and then people do what you just did which is blame them for hiding.
      AM has a bad character. That has nothing to do with drug dependency.

    • @gailseals3206
      @gailseals3206 Год назад

      @@JessBlake2 Both non narcotic drugs and and narcotics are available legally, and narcotics are generally taken short term when prescribed by a doctor. Insulin in no way compares to mind altering drugs that people take to "get high". I have found that those who are addicted to narcotics tend to have no accountability. They often lie to save themselves from being held accountable for their own actions, steal to support their habits, and blame others for the things they have done. They never take responsibility for their actions. Murdaugh is a perfect example of that.

    • @angusmurray3767
      @angusmurray3767 Год назад

      @@JessBlake2 You are absolutely wrong.
      AM may well be fundamentally psychopathic
      by nature but there are plenty of psychopaths around who don't commit murder. But addiction changes people's rationale. The bounds that they put on their inclinations simply go out of the window. They stop caring about the consequences of their actions, like getting caught or causing grief to other people. It's not a compartmentalised approach to life where selling your soul to get drugs is justifiable (to you) but other evil behaviour is not allowed. Morality in general simply goes out of the window. And drugs actually alter your brain architecture and the way it functions, so the effects will be seen across the whole spectrum of behaviour, not simply those involved in obtaining drugs. This is why drugs are so dangerous to society because they alter the way people think. And that's just as true of cannabis as it is of heroin.
