Writing is a defense against all the “noise” of things & people trying to grab my mind and attention. I simply feel less eroded. Indeed, writing is magical and a way of creating my own reality.

I like discovering the characters and their relationships with each other. It is like magic as you say. Characters start speaking differently to how you expected and it changes who they are in the story and their relationships and develops the story.

I know this is random but I have to tell you about this dream I had last night. In the dream my husband and I were about to watch a movie and I saw your name in the opening credits, so I had him rewind it back so I could see it again and it was a movie based off one of your books. I was so excited!

O.M.G. I just got CHILLSSSS. Last night I was writing in my journal and was thinking about how badly I would love to have a movie or TV series based on my Shadow Demons Saga. I asked the Universe to send me a sign that it would happen someday. Maybe your dream is my sign?? Is that crazy??!! I'll take it! Thank you for sharing this!!!

The state of Flow is what I first fell in love with as an 8-year-old. I was doing my homework at my mum's work and everything disappeared and I was living within the story while my inner voice was speaking what I experienced and my hand was writing down the words. There was an experience of time. I experienced a week of storytime. But when I came out of it. after an hour and a half of time, with a finished story of many pages I was very disorientated. I was also breathing very fast with my heart racing because it was a dramatic ending. I couldn't bring myself to read what I had written until the next day, but I was amazed that my handwriting was reasonably neat. The next day when I read it, I realised that the story had made it onto the page and that it was good. That state of flow was magical!

My two favorite things about writing are first, falling into the rabbit hole. Like when I am writing and a movie starts playing in my head and I'm just trying to type as fast as I can to get it all down. And two, I never get over the wonder of creating people and places and events that didn't exist for anyone else until I plucked them out of my brain and put them on paper. That's magical to me. Loved this video and needed the reminder.

💫✨ “Stationery” ✨💫 - that music cracked me up! Thanks for this Sarra, loved this video. My main favorite thing about writing is what it does for my anxiety - I feel most confident and least anxious when writing. And if I do it daily, that feeling bleeds into my “real” life, which helps manage the anxiety.

Office supplies! When I was a kid I used to go to work with my mom. I played with her office supplies all day, pounded on the stapler, taped everything, spun in her chair. I love it all. I also love the high I have for the rest of the day after a great writing session. Love your videos!

I love writing, the process itself, but the one thing that always amazes me is looking back at what I’ve written and wondering where it came from. Not in a bad way, but in a I had no idea that was somewhere inside of me. Almost like drawing on something hidden or outside myself. It’s amazing. By the way, I think I fall into the pantser group. At least through the majority of the first draft. Maybe a note here and there but I just need to spit it out before I start making sense of it all.

Since I had gotten sick (three years in June), I've been too afraid to go back to work as a court reporter. I don't have the stamina or endurance. With the stories in my head, I am hoping to make money that way; so I can also support my husband as he's supported me through my down time. Thanks for the inspiration.

Writing is also the most efficient form of creativity. In a single sentence you can transmit an image that would take dozen of hours to a painter, or weeks and months to a film-maker. You can be completely free without any restrictions on budget.

I love stationery!!! Just like you, when I grew up my mom didn't have a lot of money and we could only afford the school stationery (just the basic needs). And when I grew up, well...Let's just say that right now I can't walk into a store and look at pens or notebooks because my husband is so lovely and just buys me whatever I put my eyes on...even if we shouldn't buy them because we're on a tight budget!!! But this is one of the things I love most in my life, I do have lots of colored pens and notebooks and blank sheets all around my kitchen table (which is kind of an office for me, I don't really have a dedicated room at the moment). I also bought a couple of Erin Condren Life Planner which I love so much, but I think that I have to give up on them 'cause they're really expensive with all the shipping and custom taxes (it's almost 30 dollars more than the Planner's cost, and even if I would only buy one planner a year - with no stickers or accessories, it's always just a little too much. Anyway, we'll see how things go when Erin Condren will release the new 2021 planners!) I would love to try the Happy Planner, but in that case, the shipping cost is a lot higher than with Erin Condren, which means that it would be impossible for me to buy it. Ok, enough babbling about money issues!!! I love stationery and I love the fact that we can always learn new things, new techniques and new strategies along the way!

Writing is magic - preach it, dear lady! I don't have a community, not even sure how to get involved in such a thing, but I do tend to check you out if that counts. I do have a book published "Morning Musings," but I'm working on my first novel, all of this at times maddeningly frustrating and at other times unworldly in its magic. Keep doing what you do and bless you and your family.

Love your honesty and hearing about your writing journey! I'm with you in that writing is very therapeutic and healing. I'm a self-proclaimed Creative Nonfiction writer, so everything I write is based on things I've experienced. In doing this, I'm able to process and share what I've been through in hopes of encouraging and supporting others who might be going through something similar.

I can relate to so much of this video! You are my new favorite youtuber...I am obsessed with stationery, writing and Harry Potter! Your videos make me feel better, unlike a lot of writing videos where they talk in a condescending way about how you need to write. Sara, have you considered creating a writing group website? I've tried a few and enjoyed the community & support they offered to novice writers but there were issues w favoritism that many writers had to leave. Anywho, that would be awesome with your heart & experience for the business.

Hi Sarra, I'm relatively new to your channel and had to post a comment about how much I'm enjoying all of your videos - old and new.
I'm probably one of your 'older' viewers but I've noticed that, even though you refer a lot to YA, the topics you cover are relevant to all age ranges and across all genres, which I find very helpful.
I'd also like to add that I love the tattoo and the reasoning and story behind it. Very unique😊
Finally, although I'm still working my way through your video archives I was wondering if you would be able to cover the topic of Trilogies or Series creation, if you haven't covered it already. I have had an idea for a trilogy stewing away in my brain for many months now. I know how it begins and how it ends in the final book; I know approximately seven of the characters and their roles and purposes within the story-line and other characters sitting in the background waiting; I know the protagonist and antagonist and the overall story arc; I know a couple of sub-plots and events that happen throughout the trilogy but, it's all still rattling around inside my head and yet to make it onto the screen. How would you go about this? How would you take all that information, knowing that it spans three books, and get that down on the page? I'm not really a plotter, I prefer to see where the characters take me which is probably not the best way to go about this venture. Any advice, hints, tips or help would be great. 😁
Keep up the good work 👍

You put my feelings into words. 100% yes to all l of it. And OF COURSE stationery, LOL!... ;-)
I am 80% plotter, leaving enough room for spontaneous inspiration, but usually I know pretty well where I am hgoing with my story and why. But sometimes inspiration strikes, the characters take over, and it literally writes itself. It's rare, it's magic, and I absolutely love it. ^_^

@@HeartBreathings it took me a while to get it. I had to modify it to help me with outlining. I tend to be a panser so it probably works because I still have a little bit of structure but not too much. I was just curious. I would deffinatly love to see anything organizational because it really helps a person like me that's never organized in life until now of course. Lol
