Yes. Absolutely get TrackIR. And it has gotten so much better in the last 10-15 years. So if you have been holding off because you heard bad things about it awhile ago, fear not. It should be solid these days.
Yeh but don't forget the muscle memory he's developed flying the real thing compared to what we have learned using TrackIR. Didn't you notice how after the merge he instinctively is lifting his head up to follow the Su27. For us we train ourselves to move our heads very little to get a huge change in the view point from the cockpit. I honestly think it must be very difficult for someone who recognizes the cockpit and knows how everything works to do 'sims' the way we have done. And most of us couldn't have done what he's done also for many reasons.

I would love to learn how to fly but I don't think my grunt brain can handle it 😂. Keep up the amazing work it's really nice to get input from a pilot that's knows their bird.
Just having an hour or two in a Cessna is a lot of fun just for the experience even if you don't plan to go further. There's not rules that learning to fly means to have to even qualify if you think about it, they will take your money and you can get the experiences you want from it, if you tell an instructor that they will totally get it and understand. I got my PPL when I was 18 in the US, I'd flown in the UK a little before that, my dream was to be an airforce pilot but my eyesight was terrible, my next dream after getting my PPL was to fly commercial but there was no way I could have afforded it so in the end I got to do some really fun stuff and have a bunch of cool memories :) Since you are in the US you could even try to get a ride in the back of a WW2 aircraft or do a little aerobatics ,there's so many possibilities.
I got the Boeing simpit, and was so excited to have a center mounted stick for the first week then I had to move it to the side. Side stick is so much more comfortable.
@@SPFLDAngler tried it twice. The first time it gave me eye strain and headaches. Returned it. Decided I would try it again and just work harder at tweaking the settings - same result. Plus the 1:1 head tracking doesn’t give me eye strain, as well as being more realistic. I actually have to move around in my chair to turn my head around and see the bandit on my six.
Fun to see the years experience hit in the turning fight, trying to look up and back... Muscle memory pulls hard, but eyes say "look at the screen front of you!".

Hey there just a little tip, to rotate the selective jettison knob you need to left or right click it, it is not like the hud brightness knob. And for jettisoning the master arm needs to be on for both selective and emergency jettison. Keep up the good content, hope this helps
"And for jettisoning the master arm needs to be on for both selective and emergency jettison." I would have thought the real pilot knows how to jettison, but hey, everyone can make mistakes. And I would have thought that EMERGENCY jettison is literally one push... As you don't have time in those moments to check anything else or move hand anywhere else. So if you need to get stuff out NOW, it is then NOW.
I was waiting for you to get your hands on this one. You've got to turn on your head tracker for BFM! Impressive you were able to get nose on without it.
What I like is that you show lots of respect for the Wizzos. There are other fighter pilots out there who consider them to be just talking ballast. Maybe they are indeed not needed in 1vs1 dogfights, but in more realistic scenarios I believe they are force multipliers. Despite all the computer aid in modern platforms. And with some of the new radars which seem to allow AA and AG at the same time Wizzos might have even a greater impact.
If you want that F16 stiff stick kind I would definitely recommend looking at realsim's F16 FSSB stick and the WinWing MFSSB stick. They should replicate that feel very nicely.
You should take a look at head tracking solution. Sure you can do VR, but you need a monster pc to get a good experience. IR type head tracking works with pretty much any setup. Great vid.

Of course you can set it up the way you want it to turn, so you dont have to fully turn your head and look away from your monitor which wouldnt make any sense. But i love your vids, keep it up
