I forgot to mention the terrible footoegs! You must change those 😂. Also the bike goes 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. I'll pin this comment and add things I forgot.
Super reliable bike, i did from southern Spain to Finland across Europe and back in one month last summer and no issues at all still going strong, i use it daily to commute. I recommend it hands down🤙
Heyy, I'm looking to buy one with around 26k kms (17k miles) on it...has good service records and picking it up from a well known friend. I plan on keeping it for atleast 20-30k kms more.... what's your opinion?
Bought a new 899 in September 2014 and have now done over 25,000 miles on it and...it’s been pretty bloody bulletproof tbh! I still love the thing now as much as when I first bought it, only a couple of minor issues, clutch master cylinder seal wore a tiny hole through it, but I replaced that with a KTM 690 Duke seal kit for £20 where Ducati wanted £280 for a complete new master cylinder 😳!! And the heatshields on my exhaust worked loose and started rattling, so I bought a “new” secondhand set off EBay for £160 and when I fitted those I also “De-flappered “ the Y piece so it’s straight through now,....more than loud enough!! As you say, the red paint is very soft and easily chipped, it has no lacquer coating on, so I’ve fitted loads of 3M’s paint protection film to the fairing and tank, this really helps keep the paintwork in good nick. I’ve also got CNC racing footpegs and loads of carbon fibre on it, plus MRA dark windscreen, custom made Garmin mount and loads of other bits and pieces. It’s a total blast to ride, but you have to work at it and be on the ball to go fast, in its power delivery it’s almost two-stroke like, you need to be in the 8 - 10k Rev band, and you’re doing twice as many gear shifts on this compared to some of the other bikes I own, what people seem to forget is that it’s only a 898cc twin, I ride with guys who have BMW S1000rr, Fireblades, and 1290 KTM’s and I’m normally the one leading the ride, when bikes are this good, the main factor is the rider,..not an extra 50 horsepower or so , sure it would get blitzed on a long straight, but that’s just “Drag racing” no skill involved in straight line speed. I think the reason it takes a little bit of input to initiate a turn is the fact that the standard wheels are really pretty heavy, I’m just deciding whether to splash out on some carbon BST’s or some Oz Gass, I think it would handle a lot better with those on, also I’d like an Öhlins shock for it. I keep test riding other bikes trying to think of a replacement for it, but every time I get back on the 899 , I think it’s equally as good, or better than the bike I’ve just tested, and nothing, ... just nothing looks as good as these in the flesh, I’m not even tempted by the new V2 , I’d rather spend some money on some real trick bits for the 899. I may try going down one tooth on the front sprocket as you have done for a little more drive, did it affect your speedo accuracy? I think your Termignoni upmap is responsible for your poor fuel economy, on a weekend blast with the boys, mine will do mid 40 mpg, even on a track day it did 37 mpg , UK gallons mind. Good review mate on a fantastic bike, I would buy another one in a heartbeat 💓
Poucher Col it set it off 4mph it was nothing noticeable and the change in acceleration was WAY more than worth it. Would do it again for sure. Also I agree with all your statements. Truly an amazing bike
Absolutely awesome review. Very honest, balanced and you kept the opinionated parts to a minimal yet valuable amount. I have watched quite a few of these reviews as I plan on picking one up when I get back to the U.K. and you’re video has been the best I have seen. Subscribing for sure.
Great review, had one for 3yrs NEVER had a breakdown, tons of power unless u really go looking for more.About 35mpg for me. Have to work on sound pickup, very hard to hear at times.
All depends on your market. Mine was purchased for 8k with 2k miles at the making of the video. I have seen some that had scratched fairings for 6k. Like anything as well prices changes with time and demand.
@@MrNsentra yeah I think most prices have gone up on everything since I posted this. But I guess this time was the golden age for pricing on these bikes lol
I'm stuck between this 899 or a daytona 675r as my bike upgrade choice... i would use it mostly for street and fun riding on weekends and nice weather, not my primary vehicle. Also like the idea of taking it to the track sometime. Alot of people are saying the 899 would be better for street riding because of the daytona's riding position but I love everything about the Daytona (except for the looks which the 899 wins in that department). Also not a huge fan of the 899 sound compared to the daytona, is this ducati just a much better choice than the daytona- would I get the daytona and regret my purchase because of how uncomfortable it is? Could anyone comment on what would be a better choice?
I have owned both and I can say that the Ducati is more pleasurable but I think the 675r is the more comfortable. You can’t go wrong with either but I find myself taking the Ducati out more than the 675.
I can barely hear your voice. But on the upside, I can hear the bike super well, so that's kinda fun haha but does make it a bit hard to figure what you're saying at times. But then you don't mind it so much because of the glorious soundtrack...
Martin Zvarík just my opinion but no. I like the look of the 899 better. The power difference isn’t worth it either. The 899 is lighter. I’m sure some would disagree with me but just my opinion. I have ridden both for long rides
I bought the ram stem mount, then used the base and went to Home Depot and got a bolt to thread into the base and a wing but for the base. Add me on Instagram and dm me, I’ll give you a more thorough walkthrough brosxgarage
What the hell, how can the 899 cost 9k max in the US, that's insane. 2 years ago too. Right now in France the 899 is AT LEAST 13k USD dude wtf, I'm so jealous
sujay Patil yes, outside of price, and power which elongate it from the class. Ducati themselves classify the bike as a sport bike. You can google the 899 class and it shows Ducati’s own classification

Not gonna lie, it hurt me a little inside to hear the paint job on my 959 was absolute trash. But its true and I need to accept that.

Please help:
On the dash,it always shows that the bike is on neutral even if I am riding and on the box that shows the gear,it flicks C
ive heard of gear selector display issues on 899. take it dealer
Good review! So just curious so did you just go 1 down on the front sprocket then?
Hey you liked the comment but didnt actually answer the question lol so did you change anything with either sprocket?
@@TH-rs3fs hey sorry! I believe I went down one in the rear
How much did you gear your bike down by?
I got problem with gearbox position sensor with my 899. I have replaced 2 times already and its cost 200$ each :/
Why are you driving with the headlight on full beam?
I have a custom headlight setup and my lows are actually my highs, highs are a low single with LED

When did you do the valve adjustment
It should be done around 15k miles the first time.
nice video dude, I will get the 899 after this, but too loud for the exhaust lol then I can't hear u clearly
Yeah I will work on audio quality for my next video. You will enjoy the bike!
You should look into a Hypermotard 939
Nice Review.... Can someone with 160cm ride this bike?
Yes! I have a friend who is around the same height and races hers. You would not want the comfort seat though.
You forgot to mention that 0-60mph can get done in 2.6 seconds. Especially myself at 170 pounds this bike flys.
