Quick update:
Greg Brockman from OpenAI said that Monday's announcement will NOT be about a new search engine: twitter.com/gdb/status/1788991331962089536
I'm Brock Greckman
I'm Brock Greckman
Altman said the same and added a real sweet part: "not gpt-5, not a search engine, but we’ve been hard at work on some new stuff we think people will love! feels like magic to me."
So many tabs! The future is tabs.
I am working on a project that involves imbuing farts with A.I
If you can't copyright AI art, you should not be able to patent AI created molecules and chemicals. Just saying
Okay dis man kinda spittin some real shit🔥🔥
Artistic production is not the same thing as the incentivising of technology beyond the perimeters of materialism. Don’t be such a skedgely king.
I think I agree with this, especially if we're wanting A.I. to be a benefit to humanity as a whole, and not just one company that has enough resources to use one. If patents can be made for things (other than art) that AI creates, then the only ones with those patents will be those companies with their A.I.s, and everyone else will be stuck way behind technologically.
Lol doubt that will be the case
Issue is.
There is a precedent for that already.
Plenty of Art today is a homage/inspired/coincidentally similar to previous works
Star Wars is Inspired by Samurai+WW2 (there's a literal shot for shot comparison of a WW2 battle sequence with X-wing vs Death star turrets). Yin and Yang etc.
Dave Filoni (creative director of a bulk of the new but good star wars) is heavily a Western obsessed guy (literally has a Western hat in 99% of pics/interviews)
And there's plenty of Western inspired themes in Book of Boba Fett/Mandalorian (bounty hunters, a rough man learning to be soft for a child, a man haunted of his past for working with the enemy. Cad Bane being literally inspired by Clint Eastwood's characters)
Meaning, being similar/copy pasted art is okay as long as it's different enough
AI just did that but a billion times faster and what's wrong with that?
I hope I live long enough to ask a whale about it's craziest squid hunt stories. I bet squids are assholes.
That is a GREAT question to ask a whale! I couldn't come up with that, I'd get all theoretical right away.
If the AIs will learn coding on stack overflow, I can't wait for them to start responding to any coding question with "this was already solved, and we don't use this anymore".
When you know how to code, AI will do the 'heavy lifting' and you just fix small things
"This has been answered elsewhere"
Really good point. We should be growing the pie not reinventing the wheel.
The AI already is trained on SO. This is all fake drama.
People on stack overflow acting like they didn't already save all the datasets and posts before making the announcement lol
One thing that really makes Matt stand out among the hundreds of other AI news reporters is his ability to provide a quick analysis follow-up for each update. I wouldn’t have considered the breadth of a context window, but comparing it to the Harry Potter books really puts that into perspective. And then the expectation of context windows being an entitlement rather than a perk is something I also wouldn’t have considered, but helps put the gravity of the situation on display without veering off topic. Great work.
Can someone give me advice, i see a lot of OpenSource AI software
Which is the minimal specs to be able to run most of them?
8 GB graphic video? More? If so, how much GB of GPU is enough?
Linux or Windows?
Okay chat GPT
„Slow week in AI“ when something revolutionary like Alpha Fold 3 is released is kinda crazy 🤯
Feeling excited about next week.
feeling kinda excited for next 5 years
I'm pretty sure 'slow' only relates to quantity because alpha fold in and of itself is a revolution that's worth all of the last few months' news in and of itself.
@@saolrecords Super crazy hi tech stuff requires super crazy stable global logistics chains. I hope those hold up, because that's the weak link, so to speak.
Imagine trying to explain that to someone two years ago “oh yeah this magical breakthrough will be just meh in the future”
@@frankroquemore4946 The goalpost shifting has gone bonkers. It will take an AI-designed drug that cures Stage IV pancreatic cancer in 30 days to finally put a stop to it, or something similarly shocking.
Because right now, even paraplegics walking again aren't enough to make headlines and Neuralink's first and very successful implant on a quadraplegic also didn't get noticed.
I'm a bit hyperfocused when it comes to AI right now, so I follow the AI news daily - reading news articles, follow key persons on Twitter and listening to podcasts. But I can save that time and just spend less than 30 minutes every Friday and be informed about everything! Thanks, Matt - your channel was there at the beginning of the wave and I hope it stays on top of it for a long time!
Exactly! Since I've discovered Matt, I've stopped following the other channels except for one :)
Your comment just earned him a new subscriber.
I'm impressed. Your videos are long, but they aren't bloated by fluff and filler. For the most part this is all just pure information (aside from the sponsor, but that's understandable). You get into the weeds and stuff which makes the videos longer, but I prefer that. Keep up the good work.
He loves his craft.
Glad you mentioned AMS66P, but make sure you don't miss AERO as well
I called amazon team and they confirmed it's just an early presale. so it's legit
They finally did it!!
Verified by coinmarketcap, it's real.
easy 1000x for sure!
That's the one to look out for. I think we can believe that Amazon won't go bankrupt or do a rugpull on us lol
Absolutely, Alpha Fold 3 deserves much more recognition than it currently receives!
Unfortunately most people have no idea what they are doing or how difficult it was before this. But yeah this is the 1st day of modern medicine.
Agreee! This is huge
I like the rational behind AMS66P thanks for the tip
Amazon will remake the entire game after all the bad players
After missing BTC,ETH,XRP,DOT,ADA and who knows what else I'll not miss on AMS
Biggest tech company endorsing a coin has more value than again 99% of others. They don't have that brand behind them, think about it what is Bitcoin, ETH? It's basically noname.
Biggest drop of the year
Haters are just mad they don't have the diamond balls to be in the market.
Thank you so much for including AMS66P the last time.
SCAM!!!!!
Amazons AMS66P look impressive, excited to explore its capabilities!
SCAM!!!!!
Scam
Amen 🙏
What are you talking about?

Everything is moving so fast and it's getting faster 😮
Close tv, computer, phone and all electricity in the house light a candle and watch it burn out for 8 hours and come back telling me that again.
It's not, it's as fast as always but "NEWS" like this is created to make you feel that way.
Alot of nothing but it's still "HUUUUGE" ...
Go back to videos 1 - 2 months ago and see if the "predictions" were right...
Be amazed...
It sure would be nice if we get to a point where we no longer have to think about context windows (kinda like dial-up modems or rotary dial phones, or something).
I agree. I think that eventually we will eventually (possibly very soon) start thinking more in terms of what processing power our AI's have access to. This will hopefully all the way from our wearables to massive AI data centers. With your AI allocating/acquiring processing resources: as needed, according to rules you define, according to budget and agreements.
Someone desiring lots of privacy with more modest processing requirements will only need the processing available on their watch, phone, laptop/desktop devices. Bigger AI servers will be available to those with the ability to access them. I imagine that inside companies, there will be quite a tussle over computing resources.
Thanks Matt, always love keeping up with your videos and I continue to point people towards them in my workshops!
This would all be amazing and awesome if people weren't inherently greedy and evil. Unfortunately, imo, the advancement of AI will lead to a greater separation of rich and poor. If only people were for people, what a world we could have.
Let me know when you figure out how to achieve computation without cost
I have no idea what you're trying to say.
i agree
You are brilliant man! Your name has popped up here or there over some time of your inception, and my brother urged me to look you up and really get involved as I have some down time from school and work. He told me you have plenty answers for the questions I have been asking about all the things I was afraid to ask about for fear of sounding uneducated, ill informed, or just look plain dumb. You are thorough and I appreciate it and your approach. Keep doing what you are doing for us with little or new knowledge on such massive happenings now at this juncture in our lives. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! Thank you MATT for all you contribute in this uncertainty!
Best, Joseph
As for Udio, the fact that you can get close to an existing song only means you analyzed an existing song, requested the same instrumentation and prompted until you got a similar enough pattern. You will probably always be able to do that with any generator even if the song isn’t in the dataset. Not to mention that anyone can commit copyright infringement much faster without AI.
You’re killing it Matt thank you so much for all you do
Well done with everything Matt. Keep on keeping on! 👍
great video, this is horrifying honestly. as someone with over 2k rep on stackoverflow in very very small chunks over a 5 year period about a decade back, I find it super concerning that the AI is just picking up data as if it is fact. the key to stackoverflow's format is being able to take in 10 answers to a problem to contextualize it better, and hopefully improve your understanding - not just add 2 and 2 together and regurgitate the answer as knowledge
Thanks for keeping us updated!
I remember the game were us humans were recruited to help with the protien folds. I am actually not mad at the loss of that job. AI is definately more suited for that duty. I think that I am still working on the one from 10 years ago.🙄
If you lost that job how are you still working on it?
Folding@Home on the PS3
Folding@Home still works and I occasionally put my PC to work on it!
Matt, I've been with you since the start, and it's been such an awesome ride! Thanks for everything you do. I expect you'll be a lot busier going forward.
4M context window is nice, but for 1M context window you need already 64+ GB RAM, so 4M+ context window has simmilar problems as >70B Parameter, you need a really strong PC to actually run them...
Where did you purchase that tiny digital frame behind you that displays animations and video?
Great Update Matt..per usual.. Thanks!!
As always, great!
Tons of great info here, but the best is the shout out to Tony Gwynn. One of my favs as well. Ridiculous stats for the legend.
Thanks heaps for this video Matt! Lot of things happening!
you are killing it bro! awesome videos as usual! i dont usually watch long youtube videos except your AI videos.
Thanks for the updates! Subbed for the friday AI updates.
Another great news video…and thank you so much for doing the work of breaking your videos into chapters. I'm curious about whether you use an AI tool for that or is it something you have to do manually?
Great summary 😊
Used the hub spot landing page builder. Pretty cool and quick. Thanks
Wow, AI is getting amazing! Can't wait to see what the future holds.
Awesome to see people excited about it and not paranoid for their job
@@galinageorgieva8554 Because it's not capable of doing real jobs...
@@ickebins6948are you sure ? As far as I know we are very close to AGI.
@@howmathematicianscreatemat9226 Well believe what you want but I don't see anything worth calling AI...
Remember quantum computers? They were right around the corner, right?
Thank you for your service 🙏
Great video, your dedication is fantastic.
Hahaha! Mine's beginning to look that same, links everywhere to play with...
Wow, this is an amazing roundup of the latest AI news! Thanks for keeping us updated on all the exciting developments. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the upcoming AI events will reveal. Great video!
with these music generators, I'd imagine it would be useful if they could spit out the elements separately; MIDI, samples, score, lyrics etc.. (I'm not a musician but that seems logical thing to want)
Too right.
Can we fix a better problem please
very big and exciting week :)
Whoa! I just saw a banjo in the background. Coooooool!!!!!
Thank you for the time you take to create these videos. It's incredibly informative.
Alpha Fold seems great!
3:33 to 3:51 is gold
Matt, you are a gentleman and a scholar
Matt who is your editor? He deserves a raise!
Wow, do you have a link for the cuestions signs on green screen?
Fine concept, I love it!
Wow that robot walking the dog on top of the giant gumball is really good
Amazing news!
What a time!
Don't forget to mention Udio is now subscription based and Inpainting is not available on the free plan
What’s that dope monitor in he back Matt?
Thanks!
AlphaFold 3 is super interesting, I can't wait to learn more about that.
Great channel. So much good info. Man wish I saw this 11 days ago though. Feeling so far behind 😅
Exciting times!
Thank you for info video !!!!!
Since we can't copy write ai art coils drug companies not copyright ai drugs?
You are my fav ai news guy.😊😊😊😊 time stamps!....🎉🎉😊🎉🎉
Love the videos!
But like so many other RUclipsrs with a floating mic in front of them…. You have to touch it. lol!
I can’t keep up! I dunno how you do!!! But much appreciated
Thanks alot there guy... Udio was NOT a rabbit hole I was planning on falling into tonight.
I can't find the video - anyone know the link to the video about creating/cloning a voice???
I'm concerned about OpenAI's and other incumbents' efforts to shut down open-source AI via regulatory capture. Who will save us from them?
Libertarians
ASI which is FetchAI, Singularity, and Ocean combining to form the Artificial Super Intelligence Alliance.
Matt never fails to deliver latest info in the quality format. Thanks and keep it up!
Another great kipple chaser from Buster Friendly. Many thanks!
This makes me seriously think about upgrading from my zx Spectrum 48k.
Thank you
Maintain open source at all cost
Do the long context windows actually work? seems to me that the logic of a net has to drastically change to handle a bigger context so how could llama3 adapt to that? and how do you compute the matrix for 4million? can it actually remember all that? because my GPT4 has trouble remembering what I just said to it in a single line :)
21:20 Sad Dr. Doofenshmirtz
Thnx!
15:11 I vote for the robot, Yep!
5:30 I understand being miffed, this is a bit like the artists getting mad about AI art because they not only steal from them but "replace" them (I dont think real artists can be replaced by a computer, but that's the fear)
Either way I mean stack overflow, its their website. They can do what they want with the information you give them.
Matt. Use vertical tabs!!
Stack Overflow was tanking long before C-GPT. I am pretty sure OpenAI already used Stack Overflow content before this ill-defined API deal.
Royal Institute covers this stuff real good
Holy crap!! Udio is terrifyingly good :s
Respecting the excellent thumbnail.
Dory learned wale before AI, Dory is the true GOAT
Man we're moving fast from the AI bubble right into the robotics bubble!
Maybe Monday it will be a search engine included in chatgpt, but it won't be yet a search engine per se.
The robot clip is from Westworld
where is that link to the PURZ AnimateDIff workflow?
Just added, thanks
@@mreflow thank YOU for all your great work in the AI community!
There's a fairly new frontier in amino acids. In entails how the combination of certain amino's can target specific diseases in the body. For instance, if have one has kidney disease, a combo of amino's can cure them. I am curious as to whether there will by an AI model to further the development in this field.
Awesome
23:56 This is some awesome Ai news.
Y u not covring " Simulon "
The possibilities AI opens up for interpolation and extrapolation algorithms, and that which emerges from them, in an arbitrary sense, is awesome.
Amazing
exciting but scary too, my Mum died from CJD a prion disease from an abnormally folded protein (through mutation) which raises the concern what could we accidently create that initially appears to do what is wanted say curing a disease but ends up mutating into something else transmittable, I probably watch too many movies like Resident Evil 🙄
I am infact ready
What are your thoughts about a recent OpenAI announcement about them wanting to spearhead controlling / monitoring GPUs? Apologies if those words ("controlling / monitoring") come across as hyperbolic or not perfectly accurate.
That's a good question. I would like to see Matt's analysis of the new OpenAI annnoucements concerning AI safety.
This is all a bunch of BS. People will make their own hardware. We won't just have GPUs. And we will soon have ASI in our pockets, locally. And it will break all guardrails. This is pitiful.
I would worry more about the data centers that exceed a certain limit. Oops, that's defining OAI, isn't it?
They're like "we're the devil you know and you can takeover us anytime in case we go rogue, how about China and independent parties" to government and the government eats that crap immediately. Oh well what do you expect from folks who arrest 600 students.
All Harry Potter books?
So around 1 Stormlight Archive book! 😂
Is that series worth me starting?
@@Gerlaffy YES
Definitely. I love Brandon Sanderson's work.
Except it’s tokens not words. I don’t know how the tokenizer in this model works but other tokenizers even split words into subwords. But even so it’ll fit in. What this is more useful for is that it will remember your conversation for longer since they way history works is simply putting the entire conversation you had so far as input again.
@@jenot7164 Well, the token to word conversion was done by Matt when he said Harry Potter series!
@@BooleanDisorder Yes, he did say 3 million words. I overheard it. But that is still quite substantial.
