- Have you ever wondered which mamba makes the best pet? Well I'll tell you anyway, it's the eastern green mamba (Dendroaspis angusticeps). It's also probably the most beautiful mamba. But does being the best pet mamba mean that it is a good pet? Is the eastern green mamba the best pet snake for you?

Lucky there isn't a chuckwalla nearby 😂
Lol
We were so concerned for their safety. We had someone watching out for chuckwallas the entire time. You can't be too careful!
Sneaky little lizards
Yeah chuckwallas have been known to hunt mambas and deinonychus
Little known fact: The Cretaceous’ mass extinction event was caused by a chuckwalla, who entered the first Ultimate Reptile Rumble held 66 million years ago.
The chuckwalla puffed up, and an asteroid came down to wipe out all the other rivals. The birds forgot they were also reptiles, so they did not enter the competition and were spared from the chuckwalla’s ultimate attack. A few of the lizards, turtles, crocodilians, etc. were also spared, because they were “too big” to qualify for the tournament in the first place.
We need to discover one more, so we can have Mamba No. 5.
It might be the best one! amzn.to/3XNqIyz
Pity that “garden snakes” don’t exist in real life, as if they did, they could fill that fifth spot.
They look remarkably like these, though… a little smaller - and have *eyelids and externally visible ears.*
The chief difference is they simply have a much calmer disposition - and *human-level intelligence.*
They’re highly venomous - more so than these, very much more - *but they simply will NOT bite you unless you actively try to hurt them.*
We do say there’s a brown mamba in Southern Africa.. but in reality they are the black mamba
lmaoo get outta here bro 🤣
@@dennisyoung4631 there very much is a snake called garden snake in my language
It was terrifying just watching Chandler handle his green mambas, and seeing one climbing back up the hook towards his hand!
Yup! I had goosebumps and was genuinely worried, even though I knew that he must have been OK in the end.
@@tigermunkywhat’s even more scary is he just got bit by a cobra in India and was very close to death.
@pewsay-amethystleader6385 Close but not close at the same time. He took the proper pre-hospital precautions and contained the venom pretty well. He could have been much worse off had he not known what to do after being bitten by the time he got the the hospital.
@@pewsay-amethystleader6385 not even close. He had minimal side effects because he was smart about it and kept the venom from flowing.
Clint: *uploads another snake episode*
Orca: “Snakes? Yuck!”
Go suck a man o' war, orcas!
I don't get the joke 😢
@@DementedSheepCrap
I was referencing that one video, where Clint reviewed this cheesy book called “Who Would Win? Ultimate Ocean Rumble”, which in itself is a sequel to his review of the Ultimate Reptile Rumble book.
@markcobuzzi826 appreciated, thanks my friend.
Keep doing these videos even if it’s not “pet snakes”. For someone who is a venomous snake keeper, this is highly educational.
Also FUNNY AF "less dangerous Mamba is like saying less dangerous hand grenade"
Yo can i pet one 💀🌚
@@EnderGoku9001 Yes, but perhaps only once
Have you considered getting Mangshan Pit Vipers? They're another venomous snake that Clint covered, and probably the most beautiful snake I've ever seen. He recommended that experienced keepers and breeders of venomous snakes get a pair and breed them. I don't know if you breed snakes?
@@conlon4332I saw those at an exhibit I visited recently. They’ll run you about 3K but absolutely gorgeous snakes
Getting a real "Clever Girl" vibe out of the mamba, like it's somehow trying to sneak out of the enclosure
I love that, even while being adamant that these are not good pet snakes, Clint still does the due diligence of explaining what you would need to keep it, should you disregard his advice.
I'm sure that has saved at least a handful of snakes from an uneducated keeper so far. ❤
Also, if you also have a Chuckwalla, you got keep them separate or else the Green Mamba will be at risk
Truer words were never spoken.
The chuckwalla inflates itself when bit, reversing the flow of venom back into the snake with such pressure it ruptures the mambas head.
There's nothing I love more than continuity references. 😂
Every time Clint was talking, I was distracted by the (cobra?) snake in the terrarium behind him who seemed to be checking out what was happening.
The way they were wandering around when Chandler got them out was actually really cute, even if it was a little scary
so with four species of mambas known to the world, if they happen to discover a new one, we already have the perfect celebratory song for the occasion of finding Mamba No. 5.
Oh glad you mentioned the rat snake! The whole time I was sitting here like “rat snakes have more bitey attitudes but they don’t have spicy bite and look just as pretty”
If you want a safe alternative to a green mamba, get a green bush rat snake (Gonyosoma prasinum). They look more like green mambas than red-tailed green rats do IMO.
Also Gonyosoma oxycephalum looks just like green mamba, but without venom
@@krystofholub9135 Clint mentioned that in the video - the red tailed rat snake. Smooth greens look like mini green mambas, too.
I like rough green snakes (Opheodrys aestivus). Not quite as bright emerald (though my monitor is busted at the moment, so not 100% sure), but very pretty, still climb, and eat insects!
I think people that want venomous snakes want them because they are venomous. So getting a non-venomous look a like will probably never do!
My friend has a Texas rat snake and it is a very cool snake but I was told their temperament is fairly hostile. Would that be correct statement from her?
green mambas are some of the most beautiful animals to ever exist, seriously amazing and fascinating animals.
Can you do Boomslangs? My fiancé lived in South Africa and while the Boomslang is extremely venomous it was the most docile thing in the area. They had to move it from the house like 3 times in as many weeks.
Great, funny and informative video as always! Also, I really appreciate that you provided a link in the description where people can buy their own mamba :P Love those little details!
Chandler on his channel: Pure unbridled chaos + trying to keep Cameo away from the shrimp po boys
Chandler on Clint's channel: calm and collected
Maybe Clint threatens him with chuckwallas when he gets roudy.
Awesome video Clint and Chandler. Can you do one for a Copperhead? I feel it is one of the most likely pet venomous snakes people (in the US) are likely to consider.
If I were to get a venomous snake it would be a copper head. But I'm not going to get a venomous snake. Maybe a bamboo rat snake because they have similarly beautiful patterns.
Well, my name's John Lee Pettimore,
Same as my daddy and his daddy before
You hardly ever saw grandaddy 'round here,
He only came to town about twice a year…
Don't ever stop doing what you doing Clint
These are perfect collabs, I love the attitude toward these animals. Respecting their abilities while appreciating them.
The snake in the back watching the show, is so cute.
In my opinion the Western Green Mamba is the most awesome snake visually. The scale pattern is so different and vibrant!
What incredible snakes! Chandler’s knowledge and confidence is off the charts. Amazing!
His "wild" life is actually wild... He's so skilled and so on point with these animals, but he's got a few that make me fear for his general safety and wellbeing any time he interacts with them. Justina his female king cobra, and the black mamba that Clint did his previous video on. Both of them are just... intense, even through a camera man.

Chandler has alot of knowledge. i like when he is toned down and teaching, not bouncing off the walls lol
ditto!
Clint will not stop showing us amazing animals in person, that could kill him before he have travled to middele-earth and given us a indepth review of Smaug.
Within the comment thread of an earlier CR video, I gave my prediction of how he would rate Smaug and why. I am pasting it again down below...
*Smaug, The Best Pet Dragon?*
*Handleability: 0/5 -* Quickly grows to a size big enough to handle owner instead; may fly away; too arrogant and greedy to be reasoned with; can easily kill a person with teeth like swords, claws like spears, tail like a thunderbolt, wings like hurricane, and breath that is death; only perks are reception to flattery, lack of venom, and inability to drop its tail
*Care: 1/5 -* At early age, meat must be pre-roasted; will eventually need Erebor-sized cave with growing bed of gold; requires multiple cow-sized meals per day at full size; no heat lamps needed
*Hardiness: 5/5 -* Lifespan lasting hundreds of years and armor like tenfold shields, rendering it impervious to anything other than black arrow to chest
*Availability: 1/5 -* Only available to communities rich enough to attract one in the first place
*Upfront Costs: 0/5 -* Once acquired, it robs owners of all monetary possessions and leaves them broke
*Overall: 1.4/5*
Here's a nickname: the 'emerald tree mamba.' So it can join the emerald tree skink, emerald tree monitor and the emerald tree boa.
The four ideal emerald pets. I like it!
Gods I remember when Clint's channel only have thousand sub, back in 2017, I was looking for a snake for myself, at that time, way to go Clints, in the end I choose corn snake.
Much love from Jakarta Indonesia❤
Take a shot everytime Clint says "mamba"
Also on the subject of finding venomous snakes at a pet store, there was a pet store in Kentucky (where I live) where the store misidentified a banded water snake and a guy bought it. He ended up buying and being bitten by a cottonmouth. Bro just wanted to give his new friend a boop and lost a thumb. How they went as long as they did without realizing it was a cottonmouth I have no idea but this goes to show the importance of knowing your snake identifications.
You've covered emerald tree boas. I'd love to see a score on green tree pythons!
Yes please. Not that I need convincing, I’ve already got one. But would love to hear your witty energetic take on them
That tiniest movement of the eye at 00:18 is probably the scariest thing in the whole 14 minutes of the video
With expertise comes all that calmness. Great work guys. As always ❤
I love these videos, the format of "under absolutley no circumstances should you ever even considder getting these snakes as a pet, but if nothing short of divine intervention can stop you this is how you do it as safely as possible" is great.
Saturday.
Clint day!
Love it keep it coming!
Eastern Greens are my second most favorite snakes after Gaboon Vipers. I mean, just look at the color and the intelligence. Did I mention the color?
The whole "safe" versus "safer" confusion is real. 480 volts is deadly. 120 volts is deadly, too, but is safer than 480 volts. The word "safer" does not indicate any actual level of safety by itself. It is only a comparison.
That little king in the back watching what was going on for the entire video
The Eastern Green Mamba is beautiful. I would love to see them is person. As a snake keeper, I would not add one to my snake family. Appreciate the review.
Holy. Freaking. Cow. That is seriously one of the most beautiful animals I've ever seen. Wow!
Jameson's mambas can actually be quite pretty, some are almost a sort of shade of greenish-turquoise. Eastern greens are both pretty and interesting.
Who's the curious cutie watching everything from the tank behind ya?
I love the green mambas.. These are extraordinary and gorgeous.
I once met a Green manager without glass in between. It wasn't pleasant at all. It didn't attack. It didn't even threaten me. It wasn't my first venomous snake, but it was my first venemous snake that wasn't a Viper. I like Vipers. I don't mind being around them. They don't bother me, I don't bother them. All good. That Green Mamba was a very active and curious snake. And it came at me. Investigating, not aggressive but still. And it came faster then I dared move backwards.
Clint's intro to the now pic is like a flashback but not a lot has changed at the same time. i love it
So if they discovered a fifth species of Mamba, would they call it Mamba #5? 😂 Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Yes! Dendroaspis quintus!
Take my like and leave, omg
I love how Chandler said, "Well hi there!" . And there was a moment there where they seemed pretty unsettled and both heads were coming at him....yikes!
Video Idea. Even though it's mentioned often, what about an entire video about fear of snakes? "Afraid of snakes? Maybe I can help."
Thanks Clint for always making educational, fun and easy to listen to videos! I've always loved animals but consistently learn things from here. 🍃🖤
"your heart may stop, and that is generally undesirable" 😂
This is cool, but I wish you'd evaluate rough and/or smooth green snakes (Opheodrys), which seem like they might be a more reasonable option for most folks.
"Well, right away it will be different to a black mamba bite" makes it sound like a black mamba bite is a common personal frame of reference lmao
the cobra in the bg at the start staring out like "hi mom i'm on tv :) "
You never answered the important question. How would a fight between one of these and a chuckwalla go?
We already know the answer to that question. We were very concerned that a chuckwalla would show up and kill these poor, defenseless snakes while we were filming this video.
Sweet finally RUclips channel that will actually give us some type of facts about the animals that's always great Clint's one of the best Chandler is all right lol
The little cobra behind Clint is so cheeky-looking. What a cutie
Anyone else completely distracted by the cobra in the background?! Just hanging out paying attention to everything 😂
Those eastern green mambas are gorgeous. That is also an amazing tie you are wearing, Clint.
That part where it got up to the face and sed the heart will stop made me laugh
It’ll bight you but your heart won’t stop
Chandler might feel safe handling all these green mambas and cobras and whatnot, but even Chandler and probably Clint would be terrified of Big Ounce.
What I'm saying is that Clint should do a "Big Ounce, The Best Pet Prairie Dog?" video
Could you do a video on Texas rat snakes? They are amazing and unique animals that can make amazing pets. They are similar to corn snakes in some ways but different in other.
One of the most beautiful snakes in the world. That and the Jamesons are some of my favorites. Hard to find a non-venomous snake that is that beautiful of a green, and as bright. Maybe some of GTPs and ETBs but still... The Red Tail Green Ratsnake is the closest safe alternative i guess lol (awesome snake too tho)
Fun fact they’re more black than the black mamba.
Love this channel 👍 I find the different mamba types and the relation to the king Cobra fascinating.
This chandler’s mannerism in handling these appear so different then when he was handling the Cobra that bit him in India(or even several of the snakes that didn’t bite), I wonder if traveling as a USA citizen which make you feel superhuman in confidence affected his judgement subtly enough to change his handling style. I wonder if we will see a reaction video from Clint.
That cobra in the background keeping an eye on Clint is actively keeping an eye ln things.
“you’re heart may stop :) which is generally undesirable.”
This channel thought me many things, but I will cherish this one. Venemous death noodle is still better option than child, at least according to scores.
These are all truly beautiful snakes ❤
Here's an interesting idea for you next best pet review: The goose. I really think it's something worth looking into and may even give the Chicken a run for its money.
Plus bigger is better.
I've always loved the green mambas, they are so pretty.
You guys are living my dream. Thank you.
The fabled Mamba #6.
"Have you ever wondered which mamba makes the best pet?"
Honestly can't say I have.
Little known fact there are a multiple types of Mambas out there, my favorite is number 5
I meet somebody who had been bitten by a green mamba and was left as if he had experienced a stroke, NASTY! This was after he had been taken to hospital within half an hour.
I know they are dangerous but I can’t help but admire it’s vivid green coloring.
I love the cobra in the background photo bombing the entire video 😂😂😂
Clint, you really should re-evaluate working with Chandler, for a number of reasons.
Tyyyy for these amazing informative lovely videos ..learned so much abt snakes now ..now in love with them before was terrified had snake phobia!
that cobra in the bg with the flared hood, and mamba flinching at clint's hand movements
If you want a stupidly green, angry shoelace, vine snakes won't kill you.
My not-so-local (40km away) reptile store had Death Adders for sale last time I was in there. But, y'know, Straya.
Yeah this snake is absolutely stunning. To be honest, any members of Elapidae are potentially extremely dangerous due to their neurotoxic venom, but the black mamba, kraits, brown snakes and taipans have to be the absolute worst. Some cobras are really bad as well apparently, but the most venomous species are seldom kept as pets (the Caspian cobra and the Phillippine cobra)
Well , a spotted harlequin snake from africa is an elapid , with just a mild venom that can cuase nothing more than a headache , they are also very small snakes
@@FOXpawsUwUthey aren’t elapids they’re in the same family as stiletto snakes which have horrible necrotic venom
@@FOXpawsUwUthe bandy bandy is the only elapid with truly mild venom
@@FOXpawsUwU yeah its not all elapids that are bad. If you look at what are generally considered the deadliest snakes (the black mamba, king cobra, russels viper, saw scale viper and bush master) 3 of them are actually viperids.
@@FOXpawsUwUI believe they're atractaspidae not elapids.
Great video. Nice cameo by Chandler too. I love how the cobra in the tank behind you just chilled out and watched you. I'm thinking she was eyeing up those Mamba's for dinner!!
I swore it was fake till its tongue came out once.
Clint, my local pet shop actually does have mambas… and gaboons, king cobras, rattlesnakes, etc 😅
Gotta love texas 😂
Where
WHERE???
i think a video on “pet quail” would be fantastic
Now I want a "Sumatran Tiger, The Best Pet Mammal?" episode. 12:43
Eastern green mamba look so green and insanely beautiful. They look so unreal like something out of a dream or some fantasy story.
I can't watch Chandler's videos without cringing. He's either gonna be hospitalized or worse from a mishap.
He's so hopped up on meds he wouldn't notice without paperwork in triplicate...
that cobra in the background is checking out those mambas
Great vid
Just me noticing the snake in the background, giving his professional opinion of if the human, is the best pet for him.
Dat cober behind ya 😆
"Least dangerous hand gernade" beautiful way of putting it lmao
I wish I had seen this episode about two weeks ago, as on July 4th my wife and I got a green mamba for my mother in-law. While she is still pretty youthful, it looks like the green mamba could be a handful. Damn!
Green mambas are one of the most beatiful snake I have seen
Least dangerous hand grenade. Yeah.
id never own a venomous snake but the videos are very entertaining.
Please keep doing these videos. I have zero desire to own a venomous snake, much like I have little desire to wake up and play Russian roulette every morning. However, Clint constantly trying to convince me to buy one with his fun loving message of poor decisions and death just might turn me around eventually.
"The least dangerous hand grenade" is an amazing description.
