Note on long-range flying: In most countries, UAV pilots are required to maintain line-of-sight with their drone, which requires to use of spotters for FPV pilots who use goggles. Geprc will add a gps if you buy one and ask to install it in the order notes. It's cheap. They even add a mount for free. I use the upgrade energy red 9000mah 6s li-ion pacl. 30 minutes flights with heavy throttle use. I've gone 10km with the stock vtx
That's really great to know, thanks for sharing your experience. Wow 9000mah, that's a huge pack. Another reason I buy 2x 1p packs is because I live in South America and fly a lot, can't take those massive packs on airplanes, at least not without special permission. What antennas are you using to get 10km on the stock vtx? I go 2-2.5km, maxed at about 3km, but with older mid range gear.
@colibrifpv vas black cannon helical and truerc x2. I've gone 30km with this set up on a wing (caipirinha 2)using tbs unify pro32 hv. I could have gone further, but it was at 55% battery. You can use a vas crosshair extreme to get 10km. It's easier to aim the antenna. With my helical/pepperbox set, I mount them horizontally with the helical on top no tilt. I can use the rapidfire/fusion osd(fusion has been better) to keep antenna alignment. Passed 8km it's important to keep your head still. Standing on 3 to 4m hill at 200-350m altitude, I just keep my head pointed straight to slightly tilted up once I'm at 20km.
That battery mount solution you provided solved my 5 month problem with my GEPRC Mark 4 7inch frame too. Very helpful. Can you provie the link for it please so I can get one too? Thank you
That's great to hear, there isn't as much space on the top plate as I would like on a 7" but this mount does the trick! Here it is 👉 www.thingiverse.com/thing:4631232
That looks like a really awesome budget drone. Weh you say up 20 min on the two 3000mah Liion, is that with gopro? What is the total distance traveled you get? Is the moz7 more efficient ?
Hey, the 20 minutes on a 6,000mah li-ion is the max you can expect, with throttle discipline and running them down low. 18 minutes is more realistic for "normal" flying". Yes, those time are without a GoPro, take off about 2-3 minutes with a GoPro. In that test flight I did I went 2.8km out and travelled a total of 20km+. No, the Moz7 is not more efficient because it's heavier, though it can carry heavier batteries because the motors are bigger, i.e., 8,000mah for around 25 minutes. Thanks for watching!
@@colibrifpv thanks for sharing. I wanted to compare. With those 3000mah 6s2p I get about the same flight time also without gopro. My personal record right now is 30 min flight time and 30 km traveled. 8s2p 21700 p45b cells on an 8 inch without gopro. Tried a 10 inch but the efficiency is pretty bad in comparison. Self built.
@@chrisbee5481 Oh wow, 30 minutes and 30km is awesome! 21700 cells are the way to go with these larger quads, your setup sounds very cool! I would suspect that these 2807 motors (2806.5 on mine) are not the most efficient motors available either just because they are the eco models but I definitely could have squeezed an extra few minutes out of that pack if I really pushed it but they are expensive so I try to take care of them. I've never built my own li-ion packs but I really want to start, much better value for money that way.
Flew 4 packs with mine then upgraded to the 03 air unit and gps, im a fan of geprc but this thing has given me grief from day 1 with the camera quality, fc and esc. Its good now but theres not much left of the original set up. Just unlucky this time i guess.
That's too bad, thanks for sharing your experience. I also have a very high opinion of GEPRC BNF quads, the ones I've owned have always come with a fantastic tune unlike other brands. Although with this budget Mark4, I think they cut corners in order to mass produce these things at a lower cost. Hopefully it doesn't impact their reputation for quality...
Hey Mark, I didn't get props in view at all using a GoPro 11 in wide setting in 16:9 or in 4:3. Also, I use Reel Steady or GyroFlow, which does crop in a bit during stabilization, but I didn't notice props in view even before stabilization. I don't think you'll have any problems seeing props in your GoPro footage with this quad.
Here is the rear GPS mount I used... www.thingiverse.com/thing:5425766 Here is a basic top mount, which looks like the one GEPRC sells for this frame. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4056305 It says it's for the HD version but I don't think it matters when it comes to that rear mount. For the GoPro mounts, there are loads to choose from, but make sure to choose one that is for the regular (non-hd) version of the frame, because the spacing of the front standoffs, which is where the GPS mont would be screwed in, are different...
Thats a lot of drone that one isnt allowed to fly legally..eye of sight.. remember...to anyone interested in drones, dont buy one untill they change the law...thsts my recommandation..unless you live in the middle of buttf.nowhere...karens have managed to destroy the fine hobby...one needs to follow many aviation rules , exames, insurance, ...to legally fly those things, and even then you cant fly them where you want...
Hi Timothy, yes you are right that there are a lot of drone regulations that we need to contend with nowadays but you can still have a great time enjoying the hobby while obeying the rules. I don't really fly long-range expect for testing (and when I do I don't fly over 120m or 400 feet in altitude and I have two friends with me at strategic locations who can spot the drone for me :) When I fly for fun I'm always within line of sight just because there is no need to go out that far...
This is the worst company that I have ever dealt with! I currently have two quads purchased from them, and the first was ordered over a month ago and just now arrived in the US as LAX. The second was purchased a week and a half ago and still has to ship. Diatone and Iflight are way faster to ship once a quad is purchased.
Don’t worry mate you will get it . I ordered mine and get it in 4working days with express shipping from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 to Ireland 🇮🇪 the support is good as well sent them couple of emails about the settings and they answered me like half an hour.
I have also had very good experiences ordering from GepRC... about 5 orders, but each time everything was good and arrived in 2-3 weeks to the US with free shipping.
I got okay range with the VTX but it did have a tendency to get stuck in 25mw even though I set it to max power until I disabled "low power disarm" in the VTX tab in beta flight. Now I'm running a Maten 2.5w, which outputs that 2.5W much more reliably, but I'll go digital soon anyway. What's wrong with the FC? Mine has been fine, but it is a $30 FC so I guess you could have gotten a lemon 🤔
@@colibrifpv On FC. Mine one draw exessive curent, overheats, not always boot properly, etc. So it was dissmissed. But 2.5w Geprc RAD (with heatsink, 1.6w one had no heatsink) is working fine, being controlled via IRC Tramp, and "low power on disarm" function show no glitches. The only trick was to write down table myself.

Why dji drone's flight time is so much longer? You can get about 35 minutes on a mini 4 pro with plus battery.
