Running Lionel 259E with freight cars 06-09-2024

This video features a prewar Lionel 259E locomotive with 4 wheel tender and freight cars.
This train set was passed on to me yesterday by our daughter.
I removed a large amount of carpet fuzz from the armature drive gear and idler gears that had locked up the mechanism. After getting the armature and drive train turning I found it was not getting power to the brush plate. The reverse drum had separated and was laying in the bottom of the E-unit.
I removed the E-unit and direct wired to the brush plate and through to the field.
There was a No. 1045 Flagman with operating button as well as the original 50 watt Type N transformer in the box. An oval of O gauge track with 12 track lock plates and power lock on.

That's a cute little set, authentic 1930's vintage. Old but still running with TLC!

Thank you for watching and commenting. There was original aluminum tinsel in the box and it looks like a snowman or something was glued to the front pilot at some point. The headlight bezel was in the very bottom of the box under the track and dust. I almost missed it.
