I saw this movie a week after my father passed away. He was fighting cancer for two years when he got Covid in the clinic where he had his chemotherapy. What I’ve learned from this movie is that you should never give up, always keep the simple moments in your mind, they become the most beautiful memories and go on with your life as the person you lost would like you to do. -Rest in Peace Dad, I’ll see you down the road.
I watched it and felt they were not even acting. It was real life. I liked that there was no sex, no bad language, no violence, no fast cars or accidents or explosions. I loved the compassion and vulnerability. That suffering man, talking about his son committing suicide, is something I will never forget in this life.
"I maybe spent too much of my life just remembering" is the exact wording and that "too much" makes it even more poignant. Marvelous performance by McDormand. Blown away.

This movie is so authentic. There are so many people who go through these emotions even if they are not nomads and I think that’s what makes this unique and great. The friendship, the loss, the adventure, the grief and the sorrow. All of it. If you have truly lived your life then this movie will resonate with you. Enjoy the good times because it is true that they are not forever and for the brief moments they are happening they are wonderful. See you down the road.

We need immigrants to keep our nation motivated, vibrant, and alive. Zhao is 38. Her American-born contemporaries include Greta Gerwig. Can you imagine Gerwig making a film like Nomadland? My view is that Gerwig would not be capable of creating such a film. Zhao created Nomadland BECAUSE she is Chinese-born and American-made. She is, in essence, the epitome of 21st Century New Americana because she takes action; she is not a victim; she does not make lofty political statements (I.e. X X Matters). She creates work with tremendous gravitas.

Congrats on the participation in the film! This is an important film that highlights American in the 21st century. It represents America in a better way than any film Hollywood has created in the past decade.
My father departed and lived in his car. For many years I never understood why, but now I finally get it. My human experience has expanded and this film captured it in the most poetic way. Just watched this film this evening and found it profoundly moving. Beautiful cinematography and magnificent performances all round. This film could be seen as a love letter to a way of life that’s free from material wealth, where friendship, love and contentment are what really matter.
And free from the past. Many of the characters had troubled past lives, often involving death, it is only when they let go and set themselves free in "nomadland" that they began to re-appreciate the meaning of life....
After Biden gets done with bulldozing single homes in the suburbs and making them live in high rise apartment buildings so they can track comings and goings and track bank accounts for transactions over $600, these nomads will eventually get regulated out of their nomadic life, maybe by high gas prices or no gas at all. There will be many people adrift when they outlaw private land ownership...
I felt as if she never found true friendship and love and left everyone who cared for her.. She related to everyone apart from the people who really cared for her.
Watched this yesterday. Frances McDormand's performance, as well as the cinematography, made you forget that it was a movie at times. Watching this movie is an experience.

Also the acting is incredible from everyone. From the professional actors to the real nomads they casted only a few hours before shooting! An absolutely legendary movie and not a second of it has been forgettable. It is just as touching as you can imagine and if not, more so. Cannot wait to see everyone’s reaction to this one!
Here's another interesting one for you, look for "Who is Bozo texino", it's about hobo life on the rails. I saw the film at a little outdoor showing back in the 90's when visiting friends in Tucson. It looks like it's on youtube, look it up.
We were six minutes in and turned it off. Not sure how you managed to watch it twice, but to each their own. This is a rubbernecker, like how some drivers slow down when their has been an accident on the side of the road out of morbid curiosity.
You are not homeless when you lose your house, but when you lose the people you have lived with. During our youth, we meet a lot of people and make lots of friends, but as time goes, you realize that these were short-lived friendships. They seemed important to us then, but now you realize that it was just a mirage. Only family is important. Everything else is less important. When you lose your parents, when you lose your spouse, only then do you understand what it means to be really alone.
What it is like to lose a sibling, well I still don't have the words for it. I lost 2 older brothers and 2 younger brothers, it is lonely without them; I miss them every day.

"The thing I love most about life is that there is no final goodbye" - hufff you just nailed it, man !!!
And profoundly boring. There's hardly anything original here...
I felt as if she never found true friendship and love and left everyone who cared for her.. She related to everyone apart from the people who really cared for her.
Watched this yesterday. Frances McDormand's performance, as well as the cinematography, made you forget that it was a movie at times. Watching this movie is an experience.

And divorce and parental alienation syndrome took those things from me sadly
Not just when you lose your parents or loved ones, but when they are really your soulmates... Loosing my parents before their time simply crushed me.
What it is like to lose a sibling, well I still don't have the words for it. I lost 2 older brothers and 2 younger brothers, it is lonely without them; I miss them every day.

No, vanlife isn't always glamorous and safe but it's a good way for people who know what matters to really live; which isn't surrounded by hundreds of CDs, DVDs, collectibles, etc. that never get touched and debt that chokes you until you can't breathe a peaceful breath. I enjoyed this movie because it wasn't ALL about the heartbreak and loss; it was about choosing your struggles and finding a path to some kind of fulfillment.
@@LorienVidal Fair enough. as Lincoln would say: there's meat in that.
but i'd be willing to bet 99% of people in the world would rather have their own house/apartment/job than be nomads.
true that there is always the silver lining. living a nomad like, though difficult, does give insight into life that being sheltered in a house/apartment/job never will.
Thoreau was right: simplify, simplify.
but i prefer to simplify my life in a house/apartment/job than the nomad way. you can do both. and i can travel couple/three times a year and rough it if i want to.
Just came out of the movies and it hit me so hard I can’t stop crying. Living this luxurious life, top world city, apartment with prime view, manager job in large corporation. Yet I feel like I am dead inside. I cry everyday after work thinking that I can change my life around. But I can’t seem to be making the first step. We’ve been so conditioned to live a certain way it’s disgusting.
Do it. Whatever it takes to change things. Life is far too short to be miserable.
Where can we watch it? Is it on Netflix?
Yes! Do it!!! Its never too late!
In the Philippines we call it "habang may buhay may pag asa" it means to say that "until youre alive you have hope and chance".
Goodluck Dwight Schrute!
I left everything behind to be a nomad 9 months ago. The first step is the hardest. If it's something you want just do it. We are not meant to be miserable and work jobs we hate and have no life. This is your only shot.... make it count my friend.
I was crying a lot when I finished this beautiful film, my family looked at me all disappointed and asking why are you crying, there were not action they said, I looked at them and I asked them did you really watched the deepest of this film or just were expecting drama, cars, guns, action, blood? In my humble opinion and perspective, this is a metaphor to our lives, the " trip" that she was taking is like our " LIFE" we are driving our van, we sleep, we wake up, we got to work, we MEET PEOPLE on our way, these people go, or just dissapear from your life, or just died, we have memories hidden in our hearts, we dont want to share all our life with people, we fell in love then we dont, and there we go driving, driving, driving, living, enjoying,. looking for an answer to our lives, looking for a home, a home where we can be happy, and real, and if we dont find to we keep driving, driving, driving.in my head I saw that from that film, I explained this to my family and then one day when I came home there they were watching it again, they looked at me and just smiled, yes I started crying again, this film is beautiful, the landscapes, the story, the acting, the sun, the desert, one day I was waiting for the bus and I saw the big signs on the walls, and she was holding a lamp, in the next one she was sitting relaxing like in a spa with the other old lady, then the next one she was in the middle of the mountains, and then I thought how many times we dont appreciate what we have right here, right now, we are so small, we have a lot around us and sometimes we are just living, eating, working. working. working, and NOT enjoying for a moment, I looked up and I saw the beautiful sun I step to the front and I let the sun hug me, I breathed very deep, and I closed my eyes, every time I pass by the same wall (close to my home) I yell inside my head NOMADLAND I LOVE YOU. appreciate what you have today, right now, dont wait for tomorrow. smile right now and look round you. LIFE IS TODAY. thank you for reading this.
NOMADLAND is by far the finest film made in the history of world cinema
Be here now 😊
This trailer feels like you're getting everything taken away from you only for you to realize you already had everything you could have ever wanted, and that you just gotta open your other eye to see it
Well put man, oh and cute doggo 🥺😭
there is nothing good about having to struggle and barely get by in Life while the top gets richer than they've ever been in the History of this Nation. nothing.
@@TheLinuxYes that's a lie, I've humbled myself through struggle, I know firsthand
@@MTGPringles so you also know that struggle and barely getting by is nothing to fantasize about. i'm going today to watch the film. i'm hoping they don't sugar coat it and make it seem like something cool to do. Struggle and barely getting by is not cool in the richest nation on earth.
@@TheLinuxYes I agree, tell us how it was without spoiling it please?
Amazing film. Wonderful storytelling. Frances McDormand’s best role since Fargo. Her performance here, and Anthony Hopkins in The Father, again displays the true heavyweight status of these fine artists. Fantastic and breathtaking the both of them in their respective movies.
Wonderfully said. I know a lot of people are upset that they won the lead acting Oscars but I for one am glad they both won. But let's not forget about Frances McDormand's excellent performance in "Three Billboards"!
I am so pleased Meryl Streep didn't get the lead in this.
With no disrespect to Meryl, I agree with you. She's a most amazing actor, and maybe I'm speaking just for myself, but she has just a wee bit too much elegance in her persona for me to make this part believable. They could not have made a better choice than Frances -- she brings 100% to all her characters. I can't wait to see this film. You see -- I am houseless -- but not homeless! Ha! I live aboard my sailing yacht.
@@svluckyspin7420 My thoughts exactly. I love them both & Frances was the perfect choice for this role.
This looks amazing!
We all feel that way Gabe
@@svluckyspin7420 Do you read Cruising World ? My family had a Tartan 30. There is a boat out of Bar Harbor called Puffin I want to sail on. Bucket list .
I have found that people in my circle have either loved or disliked this movie. But, I think those who have experience profound loss have really loved this movie and were moved by it. I would recommend
You know it's going to be a good movie when you get emotional from just the trailer. Looks great.
The cinematography is so gooddd
Lets hope for an oscar nod
@@purvashdangi1502 it did!!!!
This probably the most beautiful and heart breaking movie so far this year. Good job def worth your time and watch.
Very very beautiful.

I am a Nomad with tens of thousands of miles traveled via foot, bicycle, kayak, canoe and sailboat. Many countries visited and unforgettable experiences gained. No regrets, life is too short.
Those last lines legit made me cry at how heartfelt they really are.
I love the style of this director, how she captures the real people on whom her films are based and the way she records using natural light. I'm excited for what it will bring to Eternals
Wow I got teary-eyes just from the trailer?! I can’t wait for this!
Me too & I can't wait either.
Yep, that guy talking at the very end hit me right in the heart muscle. 🥺

I cried too
This movie is best enjoyed snuggled on a couch, red wine in hand with the lights turned off.
I did that (without the wine, had tea instead) and it was kinda boring. Good movie I guess but it's way too overhyped.
I’ve got 🍷❣️
As someone who is probably slowly transitioning into a nomadic lifestyle, this made me emotional. I haven't watched the film but I can tell it is going to be amazing!
I was absolutely struck by the powerful emotion portrayed by Chloe Zhao with this film. ❤️
Her ability to observe and interpret America in this way was miraculous. 🌟
As an American born in Arizona, I cannot imagine moving to China for few years and then attempting to make a film based on contemporary change. Even from a book. Then to write a screenplay from a popular book, direct and edit a film that wins the very top honors! As well as directing a world class actress to stellar results as well...Unbelievable achievement!!🌹
The music, visuals, pacing and build of Nomadland was exceptional!

This will win the Best Picture 2021.
You mean 2020, you do know The Oscars is going to happen right. Meaning all the movies that came this year and early next year are going to be nominated at the Oscars.
Well Mank might also be a tough contender

@@mohammadzekereya9311 Mank sadly is out, Chicago 7 is the only competition left against this. But I sincerely doubt this will win, it’ll be the new Roma vs. Green Book and this year’s Green Book (Chicago 7) will win yet again

it’s quite rare to get chills from a trailer, but those words at the end, just wow. i’ve been all over the world and i completely agree, you do see these strangers you meet on the road again.. sometimes you just know you will meet again. some of my closest friends i’ve met when i was on the road.
The music in the trailer is "Oltramare" from the album Divenire and also "Ascent (Day 2)" from the album Seven Days Walking both by Ludovico Einaudi. Here: ruclips.net/video/8PzjJgdd9WM/видео.html

Thanks. Was wondering what it was.
I knew it it's ludovico his music really familiar to hear ❤
First thing I noticed about this trailer! After seeing him live twice, this really brings such a powerfully warm and deeply emotional sense to the film.
应该是Day 1
This movie just won Best Picture. Congrats to the cast and crew 👏👏👏
My predictions are correct. Thanks, Fox Searchlight Pictures.
I finally got around to watch this, as it's the genre of film I absolutely love. It's a great film, truly, McDormand's performance alone is spectacular. Also, the OMP soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful. I haven't seen a film like this that's moved me in a while.
Congratulations to 'NOMADLAND' for gaining the most wins at the Academy Awards! 🏆
I grew up around Empire and Gerlach and the Amazon factory (It used to be in Fernley before it moved) and I found it very realistic. Empire is like a ghost town now, and it is depressing to drive by. The only thing left is the old gas station that fuels the region. It truly was a beautiful film.
How do you feel about all the private land around Gerlach being bought up by the Burning Man Org?
This looks amazing! Chloe Zhao is coming for that best director Oscar!!
This film is a masterpiece. Every now and then I'm just going about my normal life and this film pops into my head and I have to watch the trailer. which is a masterpiece in itself.
