The anthem of a country is part of the national emblems. They are composed in order to exalt citizens to defend the Homeland. Possibly the most famous of all the hymns is La Marseillaise, the French anthem. It should have been called "La Estrasburguesa." The best known version has an orchestration by the famous French composer Héctor Berlioz.
