Did you notice the trap he set? He said someone called his show and he asked this person what's a policy position he likes of Trumps. The caller mentions the wall. Pakman then asks "so if he doesn't get that done, you would still vote for him?". The caller says "yes I still would" and pakman says "see, it's not about policy". The problem with pakmans argument is that specific caller never said that's the ONLY reason he would vote for him. But Pakman framed him as an idiot. You could just as easily do the same trap with democrats.

When Pakman was calling out PBD for "anecdotes" it was because PBD was setting up the premise of a question with something that is based on anecdotes. "Why isn't the world scared if us anymore" - and Pakman's response is "how do you know that to be true".
Pakman said at the very beginning of this video that Trump was laughed at at the UN. So a little context to that, the Germans were laughing at him for saying Germany was going to be mainly dependent on Russian oil and how the US shouldn’t keep footing the bill to NATO, when Germany is totally dependent on Russia. This turned out to be completely true.

Well, that's how a debate works. If you object to an ASSERTION made by one side, you ask for evidence. DId Patrick provide any? No actually he immediately replied with 'there is no data' and then replied that he never said 'there is no data' because he thought his own response made him look bad. PBD has a long history of one sided discussion; he talks, we watch videos. It shows in how quickly he responds poorly, or how upset he clearly gets trying to make his points. He's a great resource for business advice, but a host/debater/political commentator he IS NOT. And it shows.

I will admit he has this wonderful ability to remain even keel while citing mostly anecdotes as evidence. However, as many studies have indicated, I realize that his audience leverages most of their decision making or assessment skills from their amygdala (as opposed to their ACC/PFC) so it clearly resonates with them. But just wanted to respectfully offer a different take. I've heard PBD be really patient and just listen to others on his podcast at times, and in this instance, I didn't feel like he did that. Seemed like he was looking for a "gotcha" moment. If his goal is to share ideas, then backing someone into a corner isn't the best way to do that, in the way that he did. I'm basically talking about how he said Pakman loses credibility b/c he doesn't remember every poll number or statistic. He also kept calling him an expert on polls which Pakman never said he was. Pakman was ready to discuss things based on looking up the stats or polls, but PBD wouldn't move off the fact that Pakman didn't know it off hand. And in my opinion that part of the discussion never moved forward. I would have like PBD to just look up the numbers and then discuss based on that. That would have been in better faith than the way he did it which is how he's usually done it with some other guests i've heard. Just my opinion. I'm not a leftist or Pakman follower.

There's a difference between making a broad claim (which is only actually known by data) and someone making a specified observation (which is what Pakman did). Pakman said "it is not uncommon that there is a sentiment on the Right that..." Very different then making broad generalizations like PBD when he says "liberals believe this..." or "people voted for Obama because he was Black." You all are certainly the anti-education party and it shows.

Asking questions that require data without warning the opponent the data is needed before, is a bad faith argument. They obviously have no chance to fairly represent the data. If you knew your points would address those topics, and you felt your points are strong you would tell your opponent before hand to prepare the data. Otherwise its just a weak gotcha...

Pakman was using all the deflection techniques, and then would call them ridiculous when used against him. He gives anecdotal examples, then says anecdotes are not good enough. He also wouldn't recognize the obvious - basically he was not there to debate truth - only to win an argument. Now, to his credit he went on the show and he also was polite - that is a lot better than most people.

The problem with pakmans argument is that specific caller never said that's the ONLY reason he would vote for him. But Pakman framed him as an idiot. So a little context to that, the Germans were laughing at him for saying Germany was going to be mainly dependent on Russian oil and how the US shouldn’t keep footing the bill to NATO, when Germany is totally dependent on Russia. What I cannot understand is why Obama continues to be a Rockstar in the Democratic party with most Democrats being interested in a Michelle ticket despite her not having interest in politics, but when it comes to Trump and his wife there is a absolute disdain for them (With the View trashing Barron Trump) this isn't right and that led me to leaving the party. Republican = gold standard Democratic = none.

I will admit he has this wonderful ability to remain even keel while citing mostly anecdotes as evidence. However, as many studies have indicated, I realize that his audience leverages most of their decision making or assessment skills from their amygdala (as opposed to their ACC/PFC) so it clearly resonates with them. David is just data-driven which is never going to resonate with conservatives.

But just wanted to respectfully offer a different take. I've heard PBD be really patient and just listen to others on his podcast at times, and in this instance, I didn't feel like he did that. Seemed like he was looking for a "gotcha" moment. If his goal is to share ideas, then backing someone into a corner isn't the best way to do that, in the way that he did. I'm basically talking about how he said Pakman loses credibility b/c he doesn't remember every poll number or statistic. He also kept calling him an expert on polls which Pakman never said he was. Pakman was ready to discuss things based on looking up the stats or polls, but PBD wouldn't move off the fact that Pakman didn't know it off hand. And in my opinion that part of the discussion never moved forward. I would have like PBD to just look up the numbers and then discuss based on that. That would have been in better faith than the way he did it which is how he's usually done it with some other guests i've heard. Just my opinion. I'm not a leftist or Pakman follower.
What corner is that? Pakman just said what he believes and brought data to support it as much as possible. PBD just brought anecdotes, analogies, and bounced between unsubstantiated talking points. I don't see anyone being in any corner throughout this video.

It's clear you all are either too slow or are intentionally misrepresenting him. Pakman made a very specific and contextualized statement. There's a difference between making a broad claim (which is only actually known by data) and someone making a specified observation (which is what Pakman did). Pakman said "it is not uncommon that there is a sentiment on the Right that..." Very different then making broad generalizations like PBD when he says "liberals believe this..." or "people voted for Obama because he was Black." You all are certainly the anti-education party and it shows.

No one keeps all their promises. Trump has negative angles to his leadership sure, but all leaders do and Biden has as many or more than Trump and laying that out would be very easy.

Asking questions that require data without warning the opponent the data is needed before, is a bad faith argument. They obviously have no chance to fairly represent the data. If you knew your points would address those topics, and you felt your points are strong you would tell your opponent before hand to prepare the data. Otherwise its just a weak gotcha...

Pakman was using all the deflection techniques, and then would call them ridiculous when used against him. He gives anecdotal examples, then says anecdotes are not good enough. He also wouldn't recognize the obvious - basically he was not there to debate truth - only to win an argument. Now, to his credit he went on the show and he also was polite - that is a lot better than most people.
