    Thank you for showing all this BIG call out for Larger Grass/ Field Fire. Very interesting to see a Large Farm Tractor with tillers. Great idea to turn over grass to just DIRT to possibly STOP extension of Fire lines.

      It was nice to see farmers, Hutterite Colonies and firefighters coming together to help stop the spread of this intense fire. Been a wild few days!

    That 1991 GMC Topkick Fort Gary Pumper was probably my favourite engine that responded. I always love seeing old units still in service.

      @@LiamPattisonPhotography The oldest active unit I’ve seen in Western Canada is in the small town Of Spritwood Saskatchewan. Their main engine is a 1979 Ford F Thibault Pumper. Still looks fantastic after all these years though there are few pictures of it online.

    Great video. This was out by my family's subdivision and it captures how this was not a small effort to be dealt with. Horrible situation and mother nature not wanting to play nicely. Wind howling, fire crackling. Great job capturing everything!

      Thank you very much Amanda, the firefighters did a great job with this intense fire. As you can hear in my video the wind was super intense. Very difficult firefighting conditions.

      I may be wrong, but I believe that truck belongs to a hutterite colony. They always have some interesting set ups, but are always some of the first people to lend a helping hand during a fire!

      You blow the fire and burning debris back in on itself. In light flashy fuel, like shown in this video it works pretty well.

      If you follow this link it will take you to a CBC article on the fire. They don't specify an exact size in numbers, but they provide a satellite image in the article with a red circle showing the approximate size of the fire in relation to a housing development nearby. Definitely some unique and cool trucks at this fire, thanks much for watching. Cheers from Manitoba!

    Well damn! You don't get non-Brandon/Winnipeg responses often but when you do, oh boy do they knock it out of the park! My heart goes out to the crews that worked on this as well as the family whose house was involved though.

    • @LiamPattisonPhotography
      @LiamPattisonPhotography  3 года назад +1

      Thanks much Jimmy, was great to get some more variety with my content and capture some of these slower departments in action. Sounds like the house that was involved had fire damage to their shed, and fire damage to the siding of their house, however the house was saved from major damage which is great!

    • @rp1645
      @rp1645 2 года назад

      YES, if the home was saved, livable for owner, that is a big plus. It's so hard to save structure when distance is so great for Responding Rigs.

    You know you're in the prairies when there's a Case tractor on the highway.....lol. Great video! Second thing, how close is the base to the fire scene? I know the base will respond to calls off base when needed, Saw it first hand at a MVC 2 years ago just outside CFB Edmonton

    • @LiamPattisonPhotography
      @LiamPattisonPhotography  3 года назад +1

      You bet! Farm equipment everywhere lol. And CFB Shilo is an approximately 28km drive from where the fire was at Camp Hughes. Some of this fire was also technically on land that is owned by CFB Shilo (range land) and is used for military training, so that would've been a reason for Shilo to respond.

  • @thekiwicanuck
    @thekiwicanuck 3 года назад

    Some awesome catches in there!
    The best part is how the CFB trucks also say "Fire Service" in French, so the 3% of Manitobans who speak French at home know what they're looking at! Wouldn't want to cause any confusion...

    • @LiamPattisonPhotography
      @LiamPattisonPhotography  3 года назад +1

      Lol yup, Shilo's fire service is DND (Department of National Defence) so it's technically federal, which means they've gotta have bilingual language on their trucks. Thanks for watching!

    Wonder if the fire got started by a farmer doing burning on his land and the wind caught it and spread the fire around. Great catch, stay safe

    • @LiamPattisonPhotography
      @LiamPattisonPhotography  3 года назад +1

      There is a burn ban currently in place, so there are no farmers burning in that area. RCMP released a statement today and say that they think it may have been started by an ATV.

      I did not no. I generally tried to stay out of the thick smoke as best as I could. Usually on grass/brush fires firefighters won't wear any sort of respiratory protection either.

    They have a shit show going on, I work with cal fire in california those guys are lacking a lot of training

    • @LiamPattisonPhotography
      @LiamPattisonPhotography  Год назад +1

      Yeah well Cal Fire has literally thousands of personnel and hundreds of apparatus (including Air Ops) at their disposal, while in this area we have dozens of people and a handful of trucks at our disposal lol. They did a great job with the resources they had. They protected an entire development of houses from fire. My video of trucks responding should not reflect the actual work they did. Trucks were relocating multiple times due to changing wind and fire patterns. They know/knew what they were doing.
