Creighton letting alex talk himself into a corner was such a great move. You could see how mad alex was getting but had to control himself because the jury was watching.
You are right he starts getting really pissed around the 2:00 mark and then you can tell he simmers back down because all eyes were on him

YES! I totally agree. He's G U I L T Y! His entire alibi is full of lies! That video and the GPS/GM data has nailed him. I just hope the jury feels the same way.
Let’s not forget he deleted his calls and messages. Also not the act of an innocent person.

I loved that “ sit down Mr Griffin”
😃
This prosecutor is brilliant how he would drop a bomb, then torture Murdaugh with uncomfortable silence, as it just got him explaining with lies. Waters was playing chess and Murgaugh was playing checkers.
When a person say, “say that again” or repeat the question and say is that what you mean, they are buying more time to confirm or make up more lies.
EXACTLY!
TRUE!
Yes!!!!
Not always. If I was innocent and on trial I’d still want my words to be perfect.
Unfortunately this man who actually is a liar has helped that theory, however that is not always true. People can have processing issues what it may take extra time to respond. Definitely not the case here but I do not fully process things I hear the first time around…..I’ve even guessed responses that don’t always fit because I get tired of having to ask people to repeat what they say because it seems annoying to them. Just something to consider…..delayed process isn’t always an indicator of a lie just
Like they claim looking away is a “lie detector”……. That is not always the case either.
He's not an addict. He shaved his body hair early on to avoid testing of his hair follicles because oxy has a short half life in blood but lives in your hair 90 days. I literally called this one at the beginning, and today he opened the door for Creighton Waters to cross him on WHY he shaved his entire body--because he did NOT want them taking samples. That SOB popped pills before going to detox so it would be in his blood but then as soon as he learned his hair would be pulled to be sampled shaved his entire body. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS crap.
He gives legitimate pain patients as well as junkies as bad name.
@@davebryant8050 exactly, the government has gotten involved in pain medication and people that truly have problems have to jump through hoops and are treated like a drug addict. People like this guy makes it look bad for them and caused the government involvement!
I totally agree. No way he took ALL those drugs and be a highly functioning lawyer. Remember his friends, family and office staff had ZERO idea he was a very heavy drug user for 12 years.

This Son of a bitch is a terrible liar. 😂😂😂
He chased his wife down on golfcart and shot her in back THAT is why she had tiremark on her leg!!
Exactly!
I want to know why Maggie didn't go to moms house with Alex. Maggie's sister stated that's why Maggie was at the house requested by Alex to begin with. She was dead already that's why!
I think Maggie went home to go with the family to see his dad the next day. He was in the hospital, and the prognosis was bad. He died shortly after the murders.
He thinks he can talk himself out of this mess he created…
Right, because he has done it all his life. He even admitted lying to his clients, his family his law firm. They all believed him in one way or another. However, the women that testified in his law firm called him a Tasmanian devil and the woman that confronted him about the money, said he was a Bull shitter. I think Maggie knew and was getting ready to leave him and because Paul was on his mother's side he wanted to get rid of all the conflict with the two of them. They saw through him and confronted him that night.
Your theory is very similar to mine. I figure he killed them because of the criminal boat case coming up and because Maggie was probably going to leave him. She was staying in Edisto most of the time and was fed up with his drug habit (among other things). So...he was tired of dealing with them and lured them home to murder them.
He distorts reality repeatedly. "You mean, on the night I was supposed to have "hurt" Mags and my son"?? Is this how he can stomach being in his own presence. Convincing himself he's on trial for merely "hurting" them.
I noticed that, too. He won't say "murdered" or "killed." He always says "hurt" or "harm." In his sick mind, he thinks he did them a favor to keep them both out of that criminal boat trial that was coming up in a few days. Paul would have gone to prison(I believe). He said he wanted to "clear Paul's name," and he did. The dead body can't stand trial and the charges go away. He is really a psychopath.
The reply should have been your on trial for murder, not hurting.
@@LisaPeterson227 I agree! I was hoping the prosecutor would say MURDER.
@@valeriegriner5644 that’s a huge red flag btw a guilty person establishes distance but an innocent person doesn’t because they don’t need to. If you were innocent you’d have no problem saying “I’d never murder / kill them”

Who would not remember what was said the last time you spoke to your loved one.. He is a narcissist that he being the lawyer on his own case, on the witness stand... Changing his story to fit the reasons the prosecution has against him.. Seems to remember facts of other witnesses quite well..I also noticed he does funny things with his mouth when he's stressed.. its an honest mistake. if he admitted to being at the kennels they wouldve found out about him killing his family. honest mistake.
I know, right! 😂🤣😂
Alec was caught in several lies. He lies lies lies but should be taken at face value now he is telling the truth. Get real
Lol great comment. 😂😂😂
Change of venue motion was so important to him because he undoubtedly had people in place to rig the trial in the venue he wanted it moved to…I have zero doubt!
Agreed!
As an experienced lawyer, his first attempt to find out who killed them was to make sure no one contaminated the horrible crime scene, not to call everyone he supposedly wanted to comfort him, his son and his loving, loving wife were viciously murdered. The guy is lying to the core and believes that he will once again outwit the judicial system as he is wont to do. He is quite an actor.
Loving wife?! I heard her on the phone when the maid died at her home. I’ve had more emotion over my dogs. I think she was like him or they wouldn’t have been together so long.

@@dianakidd4219 totally agree with you. The 4 were rotten. She treated Mallory Beach’s parents badly.
@Diana Kidd I agree with you, and both Alex and Maggie's parenting was definitely far from most parents' practices.

Aren’t we all.
He's incredibly good at deflection, distraction, feigning ignorance or misunderstanding to give him time to create an uninformative answer that appears to be responsive, and managing his body language so it fits what he wants others to perceive. He frequently makes himself the victim, even with his repeated protestations of how "sorry" he is that he "hurt" others. Given his astounding history of lying before and throughout this case and the ease with which he arrogantly continues to fabricate whatever he thinks will work for him at the moment, he comes across as a malignant narcissist and, perhaps, a sociopath who thinks he can successfully manipulate the situation.
Apparently he can too and has for years
Spot on!
He said he wasn’t at the kennels. Now he said he was! Guilty👋🏼
How is he allowed to just opemly talk without being asked a question? And they didn't accuse you of "hurting" maggie and paul, but MURDER.
The constant rambling on is working against the defendant in every way so it’s good to let him ramble.
droming on is exactly what the prosecutor wanted him to do to show how he obfuscates
When I watched this in real time, I couldn’t believe he was allowed to openly talk like that and I thought he was controlling the prosecutor. But now I realize this is exactly what the prosecutor wanted, give him enough rope to hang himself. It worked.
Mr. Waters was allowing him to talk to allow him to bury himself.
it's not a mystery to me why this is taking so long. Playing dumb, repetitive remarks and manipulation is time consuming
I hope they see thru his lies.
His DEFENSE ATTORNEYS would NEVER allow him to talk to prosecutors before trial. HES SUCH A BIG LIAR.
he's a professional liar but the Truth will out!
He slips and says, “Maggie asked me to leave.” When discussing his time at kennel.
I noticed that too. He said “when Maggie asked me to leave”…a command?
I want to know who she told that Alex was acting weird.
I heard it
@lrmt8 Yes.
Quit letting him talk so much. He's trying to control the trial.
He sounds like Paul Bernardo with his whining about what a victim he was.
Defendants have the right to testify in their own trials. It's very rarely a smart thing to do, but hey: If the guy wants to talk himself into a corner with the jury watching on, he should be allowed to rattle on till the cows come home! 😁
I said the same thing. However, they are doing it in hopes he will dig his own grave. He is saying things and they're hoping he'll slip and get confused.
@@Kari.F. looks like the cows are knocking on the front door.
HE TALKS TOO DAMN MUCH. Then he says he was begging to tell his story to the prosecution. Who the hell does that???
Dear God. He is a master deciever. There is no way you can believe anything he says. He is SO HARD trying to sound like a poor victim. And he STALLING on giving STRAIGHT ANSWERS.
He admittedly had continuity of telling lies and now he’s denying his lies on the dog kennel video
Have you never lied? Break 1 law makes you guilty of all the law.
@Sis crook He had no life insurance on either Maggie or Paul. Maggie had finally realized something didn't add up, so she was thinking about divorce (according to Blanca), and their Mozele home was in Maggie's name, not Alex', plus Paul would probably be found at least partly guilty for the intoxicated boat driving.
Alex spent tons of money on his drug addiction, plus he had also stolen and swindled so much money from his law firm, from Sadie's (the housekeeper's family), and was desperate to reduce his potential future expenses, and increase his available cash, that killing became his choice of method to achieve that.
In Alex' mind, money had become more necessary to him, than were the lives of Maggie, Paul, and even Buster (Buster has lost all 3 members of his immediate family.
I don't know whether Buster was or was not assisting Alex with the 2 murders, but even if he was (no charges have been brought against Buster), that is a evil and despicable thing to do to him, and Buster won't ever forget it.
I do believe Alex is 100% guilty of both these murders, but no matter what the verdict is, he will never again be a free man, due to all his financial crimes for which they will be filing charges at some point.
There were way too many lies that Alex told, and those lies will come back to haunt them.
NARCISSISTS ALWAYS REPEAT BACK WHAT PEOPLE ASK THEM ,, AND TALK IN CIRCLES " HE IS THE MOST WORST INHUMAN EVER " ;; JUST GREED, GREED AND LIES, LIES,, " MURDERER"
Funny how he always repeats the question ... no matter what you ask him, even "Do you have the time?" ..he will reply "If I have the time, is that is what you are asking me, Mr. Waters?"
Lol 😂. He repeated almost every question, so annoying.
His own victim, his son, is the reason he got convicted. That video was the clincher
Paul really was a “little detective”. Solved his own murder
As I watched Paul's tree video , I listened to him giggle to his friends while showing what a unrespected dope his father was in trying futilely to get the tree to stand up. He had Alex's number with regard to his pills and lies.
This man has stacked his lie on top of lie on top of lies. It is proven without a doubt that this man can not tell the truth about anything. If he says he didn't kill his family then we automatically know that he did. ALL the evidence says that he did no matter what he says.

It is truly disturbing that there are people who are and have been taken in by this crook. He's not even a good liar, but he knows the first rule of lying is to tell people what they want to hear. Con artists depend on the target's willingness to overlook inconsistencies as they pursue their own benefit, and in so doing become a party to their own victimization. The jury didn't have any stake in Murdaugh's pitch and saw him for what he is almost instantly.

Exactly he rambles and questions the questions as a delay and diffusion tactic. But if they start getting aggressive with him he'll, use that for sympathy too.
Debbie, I'm flabbergasted by it...Maybe the prosecutor is waiting for him to make a slip up as he goes on & on??? ......like his saying, "When Maggie asked me to leave" (the kennels)???
The more he talks, the more he hangs himself. Give a person enough rope, and they will do just that.
I just love it! You fools you let this SOB get on the stand and hang himself!!! He thinks he is smarter than everyone in the room as all narcissist do.
The prosecutor is confident that the more this guy talks, the better. Most criminal defendants would choose not to take the stand for this reason. If it's part of the defense strategy, it's jumping the shark. Possibly he's been advised against it, but has insisted.

Every time I watch this, when those perfectly-timed sirens go off, at 1:47, it strikes me as eerie foreshadowing. It happens throughout his testimony, always at key points. Interesting synchronicity.
Why is prosecution ALLOWING HIM TO YAP HIS MOUTH?
Because they want him to yap his mouth.....for inconsistencies in his story......
OMG, unbelievable that AM would sit there & say he never had the opportunity to tell law enforcement or anyone that he was at the kennels.
A BIG OVERLOOKED FACT: AM did not put Bubba in a cage after he took away the chicken, so if Maggie and Paul were murdered within minutes, Bubba should be free around the corpses when AM arrived on the scene. The alleged murderers would not bother to leash Bubba after a double murder.... and also, the dogs barked with an alarming, angry voice during the 911 call (recognizing AM not as their owner but as someone who hurt Maggie and Paul).
Alex called 911 via bluetooth,,,As echoing could be heard...Dogs dont no whos in a pickup truck with headlights on...He called when he arrived..He never got outa truck to check on as he says...Untill after the fact,,,But only to mabe clean up a bit more,,,,For curiosity wat kennal was bubba put in? This guy feels GREAT POWER when strangling people with LIES and POISON words; and is without care or conscience when stabbing them in the back as he steals their money.
The only thing he truly regrets is getting caught, otherwise he'd still be doing it.

If the prosecution doesn't highlight the important points in closing arguments they will end up with a hung jury. They need state the total amount of all of the thefts together and then point out that they were from; friends, family, partners, quadriplegics, widows, children, the deceased, banks and everyone who Alex claims to "love and respect".
They need to point out that he uttered "I always hurt the ones that I love". Then he walked that back with a stupid explanation.
They need to point out that these thefts started before his addiction and were used to buy homes, land deals and a life of luxury, not drugs when he started.
They need to point out that without Maggie's permission he couldn't borrow large amounts of money because she is on the titles of their property. They need to point out that she wasn't living at Moselle and her wedding ring was under the seat of her car. She had told other that she no longer trusted Alex. If she divorced him he would be wiped out.
They need to point out that the lawsuit for Paul's accident was for $20 million dollars in damages. With Maggie gone, he would own everything and with Paul gone the boat accident lawsuit went away. Remind them that he was losing his job, his law license and his credit with the banks. The only way to end up with assets was to get rid of Maggie and Paul.
He stated that he spent most of the time sitting on the golf cart at the kennels, which would make him close to the height of the defense's shooter theory.
They need to point out that Alex (finally) admitted that he was at the kennels when he testified and stated that there was no one else around (besides him) minutes prior to when law enforcement (and the evidence) says that the murders took place. He then drove by the spot where Maggie's phone was thrown on his way to his parent's, where he parked by the woods instead of the driveway. Then he lied to everyone for the last seven months.
Summation is; he had the weapons, the ammunition on site, the motive and he was the only one there, other than the two victims and nothing he says can be believed.
But the killer was also there
Interesting that Alex referred to himself as being charged with "hurting" his wife and son..... he was charged with the brutal MURDER of his wife and son (more than merely hurting them as Alex attempted to downplay the reality of his situation). #AlexMurdaugh #Murderer #NorthCarolina #GuiltyAF
What a ridiculous statement to make that NO ONE wanted to talk to him about murder evidence. Absurd response!
This clip should be played over and over for those young students of law. 2 great lawyers at it, one has the facts, the other has to lie to save his skin, best part of the trial
What's the temperature on the oddly placed thermostat today?
Lol! I noticed that too
Alex is pretty good on the stand. I've rarely seen someone that's done so many horrible things including killing his own family yet he still seems like a likeable guy. I can see how he got the trust of his clients and partners
it's a matter of perspective, I guess. He is not coming across as likeable in the slightest to me. But then I don't like lawyers.
He is coming across as arrogant. Love the sinner, hate the sin.
Sociopaths are many times likable people- that’s what makes them effective at their con. If he was just an abrasive turd, it would have been very difficult or near impossible for him to scam as many people as he has in his life. He is a master manipulator. Add in the fact that he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room and you have a really dangerous individual.
Have to agree that he uses words well (practiced this game over decades) but I still don’t believe anything he says. If you want to see him in a different light, look up the jailhouse talks. Hard to tolerate he’s so pushy and controlling even from lockup.
I've been on this earth a lot of years. He's a braggart and arrogant. In the work place or a social setting he'd set my teeth on edge and have me looking for where I set my drink down just to get away from him. He's the type who name drops, pretends he cares about your life and always leads a conversation back to how much he thinks of himself. He pretends to be humble but arrogance oozes from him. He's the type looking for a way to get u to trust right before he sticks a knife in your back.
At 12:10 he expects jury to believe that he has, all of the sudden, developed care and concern for others’ feelings or how anyone, other than himself, feels. 🙄
I was begging for a meeting so I could get all the information that was going to be used against me. He has been so use to controlling everything and everyone. Master Liar!!
Never seen a trial they let suspect talk so much instead of yes an no
Biggest problem is no one can tell when Alec Murdock is telling the truth
Where are all these so called tv reporters when Alex slipped and said she told him to leave when he was at the dog kennels then he changed it real quick the reporters didn't say anything about this
Waters is a badass!! Love him!
I think there is a possibility that he lied about being there in the evening so that the questions would stop earlier and law enforcement would put more focus on finding a nearby suspect. If he really was innocent, he would have a strong concern for who did it and want them found immediately. He had a loaded gun at the scene as well, which might indicate he was in "fight or flight" mode.
Did you hear him ask them to look? Did he warn his other son to find a safe place there is a killer on the loose. Why did they spare Alec's life? Why didn't they bring their own weapons? Why did he lie on the 911 call about not being there for 2 hours? Your theory is weak.
Hello from Boston!
I like this judge.
He is now so sorry… for giving this testimony
Murdaugh clearly did "bring it up" when he challenged the prosecutor's narrative of never telling anyone. He claimed that his team had reached out.
Always needs to hear question again..never could give a yes or no. Always his own dissertation...
What is difficult is he is a well trained lawyer onto of being a sociopathic lier.
For that being a small town, there sure are a lot of sirens.
The way waters repeatedly asked the same questions without letting him answer was aggravating, he wanted a simple yes or no answer to every single question. Imagine his wife trying to explain something
simply shocking. How much blood on one family's hands.
Don’t allow the Netflix documentary to convince you about things that haven’t been fully investigated. What we know is that his dad and grandfather were well respected. Even this wonderful judge gave good comments about his dad.
He’s flat out telling you he lied about killing these ppl. He said Now he was there at the kennels.
😱 what a tangled web we weave
HES BEEN BEGGING TO TELL THE TRUTH BUT THEY REFUSED TO SIT DOWN WITH HIM! IF NOT FOR HIM SELF, THEN FOR THE HOPES OF BRINGING CLOSURE TO THE PEOPLE HE HURT!!
Notice how Murdaugh almost never answers a question. He talks in circles in ways to be vague and noncommittal. What were they thinking to put him on the stand? So manipulative!
