Very adventurous and very entertaining! Your best Alan Partridge moment on the new Tunnock’s! Also notable as a bloke living in Wales how relatively nice and flat it was … here you’re either breathing out of your arse going up or burning brake pads going down. I long for flat and gentle.
And I long for hilly and rugged ;) Grass is always greener and all that! I'm just back from five days in the Cairngorms and actually had a pretty good mix of riding. Some climbs, some descents, some cruises. It's great when a route comes together like that.
It didn't quite get to type 2. I was enjoying myself all the while. If the temperature had dropped it would have gone into type 2 territory for sure ;)
He is a decent fellow for sure! I'm just back from five days in Scotland (though not with Alan) which was epic. I've not been through the footage yet but it should yield some good videos over the coming weeks!
I'm sorry & really surprised to hear about your saddle sores ,After all the touring you do .Some tips I've learnt since having bad sores after doing a very wet LEJOG was Saddle cream in the day & Sudorcrem in the evening.I stopped using padded shorts & just use seamless boxers .I ditched my brooks saddle a got a specialized power saddle & a Cain creek ee silk thud buster .This works really well for me .The trouble with padded shorts is once they compress it's another thing to rub .If you still want to use them ,use a different make every other day so the seems don't rub in the same areas .
Did I say I had saddle sores?? I honestly don't remember but I was exaggerating if I did. A slightly bruised arse is the worst I ever suffer from and I've not had actual saddle sores for many years. I also have the eesilk and it is great! Got an ebay bargain and have been very pleased indeed with how much difference it makes!
@@JethroJessop Sorry that response was meant for someone else ,I seem to be doing this quite a lot now I'm 60 ...Anyway I'm off to test my new tent down here on the Isle of Wight .

I genuinely think it's a great track. I kind of think of it as the closest thing I have to a theme tune, along with a couple of others. Apparently it isn't just me who uses it heavily though so I should probably try to diversify a bit. One day I'll get round to sitting down and recording a load of my own stuff to use!
It's great to see Alan back out 🚲😀👍 I'm sorry to hear about Alan's rebuffal, you make a great couple but that's the magic of editing I suppose. Behind closed doors and all that ... 🤔🤷♂️
Oh yeah, it's all for the cameras. We are mortal enemies off screen and can hardly be in the same room together without starting to throw punches. I usually come out worst. Alan is surprisingly handy in a brawl! 😉
Alan AND a new Thuttocks, 🎉 what more could we ask for. My last video also suffered with tech issues. Thanks for sharing what you can. Jolly entertaining 👍
Bloody gremlins. They get everywhere! Fortunately I only lost a few shots and was able to work round it. Would be a bummer to lose anything more than that though.
I know the feeling when half your recorded adventure vaporises, we lost half of our 600 mile adventure through Scotland. Everything looked ok until I tried to editors my GoPro 10 footage, it was scrambled junk. The irony was that my wife’s GoPro 9, famed for scrambling clips behaved perfectly.
Is the 9 bad for that then? Mine is a 9 and has been spot on so far. It does weird things with the dates and timestamps but I've not had it scramble footage yet. You have me worried now :) My issue occurred when backing up the footage at the end of the day. The backup card seemed to lock up half way and dropped a load of files. Live and learn eh?
He has many - I'm genuinely not sure of the exact count. They are all his project bikes and he's supposed to be filming the builds and starting his own RUclips channel! Keep nagging him and he might actually sort it out one day ;)
You don’t use clipless pedals and cleats then? i.e. Shimano mtb type clips and shoes. For better pedalling and walking? There are other types of course, but I think the Shimano Deore XT would suit you? I use the XTR, but that’s just cos I am loaded and money is no object! I assume you’ve given them or something similar a try, I was just wondering on your thoughts! Thanks for a great fun vid both.
I did use SPDs for a year or so but I never really got fully comfortable with them. They definitely help in terms of power delivery but when you get off road and the trails get rutted and rocky and technical they just become a liability. I toppled sideways on hidden obstacles one too many times and went back to flats. I tried those pedals that are SPD on one side and flat on the other for a while but just found I was on the flats so often it wasn't worth it. I tried toe straps too but had a similar experience when going off road. I see you can get magnetic systems now. That's an interesting idea but too expensive to try on a whim.
You and Allen are always entertaining. Another great vid! Although, not more "Dude, Where's My Horse?" Every youtuber and his dog use this. I've heard it so many times it makes my ears bleed. Please stop :)
Do they? i've not come across it elsewhere but I probably use it enough to drive people to distraction single handedly :) There is so much bad music in the YT library that I tend to just reuse the decent ones over and over. I would love to sit down and record a load of my own tracks to use but I just never seem to find the time.
I never got on with Komoot. It seems to want to do everything for you which I don't trust. I've tried asking it to plan routes in areas that I know really well and it never comes back with what I would call the best and it's not great for making fine adjustments yourself. I use RideWithGPS to plan in advance then tweak as needed on the ride. I really enjoy the planning part, going over maps, checking the terrain and spotting nearby features. Been a while since I tried komoot though so maybe it's better now.
Great to see the "Gruesome Twosome" 😂on a ride again..really enjoyed that mini adventure fellas!👍
Glad it was entertaining. Day 2 coming any moment now!
Very good , I like the sound of off road cycling but …… still makes for great viewing 🚲👍
Off road all the way for me. I'd rather push through a km of mud than be overtaken by a single truck
