The COOLEST thing about American Horror Story is that they give work to some actors that don't get a lot of work, some who've gotten "past their prime" some whose disabilities don't offer many opportunities, and often enough for me, the writing is good.
Honestly I think you could have included The Last of Us, for horror and suspense. Good acting, compelling story, I loved the video game as many did, very popular...
@@angelicastallings1542 No it was cancelled. Given that it is from 2022, if it was going to be picked up by another network, it would have been by now. Not impossible but very likely, not coming back.
Carnivale 2003-2004 was only two seasons but boy what a wonderful deep dive into the gothic through a narrative centred around a Depression Era travelling circus. Top stars, haunting cinematography, memorable characters created a mood for audiences, namely me that has never been matched although AHS nearly did.
I’m going to have to go back and finish this, you’re the second person to talk about Carnivale. I must of been in a bad mood because I don’t remember loving it as much but definitely giving it another shot now
I would definitely recommend Penny Dreadful (great acting, fantastic period setting, interesting reimagining of some of the classic monsters along with new characters), maybe the first few seasons of True Blood (though maybe more supernatural soap opera than straight horror), and maybe even the first 5 seasons of Supernatural.
All great options!! I just recommended supernatural and penny dreadful in a recent video so I did not want to duplicate too many and sound repetitive. My wife was addicted to True Blood.
A note on The fall of the house of Usher, is not just one Poe story, but several, each chapter is inspired by a Poe short story with a round overall story as link.
I just wanted to comment to say thank you for this amazing video and your channel as a whole. I'm sure it's tempting to AI generate scripts and have a synthesized voice read it. I appreciate your genuine commentary and takes. Never change, you have dedicated supporters!
Thank you I appreciate it!! I make my videos this way because I see sooooooooooooooooo many of those channels out there. Glad to see others enjoy it too :)
The Outsider series from Stephen King was crazy dark and wonderfully directed by Jason Bateman as well as phenomenal acting. A lot better than most King adaptions.
Bitten was so good and underrated. As a big fan of the book series I was excited when I found out they made a series, just super bummed it got cancelled because there is a whole world of supernatural characters and creatures in the books and could have had the potential to be great if they had a chance to explore more
Slasher and Scream definitely good options. Twin peaks for whatever reason doesn’t really do it for me, I know that might be blasphemous but The Outsider rocks. It should be on this list, just a mistake by me when I was putting the list together 🤦
I actually have not covered these two yet. SCD is great but I can honestly say I have not watched the Dracula series yet. I say yet because I just watched the trailer and added it to my watchlist.
@@TheBingeList99 first episode was great. It was a weird time, especially for TV. It seemed that it ended up being a faux social commentary...mmm...ya know?
This looks so good. My kind of movie and I LOVE fear Street. To be able to go back and watch the movies brand new again. I literally didn't want them to end. Anyways this will be my HALLOWEEN watch 🙌 I didn't think much of totally killer thought it was super predictable but its deffo worth a watch. Think this will be a secret gem 🎉 Roll on the 30th I'm obsessed with mask killing slashing maniacs 👏😝👌
Sadly AHS has gone so crap. I used to wait with bated breath for the new season teasers and now it’s just a woke satanic joke. It saddens me so much. I do not want to see shows deal with political crap from either side. Good Lord we can’t escape it.
I thought it had its moments but it was certainly more eerie and creepy than ever outright scary but I still think it’s that haunting and worth watching
How do people afford multiple streaming services? It drives me crazy that there are so many different services. Even RUclips channels want us to join for just “$1.99 a month.” They don’t realize that if we add up every dang thing we have to subscribe to, it’s a fortune!
Ash vs evil dead was modelled after Army of darkness and not the evil dead imo. That's why I stayed away from that show. Raimi got it right with evil dead 2, but he went overboard with army of darkness. Even with the video games they modeled it after army of darkness and not evil dead. Not a fan of the cringey one liners.
I actually had a backwards introduction into this franchise, I started with the show first and the movies second. But I thought the show was hilarious when I saw it, which is why I even watched the movies but humor is so subjective and I can see how the over the top stuff might not be for everyone, so I get it. I have not played any of the games though. Thanks for checking out the video though!
You might want to mention that some of these shows like Archive 81 and the Midnight Club were cancelled after 1 season so the mysteries are never explained
You're right! If I could pick to bring one back to finish things up it would definitely be Archive 81. I thought it was really good but apparently, the Netflix execs don't agree

@@justaguy6100 I freakin love The Last of Us, I didn’t think it was overly scary but you’re right it probably would be a good addition to this list!
Archive 81 is underrated.
For sure, I kind of forgot about it but putting this video together I remembered how good it was!
Is there going to be a second season
@@angelicastallings1542 as of this moment no they cancelled it but fingers crossed they pull it off the shelf in the future

Carnivale was incredible and so well made. HBO totally dropped the ball with it.

please tell me NBC Hannibal just barely missed this list! literally my favorite gothic romance with chef’s kiss cinematography
I am going to be honest with you here and say I totally forgot about it and feel like an idiot now 🤦
A note on The fall of the house of Usher, is not just one Poe story, but several, each chapter is inspired by a Poe short story with a round overall story as link.
I did not know that, but I am not super familiar with all of Poe’s work tbh. But definitely interesting.

Nice to find a list that isnt all AI. Subbed to see what you keep producing, keep up the good work.
Thanks, I’m glad to see people still enjoy hearing an actual human being! Thanks for the sub 👍
The Outsider series from Stephen King was crazy dark and wonderfully directed by Jason Bateman as well as phenomenal acting. A lot better than most King adaptions.
Someone else mentioned this and it should be on this list. I will say the same thing here ->🤦
@@TheBingeList99 there are so many it’s easy to overlook a few.

I agree, could use a few more werewolves in the later seasons, but I still really enjoyed it!
I'm just glad FROM is finally getting the love it deserves
I’m glad you’re glad, it deserves it!
Slasher? Scream? The Outsider? Twin Peaks?
Slasher and Scream definitely good options. Twin peaks for whatever reason doesn’t really do it for me, I know that might be blasphemous but The Outsider rocks. It should be on this list, just a mistake by me when I was putting the list together 🤦
From is excellent! The best horror series ever!
absolutely worth a watch!
I'm still pissed Archive 81 didn't get a second season.
definitely sucks but I still try to hold onto hope for shows like Archive 81 that A. they wise up or B. another service grabs it and continues it
I've watched Hill House every year in October since it came out.
That’s awesome! I know it creeps me out every time I even see the trailer lol it’s so good
I absolutely agree the Mike Flanagan series are ao damn good!
Modern day mastermind for Horror!
The reason it has a LOST vibe is because some of the Producers from LOST, are Producers on FROM.
Yeah they leaned pretty heavy into some of the same elements with this show
Did you already cover Santa Clarita Diet and Dracula? Both are very good.
I actually have not covered these two yet. SCD is great but I can honestly say I have not watched the Dracula series yet. I say yet because I just watched the trailer and added it to my watchlist.
Love the recs. You MUST get a new mic brother. I had to change the feed due to too much feedback in my car. I mean like now bro, it's really bad.
Thank you for telling me!
@@TheBingeList99I listen with head phones and it sounded fine to me 🤷🏻♀️
A real human being speaking? I can't believe it hahahaha

Archive 81 was great, very annoying that it got cancelled, while you’ve got brain rot garbage like riverdale going for 7 seasons
💯
2 streaming subs for a month is still a lot cheaper than a couple visits to the cinema

i really liked Carnivale, even thought they rushed the ending.....
I actually started it and never finished it so I’ll have to finish it and see what you mean
@@TheBingeList99 It was never finished it. It got cancelled after the second season.
I really hope they didn't cancel Castle Rock. It is what Lovecraft Country could have been. Don't bother with that.

Marianne is very good but canceled after the first season. French horror series that's spooked me good.
I am not sure why I did not know about this one but from the trailer it looks terrifying. I am definitely going to check it out.

I still remember watching Murder House when it was released and loving it and like you said being hyped for those early seasons
Castle Rock is not scary at all, it's more like American Gothic. I'd replace it with Channel Zero or Masters of Horror (Also check out Bates Motel).
I thought it had its moments but it was certainly more eerie and creepy than ever outright scary but I still think it’s that haunting and worth watching
