Erroll Garner & Woody Herman - After You've Gone (1954)

Not essential Garner, not essential Herman, but great fun nonetheless. How this recording came about is related by Jimmy Lyons in his introduction to Erroll's second set on a memorable evening on the California coast in September 1955. Anyway, this recording took place in Detroit on July 8 1954. Yes, July 1954 was a busy, busy month for Erroll recording-wise, indeed on July 7 in the same city he laid down two dozen solo pieces, which, many years later, would see the light of day on the two Emarcy Solo Time! discs. Erroll and Woody and Henry Creamer's hugely popular After You've Gone.
