Ready for a strange ride? #DCUDoomPatrol series premiere on February 15 with new episodes every Friday, only on #DCUNIVERSE.
DOOM PATROL reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (BRENDAN FRASER), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (MATT BOMER), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (APRIL BOWLBY) and Crazy Jane (DIANE GUERRERO), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (TIMOTHY DALTON). Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found their purpose through The Chief, coming together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence. Following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief these reluctant heroes will find themselves in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg (JOIVAN WADE), who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

There isnt many actors that i like or liked i can name some (not gonna cuz lazy even tho i wrote this part) but theres been one actor that i always when what ever happened to him? I really liked him in his movies i type in google the mummy and saw the actors name then i looked to see what was up with him and all i got was article after article talking bout what hes going through and alot of negative stuff and it hurt because i really think this man is in my top 5 favorite actors then this trailer shows up and i watch it and i recognized him almost instantly i kept watching and just see him show how he can act very good and i was very happy to see him i even teared up because every now and then id think of him he was part of my childhood and i thought he was a failed actor and i know its very hard to bounce back especially now i hope to see more of this brendan i missed him (:

Don’t people sometimes just take a step back from their craft? Alot of actors are like that. The comparison is ridiculous of course but Daniel Day Lewis has been semi retired since 1997 I believe and comes out of retirement for only the best roles of his choosing from what I understand. Sometimes you got to take a step back to move ahead

A failed marriage that did a number on his career and his wallet (He had to pay like 50,000 USD a month or something to his ex for years, starting on 2009). He was even jobless in 2015-2016 if I recall correctly. Poor guy. Good on DC Universe for giving him a chance. I have been fan of him since the Mummy movies.

If there's one thing that Tom Cruise did with the 2017 Mummy film, its that it reminded us all why we love and adore Brendan Fraser. The guy just has so much heart and soul. He deserves this comeback.
Fun fact, Doom Patrol actually came out only a short time before Marvel released the X-Men way back in the sixties.
Still it came first.

+Dict Saurus, to be fair DC and Marvel have been 'copying' one another for years. That's how we got Thanos, even his creators admit he was a rip-off of Darkseid. .
Dict Saurus And Challengers of the Unknown came out before Fantastic 4 . . . though Jack Kirby did create that team.
So basically it goes: Challengers > F4 > Doom Patrol > X-Men > Harbinger (might as well reference that Valiant Comic)

@@Joshcoshbagosh Different people complaining about different CGI, and some of them are valid. It wasn't great considering how Marvel handles its CGI. And it's hard not to compare the two. DC's action CGI shots are immensely better, but their character CGI needs work.

@@BigK13372 I think he is inspired by Frankenstein's monster. A human brain trapped in a monstrous body given life by electricity after his original body died and who is shunned by society for his strange appearance.
Mike Munoz Dude, a lot of his character and personality is directly similar to that of the Thing. Y’know being an orange monstrosity who used to be human before a fatal accident who is basically the designated big strong guy on a tram and a lot of their respective story involves them angsting about not being human. Doesn’t help that both characters wear basically an underwear for missions.
Besides, Cyborg is the character that is more heavily inspired from Frankenstein; from his name (Victor Stone) and right done to the whole hatred towards his creator (ie his parents).

At those first two replies, because mental health stigma is deconstructed the more we talk about it. Whether it’s clinically or through fiction. It’s nice to have something be relatable in the content we consume, especially when millions of people live with mental illness or the aftermath of personal trauma. Besides, the show isn’t entirely about that. It’s only adding depth and nuance to the storytelling. So I ask, what’s wrong with that?

Symon Oliveira yup. It’s pretty clear that they are. Team of outcasts rejected by the rest of society who are lead by a man in a wheelchair and who fight a certain brotherhood of evil. But there are certain people who believe that the Doom Patrol is actually a rip-off from the Fantastic 4. Robot-Man, who use to be orange in the comics, resembles a certain orange and rocky being known as The Thing who also missed his human days. Negative Man, like the Human Torch, can fly at incredible speeds and throw bolts of power from his hands and they are both covered in something strange, Negative Man being completely black with a golden aura when in his negative form and the Human Torch covered with Fire. Mr. Fantastic and Elasti-Girl both have the ability to stretch. Now Chief and Invisible Woman don’t have many similarities but you can see the ones in the rest of the team.

You know, I think I prefer this format (this and Netflix) compared to high-budget films. We get to spend more time with the characters. More stories, more time to develop them. 12 eps = 12 issues in comics. Thats a years worth of comics. Im kinda tired of the movies any way... Waiting, months or even years for the next one. Small screen is better, if they put money into it... and good, faithful stories.
More like 12 seasons, they tend to stretch the story in this format.
i think certain stories can only work in the 6-13 episodic format in live-action. it helps with structure, consistency and development. other stories, however, should belong solely in film. i think if the DCEU gave us some tv shows like the MCU is doing now we could get so much more. imagine a 6 episode cyborg show and a suicide squad show too. that way they can tide us over from film to film.

Had zero hope for this show...DC been pumping out subpar but kind of entertaining content and I’d never heard of doom patrol. But this is easily the best thing DC has done in forever! It surpasses most Marvel shows as well for me

Both look really different from one another and that’s how I like it. I’m glad DC Universe is giving us shows with different tones and atmospheres. That to me is better than DC/CW, whose shows all feel pretty much the same to me except Black Lightning. That show is amazing.
DC tv shows are better than movies because they got more time to develop the stroy and characters. They just need to know how to write a good movie script.

True. They have amazing materials and just need to adapt them well. Only one episode of Doom Patrol right now but it's still looking better than most of the modern DC movies, though Wonder Woman and Aquaman felt like small steps in the right direction too.

DC has control of their TV shows, Warner brothers have control of the DC movies.
I don't think thats just it. Maybe a third. See the main thing is- they're not afraid of sticking to the comics with tv shows, they're okay to catter only fans on tv, and they're less afraid to bomb. The whole issue with the movies is that they want the movies to be popular with everyone, so badly, they're blinded to what makes each ip worthy, and divided between batmans sucess (dark and moody) and marvels their tone is all over the place. That mainly comes from the tone not deriving from the source- batman works so well because the material is dark and moody. If they tried to extrapolate the soul of each ip tonaly, properly things would be much better.
The sad part is that they most likely know that. The problem is that being more faithful means some movies will fare better (some great) and others don't, maybe not at all; That plus the fact that to each its tone makes for hard (and worse) shared universes and there you have it. The execs want a shared universe as popular as marvels, and the surefire way to make the movies work (being faithful) isn't enougth. They don't care about the ips, only their potential to get that big, they don't want to try or shoot for anything else.

Christian Khoury They took a couple of inspirations from the Fantastic Four, but X-Men copied their idea of their leader being on a wheelchair. And I think the Doom Patrol show executes these characters in a better way than X-Men did, even tho the X-Men films were still good.

It's weird but I actually think this more traditional trailer works better then the more comedic ones. I already knew the show was going to be insane, what I didn't know was if the show was going to have anykind of emotional heart to it.
How wouldn't it have heart? Cliff is a man turned robot after his body was destroyed larry was a famous plane driver rita was a model and jane was a kid with 64 personalities of course it would have emotion.
@@conboy66 Your right, my worry was that they were going to gloss over the tragedy part. I felt like the trailers focused a little to much on how whacky these characters are. I'm a huge fan of comic book nonsense but a show that's nothing but surreal superhero strangeness isn't going to hold my attention for a season.
