An afternoon spent in the woods smoking a fish in my Firebox billy can oven.

Love it. 'Mr. Jessop cocking about in the woods with a fish'.
Simply beautiful.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I can certainly deliver more along these lines if I don't get any rides sorted out soon 😉
Good going, Jethro, loved this one, reminding us of the small, tasty pleasures of life! And YES, HOORAY, you promised some more poetry of the saddle ✨✨✨
You are one of the few who looks forward to poetry of the saddle videos.
I did find a good one that I think is definitely worthy of a reading so that will probably be coming up fairly soon.
I look forward to you thoughts on it
Filler?!?! BAH! A perfectly fine and entertaining video as usual. 🙂
Most kind of you to say. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Nice video. Variety is the spice of the spice rack
I'm glad you liked it. It was fun to do and the fish was lovely. Not very 'bikey' though.
Great video. I can relate to the last minute forgotten “necessities”. It only means we are forced to adapt. Right?! That’s what I tell myself when I get to camp and have no spoon and one glove. 😂
Spot on. If you come home alive it was all a success :)
I don't fish, but I do love smoked fish. I'm lucky to know people who do catch and/or smoke fish ...
I need to fish more often I think, this one was delicious!
Tasted wonderful, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Unfortunately most of our coastline is like that now, which is why my fishing stuff is in the loft !
Glad the smoking, went ok...i've been away so need to carch up on your other trips ! Atb Grant 👍.
Hope your away time was good.
Please do raid the back catalog, I can use the views as this video is going down like a lead balloon ;)
Nice one
Thank you :)
I've already had dinner, but now I'm hungry again.
Always room for a morsel of smoked fish :)
Nothing throw away about that Jeffers, fish sounded nice. I'm intrigued by "fish leather" fancy a cod based gimp mask...
Apparently fish leather is very soft and pliable so could be the perfect material ;)
@@JethroJessop Could bring a whole new meaning to the word "Codpiece" ... Or is that why they're called Codpieces?!? 😮
@@DIY-DaddyO well done sir! I'm embarrassed that I didn't spot the pun potential there myself.
He's a card that DIY Daddy'O... I once nearly purchased a Shark skin leather motorcycle jacket. Apparently it's 3 times tougher than moo leather and was a lovely grey blue colour.
This is from my new channel, I'm putting all my bike stuff in one place and shed pottering in another.
@@CobwobblersBikes good move, I shall check out the new channel!
LOL! Still a very entertaining, educational (I never thought of smoking a fish like that), and fun video nonetheless, Jethro!
Your channel's not been popping up in my feed. Maybe this has to do with the countless YT videos I've been watching about Bromptons and the 633km Four Rivers Ride in So. Korea, which I plan to attempt on my new Brompton in fall 2025 after my summer 2025 retirement -- I'm very much looking forward to this. I just hope my health and body at that time don't stand in my way!
Good to see your videos again, Jethro. I'm going to visit your channel to see what I've missed! Cheers!
Its possibly just the time of year. My views always tank towards the end of summer.
Your plan sounds amazing! That will be a fantastic trip, I'm envious.
Well, if you light it from the tail I reckon you can keep smoking until you reach to about the gills ...
I'm certain there is a pun to be had here about roach clips but I can't make it work so I'll just throw it out there 🤪
Last weekend , I caught 2 amazing Mackerel of Hastings in a Kayak. Back on the beach filleted and grilled in a pan, OMG , so tasty 👍
Nice, I love a bit of kayak fishing. I wish I lived closer to the sea then I'd do it more.
A man told me.
It’s called fishing not catching.
I have caught many.
But averaged 1 out of three trips that were fruitful.
Now, these days, I’m no longer angry at any fish..
This is a valid point.
My problem is that the part I really enjoy is the eating ;)
Cathing is a satisfying experience but I find the fishing part on its own is kinda dull.
Try wetting the wood chips
Think it would have helped, they were super dry and probably ashed out long before I opened it up. Still tasted good but next time I'll try to improve.
My first attempt at smoking mackerel was a disaster. Due to the oily skin the Rizzla papers wouldn't stick together.
I'll probably be commenting on your next video too, anything to help 😁
Try a pipe next time. Or a bong if you really want maximum fish delivery 😉
@@JethroJessop hah, yes indeed, I'd probably get good results with a stone(d) fish...
These "filler" 🤔 videos are great, cooking outdoors with your accompanying rambling humour, more of these please Jethro 😁👍
@@tonypaddler glad you like em. I have a few more up my sleeve so you'll have your fill I think 😉
@@JethroJessop
Great, I'm looking forward to them 🙂
I suspect Dutch bottom supertrawlers.
Good name for a band 😉
Tonight, live for you listening pleasure, will you please welcome to the stage... Dutch Bottom and the Super Trawlers!
soak your wood chips in water before smoking your meat
forgotten things...
been there, done that!
try NOT to do THAT but...
I like your cooking videos
😼
Good tip, I will try that.
My shavings were super dry as well as being really small so I reckon they burned to ash in very little time.
Glad you like the videos. I may revisit this topic again!
