- We made it through the week of our $100 grocery challenge and here is what we ate in a week for our large family on a budget. It was challenging but worth it. Bon appetite!

What I like about a challenged grocery budget is that you need to get creative, and nothing is wasted. In the past we've found that this is when the most delicious snacks and meals are made. I also pull out my cookbooks more, for inspiration and recipes.
That was so awesome! Well done. Especially with desert included! lol. We are running our shelves and freezer down for the move - but then we will have to do a huge shop to fill up over there.... but what will be will be. Thanks for the inspo. x Mel

Congrats on making it through a difficult week. How sweet of you to ensure you still have glasses to help Elliot. I started wearing glasses when I was Elliot, age and still do. I will wear glasses forever much like yourself and Elliot. The expense for glasses is a lot...

I always feel a huge sense of accomplishment when it’s the day to pick up groceries and the fridge, cabinet and pantry are almost empty. Only buying what you actually use is such a good feeling! We don’t like to waste food, so this proves to me that we’re doing well in that area. Glad to see you guys were able to stick to your budget for the week. Great job friend!! ❤️
It felt good to have a clear out and use all the food we’ve been skipping. Although we still have all those cans of baked beans 😂
Well done guys! I felt that you did originally explain perfectly that you have savings but you didn't want to dip into them! Well done as you say it's not every week it's just a little to get ahead.

I get the thinner lenses from spec savers and it includes anti glare. It actually works out cheaper than just getting anti glare if it is the lowest thin lense.
Their website shows what specials they have and they have more towards the end of the year. The best is Black Friday week.

Total understand with trying to save to not get anti-glare but I'm due for another pair and its time for anti=glare driving at night gets harder with the glare of headlights and such. Here in the US we also have glasses at Costco and they are way cheaper then surrounding places and also their contact lenses are way cheaper that savings alone for 2 kids using contacts the cost of the membership pays for itself.
You made that look so easy and stress free. I'd imagine its more difficult with small children that need/like several daily snacks & occasional dessert w/dinner. All the meals looked delicious, filling & nutrients. You definitely have a skill for these tight food challenges.

Both my kids wear glasses and they have never ever had a problem with feeling different. I feel like the stigma has changed about wearing glasses so much since I was a kid.

Rach,,you did Amazing on Yall budget the food look delicious,,as far as glasses ooool my word no matter what you have to get they are so expensive no matter what age,,I try to go without the glare protection an everything else that would have benefit me an still over $200.00..it just crazy prices. Kids glasses here in the uk are free right up to college so 18 years old if they are in full time education and eye tests are free also even to get them scratch resistant and complex lenses but like folks have said try Costco next time maybe

Just for your information if Eliot needs new glasses next time you can use the frames from these current glasses and that saves a lot of money. Great budget meals . Thank you for sharing 😊

hey guys.....awesome meal prep for the week for how your budget was.....really turned out great......yes i know what you mean for how much the lens and what needs to be added to the glasses are....i really cringe when i have to go get new glasses....always seems to be something that needs to be added and the price of the glasses go up even more.....i guess that is the price you pay for being able to see properly.....till next time....stay safe and cool.......X

If you have a ABN from your home business yo7 cannthen get a business membership at Costco and then I think u can claim on tax the join fee?

I know it might seem like hard work but even if you did this once a month imagine how much you could save extra for that week.
It would definitely be worth it. Small sacrifices in order to be able to afford things like family holidays where the memories are priceless 🥰
Why do you have to pay for childrens glasses? I am in UK and we have a big range of free glasses for them. If you want designer ones,then you have to pay.
Nothing is really free/covered in Aus. You have to pay for dental and even most gp appointments now
We don’t have free glasses in Australia.
Do your teenaged that work give you money when you are low on money for your groceries
No not for groceries but they do often go to the supermarket and buy whatever snacks they would like which unintentionally helps with our grocery budget.
