Mike, just wanted to say thank you for this series. I am working through this with you and your explanation skills are making it so much easier than what it would be without. Thank you for all the work you put into this!

We are honored to help, and equally honored to receive this comment from you, thank you!
😁👍🧰
Thank you for not saying, “go ahead “, every 5 seconds whenever taking a next step in the process. Very refreshing!
Thanks for watching, you are very welcome. We enjoyed filming this series. How’s your project going?
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I decided not to pull the trigger on purchasing a major project boat project due to transom rot concerns. After watching this however, an outdrive needing attention won't be a major issue for buying a used boat. Cheers

Thanks for the follow up, we support that decision. Let us know if we can help answer any questions in the meantime. 👍🧰
Another fantastic video. Thank you, Michael, for all your hard work.
Thank you, comments like yours continue to motivate us to keep filming our next set of videos.
Many more to come! 😎👍
God bless you for these videos. For us with alpha one gen 1 these are amazing videos
We are very honored to read this, thank you. We put a lot of effort into this series, getting the DIY community the info they need without wasting their valuable time was our goal. 😁👍🧰
Nicely done sir 👍😁
Amazing Video! Such a great explanation!
Thank you! 😁👍
exeptional job i have to say ...but for me i consider the new shifter bushing design has non sense because it dosent need seals and is obstructing the exhaust and in the shifter cable boot i recomend not to put the little clamp because it doesnt need that instead it can provoke a damage to the boot ...pro mech opinion ...exelent video thanks body

Hello, my name is Patrick. I’ve been watching your channel. I have a question. I have a 2007 Bayliner and it’s a project boat. I really do not know how to put the engine back together and where to buy parts for the engine is there anyway you can help me?
Thanks for watching, no better way to learn than having a project boat. That’s awesome and we can hopefully help.
You can let us know what parts you need and we can help you track down the best options. 😁👍🧰
Good evening I have a question. I have a 87 boat and I’ll put a V6 mercury MerCruiser in it, but I’m having problems with the transom because one transom has a hydraulic power. Stern in the old transom does not have a place to attach the hydraulic power, stern on the inner plate of the transit, can you give me any advice?
@@Tillerycuriousgardening
Good morning ☕️ any update? Are you referring to the hydraulic trim system and where the trim wires are secured to outdrive by the plate and bolts?
Michael, I have a question about the bellows retainer clip, should it be on top or bottom of the bellows? I am talking about the stainless clip that you have to pinch on to the bellows.
Thank you, Gary
Thanks for watching. Are you referring to the aluminum bellow bonding clips that clip onto bellow that the clamp wraps around and locks in place?
If so, our service manual guides us to have the bonding clips positioned as shown.
Some manuals will guide you to position them slightly offset from 12 & 6.
If purchasing quicksilver OEM replacement bellow kit, the position of the clips when opening the packaging and removing bellows will be the position to have them at.
We have seen aftermarket bellows have the clips positioned in the wrong spots…which can lead to offset crimping pressure on the bellows and lead to premature failure.
Yes, mike the aluminum clips on the gimble bellow and the clips on the exhaust bellow, am I right the clips on the gimble bellow are at the 12 o'clock, position, and the exhaust bellow clips should be at the 6 o'clock position? Thanks for getting back to me,, love your videos.

You can use the same diy to install the gimbal bearing no need to spend 100 on the tool

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and advice, always welcome here on our channel. 👍🧰
Hi mate, just wondering what the purpose of the binding clip is because I have mistakenly put the bellow on without it 😬
Good morning ☕️
This clip is part of the anode system and helps protect your clamps that secure bellow in-place from getting corroded and failing.
Long story short, if not installed…the clamp will corrode, begin to loosen, and fail over time…unfortunately weakening the grip on the bellow and watertight seal.
Please let us know if you have any questions. 🧰
Would you use the new style exhaust bellow rather than the old style
Just realized this one is hot off the press, awaiting part 6 to see what I did wrong 😅
Hot off the press indeed and thanks for watching our PART 5. Part 6 coming soon. September 11. 😎👍

Well I see you don't have the snap retainer ring issue I'm having...cause that one is the easy one..make a video with doing that retainer ring installation please thank you.
@@Thomas-pr1dz
Good morning ☕️ thank you kindly for reaching out to us. The snap ring is a more reliable design however can be annoying while servicing. We may add that to the list.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I got up early this morning trying it even have the tool it keeps pushing off..I think I'm gonna take it to the marina let them snap it on everything else I can do putting it back together..that's all I like..💯lol

We appreciate the reply, we hear you. If you go that route, hopefully the marina will install it quick and for a friendly price. 😁👍

We believe you’re referencing the outdrive gasket set which includes the water tube o-ring and more.
