    💡Video Key Takeaways
    1. Although we cannot prevent lupus today, there is ongoing research into uncovering strategies that would lead to earlier diagnosis and prevention in the years to come.
    2. Prevention in medicine involves identifying problems, developing reliable diagnostic methods, pinpointing at-risk individuals, and finding interventions.
    3. Lupus is a complex autoimmune disease that can affect various organs and systems in the body, characterized by an overactive immune system.
    4. Identifying at-risk individuals involves factors like genetics, family history, hormonal imbalances, viral infections, and UV light exposure.
    5. While there's still progress to be made, adopting a healthy lifestyle including diet, exercise, stress management, and sleep can support overall immune health and potentially reduce the risk of developing lupus or other autoimmune conditions.

The research currently being conducted is really exciting! Although those of us diagnosed currently might not benefit from it, it really makes me happy future warriors might not have to jump through the hoops we did to find treatment. Dr. Ortiz, thank you for continuing to provide our community valuable information.

what is stage 1 and stage 2 lupus, never heard of it and I've been diagnosed 15 years.
One of the signs for GPs is that the patient has many appointments for a wide variety of sometimes weird symptoms. In this situation think lupus.
Patients please ask for your numbers. A positive ANA is almost meaningless. ANA titre is 1 :40, 1:80, 1:160, 1:320, 1:640, 1:1280, the higher the number the more positive your ANA.

What if you have had most of the symptoms all your life, you've cleaned up your diet (avoiding everything that triggers inflammation for you personally, avoiding processed foods etc, your sleep schedule is in check, you're going to your primary care doc every 6 months but symptoms don't show up all at once at the clinic AND you're not making enough antibodies to test positive? Does that mean there's no way you can have lupus? Or possibly that you're effectively keeping it from worsening?

What if you don’t have a positive ANA but have all the other symptoms. I’ve been diagnosed with AS but I’m still worried I have Lupus too.
