Olight produces high quality, innovative and expensive flashlights, but they are supposedly unreliable. And they are delaying the introduction of SFT diodes, and are still using yellowish and greenish SST.

And those dedicated, expensive batteries that we're talking about here and carrying a special cable... Well, charging is nice, but when you use the flashlight around the house and you always have the cable at home. But when we go somewhere, we always have USB-C for smartphones, unless someone has an iPhone - then they'll take a different cable for the phone and another for the flashlight, that's the original one😁

A little story of interest, with Emisar. I recently received a grey D4V2 and when I received it, I noticed a small scratch on the tail cap, across the EMISAR logo. A bummer. But then, I started seeing what I thought were pieces of lint in the crevices of the body knurling. I took a nylon brush in an attempt to whisk them out, but they were still there. Then I started seeing more of them. As of now, there are around a dozen of these tiny 'head of a pin' bare spots.
Also, the beam was very yellow. I got the one with the SST20 emitters.
I contacted Hank, and he said he could send out a new tube and tail cap on my next order. Because of the potential issue of trying to return to China region, I just decided to get something else, and get the tube and tail cap in the process. So I got the titanium version of the D4V2, using domed 519A 5000K emitters. It is still on the way, so can't speak to this one, but just wanted to throw this story up on the comments about my first D4V2.

I mean the number of votes has to mean something right.
I'm such a Lumintop fan, I know you're not, but the beautiful flood and power of the fw series has been integral in my work and personal life. I've dropped my fw21pro so many times the rim of the bezel is egg shaped, and it still works flawlessly. I've carried it daily for over 3 yrs. The fw3 was absolutely leaps and bounds above anything in terms of size and power even to this day. Maybe the tail switch was a little wonky for some, but of the 6 I bought, I never had s problem with them. My only critique of Lumintop is they discontinued the fw series. So now my search continues, for a suitable replacement that has the small size, power, and heavy duty clip of the fw series. Thanks for what you do. I'm a long time subscriber, and appreciate your work and dedication.

Olight has alot of drawbacks. Most people in this community aren't fond of tint issues, low cri, or proprietary batts. They're also priced for the tacticool dudes.. so.. they have alot working against them within this community over all

@@AverageReviewsYT I can see this about the battery. I recently sold two of my Olight flashlights. A Seeker 2 and Seeker 3 Pro. I still have my Seeker 4 Pro, in the Midnight Blue color and really love it because of that color and the rotary switch that lets me ramp up and down without having to cycle through outputs. But yes, the color is a bit too cool for me, the low CRI.
I did recently pick up an Olight Baton 3 Pro Max, in the Dream Blue color. Another purchase due to the body color. Truly amazing! And though it does have that "cycle through brightness modes" thing, the color is more neutral than cool, to my surprise. Not High CRI, but a decent color.
One of my Wurrkos does have a High CRI LED, an XHP70.3 and it definitely has the best beam of my lot.

  • @jackblock7451
    @jackblock7451 4 месяца назад +10

In reality, this ranking does not tell the recipient anything - like in a democracy. People make choices for various reasons, and most often, because they have such "feelings". For example, Wurkkos or Sofirn are not the highest quality flashlights, but they are best received because they are quite cheap and have good enough quality in relation to the price. Ultimately, this ranking is something like PS vs XBOX - most often fans of the brand will praise what they have. And in reality, most of the ones mentioned shine at least well, and the most important thing is the lack of failures, and it is difficult to assess this when someone does not use them every day. I have several dozen flashlights and I use them alternately, but in practice in 3 years I will not use a flashlight like someone on security for a month - so that person will be able to determine the failure rate after a few months, and I will never have such experience in practice. So democratic voting makes no sense, like in politics. So the result does not prove anything.

      Nicely said!
I have been looking around for a good replacement for my torch which I have had for many years, it was an Ultrafire torch that I got from eBay, it uses two 18650 cells which it didn't come with, which is why it was only $10.... After researching batteries I settled on the Keep power protected 3500mah cells, they were a tight fit but they worked, I figured that with the cells being protected, I don't have to worry about damaging the cells if they get to flat and they have been fantastic, they still sell keep power and are cheaper now than they were back then at $35.... Which quickly brought the price up to $45... I still had to spend another $10 for a charger which now cost me a total of $55....
The two batteries made the torch a bit longer but I had no problem carrying it around clipped to my belt and I used it at every opportunity I could, I ended up dropping the torch and one of the cells had it's button pushed in and couldn't make contact. I stopped carrying it around after that and left it for almost a year and since recently I have been looking around at what else I can get for around $50 that could possibly be better than the Ultrafire torch.... It's got plenty of power which I like, can zoom in or out and has a long run time which is important to me....
I like being able to direct charge via USB C, I like the 21700 5000mah battery format but most seem to use a single cell which my Ultrafire torch with its two cells has 7000mah total capacity....
I have been searching for a two cell or more of the 21700 cell torch with USB C direct charging, the ability to work for a very long time at lower power level but also have the ability to get into turbo mode by holding the function button like the Nightcore P35i... Just not at the P35I price!
Actually if the Nightcore P35i used two cells instead of a single, I would consider purchasing it even though it's $270.... With all that power at your convenience with a short press of a button and the ability to run extend times on low power, would probably be enough run time to go camping in a rainforest for a week without needing to charge it.... Probably....
I know, everybody's idea of the perfect torch is different.... I honestly don't think that the perfect torch exists.... But I'm sure that if the people who review them tried to cover as many applications, that it's possible to find something that is close to perfect.... It's not always about which one is the brightest! Which one has the furthest throw or the widest flood pattern..... Sometimes you just need longer run times at a usable brightness.....
Have you ever heard about the story of the maintenance guy who was working in the world trade centre when the planes crashed into the buildings? He saved himself along with a bunch of other people because he had his little torch! Imagine his torch batteries went flat at that moment! That's the sort of thing that you carry an EDC.... Life or death situation!
You are trapped in a cave that you were exploring, how long before someone realised that you haven't returned, how long before emergency services turn up and clear the cave in to get you out? How long will your torch last? There is no light whatsoever down there! It's one thing to go crazy locked up in a white room for an extended period and I can't imagine that it would be different being in total darkness for a few days to a week!
I'm still looking and waiting for the perfect torch.... Hopefully someone is going to do a thorough review of something that might be close to what I need.... Fingers crossed 🤞.

I'm surprised but also delighted to see Olight score so low. Despite my primary EDC being an Olight (one of the two models I consider worth buying), I really dislike most of the commonly-hated features, and I detest their marketing strategy with hundreds of the same models just in slightly different colours.
Same for RovyVon, who survive on basically slight variants of a single model, which Nitecore showed doesn't need to cost anything like what RV charge.
Personally I enjoy a lot of Nitecore's weird & wonderful innovations, but prefer Fenix for the production quality... though not the backward UI on many of their models.
Several other brands have done some good torches, and even some damn fine ones too, but they're still not there in the overall quality yet. Sofirn are really starting to get good, and I still need to get certain models from Acebeam, though they may be obsolete by now.

I'm kinda starting to think I have a problem 😂😂😂😂 my wife thinks I'm nuts cuz I love guns, flashlights, and light sabers 😂🤣😂🤣

Convoy may be underwhelming, but it gets the job done with decent quality and the ability to be modified at an affordable price. Even at a lower price compared to other expensive brands, it can be customized to match other brands.

Sofirn, Wurkkos and Convoy among budget flashlights, Acebeam, Nitecore ang Mateminco for top quality innovative ones, all the rest is a waste of money))

Almost adequate, though this is just vague "stars". Category-dependent rating would be more precise.
Think some brands deserve higher rating (ex. Olight). For the winners, I would put Wurkkos higher then Sofirn, but definitely they are both on top since those brands actively experimenting and make more interesting flashlights with customizable LEDs (for a reasonable price) then most of stagnant "top brands". For me Wurkkos TS10 4000K is just piece of art. Emisar is great too, at least D4v2 I own is excellent.

Noctigon/Emisar on first place is a joke!🤣😂 They are good, but not that great in practical use for outdoor/survival purposes. My top5 are: Acebeam, Nitecore, Fenix, sofirn, Wurkkos.

Good built quality, reasonable settings of levels from moon to turbo, good runtimes and they take any 21700 or18650 Batteries, wheather buttontop or flattop, longer or shorter, which can be important in emergency situations, when you wanna help out a friend with a spare battery if his battery went already dead.

Olight in 26th but Sofirn in 2nd? Now I know some voters had been drinking 😂
Every Sofirn I have handled has been inferior to the equivalent Olight in every regard except price - and the difference in price often isn’t enough to justify the downgrade

This ranking does not show people's preferences in real world. Most polls were answered by 200 - 300 users at most, which mainly were chanel's geeky fans obsessed with flashlight world (the same ones you can find arguing in Reddit). These sort of people normally don't buy them as tools, but as toys or pieces of an endless compulsive collection.
If you take a micro and ask people by the streets, you will find all sort of consumers apart from geeks...
I bet you almost nobody knows sh"t about those weird newby brands like Emisar, Amutorch, Weltool, "NexScam", Rovyvon, Brinyte and so.
Nitecore, Olight, Fenix, Imalent, Surefire, Maglite, Ledlenser & Nebo are known even by the last indigenous tribes on Earth.
Not as famous, but still popular, will follow: Wuben, Acebeam, Armytek, Thrunite, Klarus (actually s"cks, but time ago it was good quality), Trustfire, Convoy, Astrolux, Streamlight and maybe Sofirn & Wurkkos.
I know FAME doesn't always mean QUALITY, but surely this ranking were Olight stays between 20-30th rank, LedLenser between 40-50th and the 1st position goes to "good-known" Emisar sh*t, is a JOKE.

Not real familiar with brands in bottom half aside from Olight and Reylight.
Interesting that Olight is rated so low. The difference between influencer enthusiasm and user enthusiasm for that brand is striking. Makes me think they pay good endorsement money to the influencers.

@FLASHAHOLIC_TV I will say this. If I can get the same or better specs and only pay 1/2-1/4 the price of one from the "big boys".. which way do you think I will go. Wurkkos and sofirn both have excellent customer service. I have about 20 from wukkos and 15 or so from sofirn. Of those, I have only had 2 issues. One had a bad driver, and sofirn replaced it immediately with me just sending them a video. One of my wurkkos hd01's came with an artifact to the side of the laser. They offered a 30% refund or a return and replace. I took the 30%. Everything else has run perfectly

B TIER: I think most brands go here, Sofirn, Wurkkos, Fenix, Skillhunt, Rovyvon, Reylight, Manker, Maratac, Mec Army, Nitcore, ect.
C TIER: Nebo, Olight, other lower quality brands,
    Something like this
