I have the marantz PM6005 and the left speaker doesn't go loud at all compared to the right one. Is this soldering problem or the balance derelegated?
Hu you advised before "I've had this amplifier for 7 years. it always worked fine but now i have a problem. I don't get much sound from the left speaker compared to the right. Is the repair easy to do yourself? Headphones is ok."
Response below
Hi the head phones are connected via the head phones relay to the output channels of the Amplifier, so if your Amplifier is working correctly on head phones both when you select direct mode and non-direct made, the issue may be with the speaker protection relay.
Do you have the same issue if you connect to speaker set B?
@@AudioAmplifierServicing finally, same problem whit headphone.
I have almost no sound in the left side.
Yes, Same problem on speaker set B and same problem on direct mode. To test by ear, the left speaker has twice as much sound as the right one.
@@DIRECTSOUNDVINYL Hi you need to check the audio entering and exiting the volume potentiometer.
Hi,I’ve got this model, now it turns of completely after around 3 seconds of turning on,relay clicks on then off,no lights or anything, your advice would be grateful
Hi review this tutorial and check the DC voltages ruclips.net/video/SMT_ARIB3Tk/видео.htmlsi=5b7SwSUsvT6C6YAx
I just bought a black PM5004 2nd hand and discovered the volume knob is not exactly black, but a very dark bronz-ish colour. The select knob is black. Do you know if this is intended? Can I just pull the big knob off the D shaped axis? Do you know a seller of replacement knobs? Thanks for the video and for answering this question.
Hi the knob should be black the anodised coating has worn away, not sure which country your located.
If its the UK then Sontec is the company to order Marantz spare from www.sontec.co.uk/
@@AudioAmplifierServicingThank you! I am in The Netherlands. Is it easy to pull the knob off or is it glued?
@PalmBobo Hi just pull the knob off.
@PalmBobo Hi check this link for authorised spares provider www.marantz.com/nl-nl/
Hi, I have a somewhat related problem. My PM5004 randomly goes into standby. Now it does that about once a day, but the frequency seems to increase. Any idea where to look for the cause? Is this a common problem with this model? Thank you.
Hi It sounds like your Amplifier may be switching to protection mode.
It can be due to one of the voltage regulators breaking down.
See this video ruclips.net/video/SMT_ARIB3Tk/видео.htmlsi=CBL4JTKdnrvRokw4
@@AudioAmplifierServicing Hi Thanks for replying. When it turns itself off, the power LED is not blinking but solid (=standby mode). I thought it is supposed to blink in protection mode. Does your advice in the other video still apply when the power LED it is not blinking?
@@PalmBobo Hi the power LED would flash if the unit is switching to protection mode.
Check if the unit has accidently been switched to Auto standby mode manuals.marantz.com/pm5005/NA/EN/DNTXSYomckupba.php
@@AudioAmplifierServicing I held the SourceDirect button for 5 seconds aan de powerled flashed once, which means auto standby is now off, which means it WAS previously on. But I doubt this was the problem, because a) it turns itself off even after hours of music playing (not the 30 minutes of inactivity the manual mentions and b) it turns itself off while playing, so it is not "inactive" at all. But I'll see what it will be doing the coming days. Thanks for thinking with me!
@@PalmBobo let me know how you get on.
Would you be somkind as tomshare the schematics? Thanks in advance.
Hi email audioamplifierservicing@aol.com
@@AudioAmplifierServicing thanks for the reply, but I found it. It turns out it's a available freely.
Hi there, my pm6004 has no sound on right channel. Any advice on where to start diagnosis?
Hi a common issue is the failure of the volume control potentiometer.
So first check if you have Audio entering and exiting the Volume control circuit board for the faulty channel.
@@AudioAmplifierServicing Thank you! Would cleaning it help?
@user-lf8dq2bf6r No the carbon track of the potentiometer fails.
@@AudioAmplifierServicing damn! Any idea where to source parts?
@user-lf8dq2bf6r From here fixpart.co.uk/product/sound-united-00d9430197305-potentiometer-focus-volume-amplifier but you need to confirm the potentiometer is faulty.
